property of great character and history.
Host Ken was very accommodating and welcoming.
regrettably there was no chef for a long awaited dinner after a 7hr drive! However Ken came up with a more than acceptable meal with good wine!

Great location, nice and peaceful but within easy reach of various attractions. The owners are excellent being very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The room was nicely decorated and comfortable with all the features required. Top notch breakfast with very good quality food and plenty of it. A good variety was on offer and the ability to taylor the breakfast to your requirements was nice. The hotel has a couple of lounges which were nice to sit and relax in. There are also some very nice outside seating areas.
Bathrooms could do with a refurbish but I understand plans are in place to do this.

Our hosts, Ken and Lisa, were always on hand with help and advice attending to all our needs. A stunning property, spotlessly clean as were our rooms which were very comfortable. An excellent breakfast which set me up for the day.

Owners are nice and friendly with a good sense of humour. We really loved the atmosphere in the mansion.
Unfortunately, it was raining. Otherwise, we would have hung out on the outside terrace with a beautiful view. Stayed in the bar instead, enjoying some nice single malts and having a chat with other guests.
They serve a good breakfast also.
Can’t think of anything.

The breakfast was excellent nothing was too much trouble. The location was lovely.
Yes the over bath shower. My husband couldn't use it. However we didn't specify a room with a walk in shower.

Charming house with great view

The hotel itself is a beautiful old building with a lot of history attached to it, (some of the artefacts in the dining room are testimony to this).
The cooked breakfasts were very good and served on nice hot plates which makes a change to some places where the plates are cold!
Because there was no chef when we were staying there we couldn't have dinner in the hotel although Ken very kindly did do us a salad on our first night there to save us from going out. We understand that a new chef is starting in September so this issue should be resolved then.
The cups on the hospitality tray in the bedroom were rather on the small side!

Excellent breakfast.
A lovely location in a 1545 Manor Houseb
Because of staffing shortages Dinner could not be served and we had to go out. Apparently a Chef is coming.

Excellent cooked breakfast. Attentive host and could be relied upon to give lots of local knowledge. Lovely terraced area for drinks in the warm sunshine.
There was a limited menu for dinner, however this was caused by the unexpected death of the chef and a new one had not yet been employed. The owners were doing their best. This building is very old and therefore there were few electric sockets. There was an issue about our room door being left wide open, just an oversight but it shouldn't happen.

Excellent home cooked food, beautiful quiet location. Hosts go above n beyond to ensure satisfaction & comfort. This was a business trip, but will be looking to return with the spouse

Room was superbly appointed.
The owner, Ken looked after us very well.
He was very friendly and helpful.
He talked enthusiatically about the hotel, its fascinating Elizabethan history and his plans for it.
His chef had died from a fall down stairs at home two weeks earlier. He produced a good but limited menu which provided a good evening meal.

Taking away the beautiful location and incredible history, what really makes Dolforwyn Hall special is the owners. Ken could not have been more welcoming, and made us feel like old friends returning. Plus the food is excellent, so much so we ate both nights in the hotel.
We both look forward to returning soon to see all the new developments and having a fabulous afternoon tea.

The elevated position of the Hall and the surrounding woodland provides a pleasant and picturesque setting.
The breakfast was enjoyable.

Exceptionally first class establishment with very comfortable accommodation with high standards of cleanliness, warm, friendly, fantastic food all locally sourced ingredients so can’t get any better or fresher than that and situated within beautiful surroundings. Owners great and what’s more it is a dog friendly hotel👍Felt like home. Good value for money and I shall certainly be returning again in the near future.
Highly recommended.
There wasn’t anything that l did not like. The hotel provided everything and much more than l had expected so there was nothing in my view not to like

Warm welcome, great hosts. Very comfortable bed and cosy room, felt secure travelling alone. Beautiful building and location...owners are carefully upgrading it. Loved the dark panelled dining room. Food lovely too.
Not really a dislike but some areas are still being improved and owners new to the trade, but couldn't do enough for you. Think it will only continue to get better with time. Looking forward to staying there again.

We liked the ambience, the friendlyness of the staff, nothing too much trouble for them and the food was excellent.
Unfortunately the USB charging points, of which there were four, were hidden behind the two bedside cabinets, didn't discover this until we were leaving. We found it a little difficult to get into the bed because it was very high.
