Amazing location with breath taking views. Tons to do and also great variety of food.
The bathroom in our room could have been a little cleaner and better rotation of bath towels.
4.3
The hotel was more than we expected. We were in awe of the scenery. Magistic views that connect your inner with the world.
We were a family group of 10. Out of the three rooms we rented, the best was the #14 with an amazing deck and lovely mountain sight (and a great bathroom).
The staff was really nice and helpful.
Driving through the Panamerican Highway and going down San Gerardo de Dota is one of the best trips you can take in Costa Rica.
But overall, Rio Saavegre is a true star. It's a must.
The food wasn't that good at breakfast time.
Room 3 was hot and AC wasn't working properly.
Missed AC in our sleeping areas in room 11
Also, a bit more light in the trails during the night around outside decks would've been great but beyond this, we can't complain at all.

Amazing views from the rooms, nice hiking trails in ther property and in the area, the breakfast was great and the staff were very attentive and helpful.
4.3
Fantastic view from room. Huge grounds to walk around-magical to sit outside as the sun sets.
It is at altitude (2600m) so you will feel the effects of this.

Our expectations were quite high, and the reality was even better! The lodge is perfectly located and spread in the middle of cloud forest. You get your private villa, each has its own privacy and fabulous views through the ceiling-to-floor windows. Yes, it is a bit of walk from the reception area, but that is the main magic there - the seclusion and privacy.
I read here lots of negative reviews about the black bathrooms. I don’t understand why it is issue for you? And off course you are in the middle of a cloud forest where the humidity reaches 100%. I am sure that the staff is doing their best, but sometimes a bit of mould can appear (we did not notice it, but again it was mentioned in a review before). All facilities in the bathroom worked perfectly including hot water, so we had no problems.
We very much appreciated that this resort is doing maximum to be eco friendly. They have their own special concept. You should take it as a Eco-lodge rather than classic resort. They also provide really great conditioner which helped a lot with my sun-damaged hair :-)
Breakfast is a la carte and is very tasty. One morning we even ordered 1 extra portion and resort did not charge us for it. The onsite restaurant is opened for lunch and dinner (we didn’t try it). Within few minutes walk from the resort, there are 2 local restaurants + minimarket. Miriam’s restaurant is a must!
We booked both arrival and departure transfers via Dantica and both worked perfectly. Driver was ontime and journey was smooth. We also booked the Quetzal tour via Dantica and it was well organized (for us, it was a bit of mass tourism, around 30 people chasing 4 quetzal birds, but we would never see these beautiful birds without the guide, so it was worth it).
Every member of the staff were very nice to us and helpful, it was a real pleasure to stay there. It is one of a kind experience. Don’t hesitate to book this wonderful place.

Beautiful setting and the place to see birds. The rooms were cozy, the restaurant was excellent, and the view spectacular. Expect somewhat chilly nights, but crisp, clear air.
If you have trouble walking on stone pathways, try to get a unit that is close to the reception. The drive down also is better in a 2x4 or 4x4.

Our room was amazing, I loved the bathtub overlooking the forest, the view from our bungalow could not be beat.
There needs to be alot more staff. The restaurant absolutely should have at least 2 servers on. The servers who were working were doing their best but really could not keep up. There is no reason that 1 person should be taking care of the whole restaurant including having to make the drinks, bus the tables, cash out etc. It was actually uncomfortable as people were getting really frustrated with them.

The food at Dantica Cloud Forest was great no complaints at all. The lodge we stayed in was old and outdated for me personally. Yes it had a heater if you were cold and air conditioning if you were hot. You had free water one small bottle per day but had to pay for coffee or hot chocolate which I find bizarre. Yes there was alcohol in a mini bar fridge but chargeable which I do understand. The bed was very comfortable and we had a great nights sleep, you are in the middle of know where with a fantastic view but thats it really. We do recommend going to Miriams Cafe just up the road, we saw more birds at the back of her cafe than we have at Dantica.
Mould on curtains mould on walls which puts you off because you really don't know how clean it is really. The bathroom is painted in black which i presume is to cover up the mould and the lighting in the bathroom is awful. The water for the shower kept going hot one moment and cold the next and the bathrooms are very cold anyway so puts you off having a shower.

