The cabin was fitted out for 3 people but would have been a bit cramped. Ideal for 2 bearing in mind that the temperature drops dramatically to about 6C at night. However Ana provided plenty of blankets and a heater, whilst we took clothing to suit the outside temperature. The location at the head of the San Gerado valley and at about 8000ft above sea level is spectacular and very different to any other location we had visited during our 21 days in Costa Rica. A trip down the valley is well worth it, especially before 6.30am in order to have a chance to view the varied wildlife in the area. Include a road walk if birding ( there are Quetzals in the area). But remember to get back before breakfast ends! Breakfast was typical Gallo Pinto with great coffee and the restaurant has a limited but good value menu for evening meals. There is a pizzeria opposite providing an alterative to Comidas Tipicas. The 12k Colones size is big enough for 2. Ana also has a bird feeding station giving great photo opportunities. This is one place I'd love to go back to some time, but at 74 time is not on my side!!
Having to share the idyll with others!!

This is a family owned cabin business with a small restaurant and great deck to view a large variety of birds including the infamous Quetzal. The stay was minimalist cabins but worth the stay to see many Quetzals. Restuarant has good selection of meals. The family were very friendly and helpful and even came to let us know that the quetzals were arriving for the late afternoon visit. We also had a great hike down to the waterfall.
Wifi was slow, our cabin was cramped, linens and pillows were older, but the bathrooms were nice and modern.

The place was incredible the owners even helped to find clothes for my kids, I will definably be back in the future. For the price this was on of the best places I've stayed in Costa Rica and the climate was absolutely incredible.
I liked it all

We loved Mirjam, her mom and the whole staff. They were all very friendly and helpful! they run a small restaurant just in front the cabin, from there you have a privileged spot on the terrace to look out for birds while enjoying a beautiful batido de moras! Breakfast was also great! Mirjam was also helpful in finding a guide for the Quetzal tour!
It was very basic for the price we paid. The heater was a bit noisy and also the blankets weren’t super clean.

The owner is really friendly. Across the street is her restaurant, Miriams Quetzals. It is a great place for birdwatching and breakfast in the morning. For dinner we liked the trout.
The cabin does not have much space. The sink and toilet are very small and there was not much warm water coming out of the shower. Towels quiet old. One of the two beds was horrible, not good for your back. Gets cold in the evening, but a lot of blankets. No heater.

We arrived late in the evening but Ana waited for us to let us know how everything works. Cabines were neat and big enough for our family of 4. Warm blankets were also available because it really get cold at night.
Nice breakfast and big plus is the terrace where you can observe many birds, toukanette and we were also lucky enough to see the female quetzal.

Amazing cabins. The owner made us feel so welcome and the cabin was much bigger than what we were expecting. The little coffee place where breakfast is served is great and is also fantastic for bird watching.
Would definitely come back again with more time to explore.

idyllic settings in the mountains surrounded with great views and birds. super friendly and helpful staff.
outside their cafe they feed fruit to the local birds which also attracts some squirrels.

Very cozy cabins and enough blankets to combat the cold. Owner helped us get a guide to look at the Quetzals. Nice small terrace with lots of birds!

Great location, especially for birdwatchers. Watching hummingbirds and acorn woodpeckers while having breakfast was awesome. Very friendly and helpful staff who organised taxi service for us to and from the main road. Highly recommended!

We loved the location, there was a a bird watching spot witch was wonderful. You could see different birds from really close. The food is also great and fresh and not to forget the owners are super friendly and helpful. When our clothes were totally wet because of the rain they offered us to wash and dry them. The service is super there!
The rooms were a little bit small.

Included breakfast was good, and bird viewing area is great.
Horrible value for money. $130 USD for a run down cabin for family of four. Shower could barely output hot water. No windows could open. Wifi barely worked. Should have been $50-$60 USD. Neighbours had 6 dogs and a rooster that wake you up at 5am. Walls so thin that you can hear conversations in cabins next door. Stay somewhere else!

Excellent hosts, clean and comfortable rooms. Wonderful location; we also had a walk to see the Quetzal, Alex our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Be aware that it gets cold up there, it's at 2600 meters asl (rooms have heaters :-))

you can spot Colibris while having breakfast

Beautiful location. Good food.
Needs a bit of updating. A fireplace would be amazing

very nice accomodation!
it