Great view on the forest, good mixture of easy and more difficult trails on the property.
Way too expensive, our expectations were not met. The room was nice but not in a good condition. Cleanliness particularly of the bathroom had room for improvement. The hotel seems to be understaffed, leading to long waiting times at the restaurant. No welcoming atmosphere. Coffee in the room is charged extra despite 280$ per night.

the views are amazing , and the decorations is just perfect
they should upgrade the towels, they are really old and worn out.
4.3
The view is amazing!
The costumer service is not the best, is a shame!!

The hotel is designed for your privacy while allowing you to view nature from your room. The spa jacuzzi in our room was healing and warmed me after a few kilometers of walking up hill. The room is equipped with heating and cooling system that works great! We were very happy to have chosen Dantica. My son was thrilled with the views, birds, and food. I had a lovely lunch and we tried the pizzeria nearby after sunset. Delicious. Very safe area and super quiet! We didn't have a car but if you did you could explore the area and see much more but from our room we were busy seeing various birds. I recommend the Merlin bird ID application and binoculars. Beds were super clean, firm, and the place smelled very hygienic and sterilized linens.
We didn't like to leave. I will be back and sending all my friends with kids or couples.

Definitely the best views of the San Gerardo Valley. The rooms have massive windows that let you see all the exuberance of the cloud forest all day, even at night the light the paths and their huge dark oak trees, simply breathtaking. The place also has a jacuzzi, with a view to the cloud forest. You also get some wine bottles, and a great stock of coffee capsules, that quickly allows you to get a cup of this warm and delicious beverage.
It wasn't a problem for me, but some of the rooms are way too far from the reception and restaurant. I really loved those walks, but someone with health problems could find that too much challenging. So, be careful about asking for a room that is as near as possible if you need it.

I’m super happy on the excellent service received, starting with the reception to the attention at the restaurant.
As a allergic person to a loooot of food ingredients they were also open and flexible with the breakfast.
Plus the amazing view from the bedrooms and the spot they’re located at, in love of this place!l
Maybe the bathroom (the room per se) is a bit too cold, but it still has a cool window with the view while you’re there

stunning location!
challenging to get around. steep cliff side property

Beautiful place far up in the mountains.
waking up the noises of nature.
glad we had a heater.
The room that I had received was wet and moist.
once the rain started some how water went into the bathroom.
carrying our luggages all the way to our bungalow was our lest favorite thing about this place.

The views were amazing, the place was cold but they had a lot of stuff for you to stay warm, in general was gorgeous and quite a nice experience
Bathroom won't stay dry, condensation and whatnot, and buy coffee elsewhere... They charged $12.50 for a $2.50 bag of coffee (we found the exact same one at one of those souvenir shops in the area) we were a little pissed we thought we got quality coffee and we later found it was the cheapest one in other place...

the location was so beautiful and the lodge was amazing!
4.3
completely isolated and quiet with nothing but yourself and nature. The restaurant was great and there were still some lovely local shops and restaurants if you wanted to go out. birdwatching here is the best I have experienced in all of Costa Rica.
because you are in the true cloud forest, everything is damp inside and outside but it shouldn’t be a bad thing
4.3
This beautiful lodge, high in the Dantica Cloud Forest, was a great experience. We were just sorry we hadn't scheduled more time there. The garden paths, views, and cabins, were all lovely. Of the two weeks we spent in Costa Rica, I'd say this lodge was the nicest place we stayed.
The mountain road in is steep, but well paved. The heater in our cabin could have been more powerful in this high, cool, location, but we'd have been smart to turn it on earlier.

The view, hiking
Service at the restuarant, good but slow due ti lack or workers.

the place is amazing

It was beautiful to always have some fresh fruit and a glass of fresh press juice before you even decide on the breakfast choice. I like the birding names for the breakfast options and that you could see birds just outside feeding from fruit or the hummingbird feeder. wonderful to start the day.
4.3
Great choice to discover the area. Big well decorated rooms with large windows. Very comfortable and well designed.
Humidity and coldness in the room, specially in the bathroom
4.3
This place is beautiful! The grounds well maintained, the rooms large, the trails private. The hummingbird feeder on the porch was a huge plus.
The floors needed updating.

Room a little smaller, especially the bathroom
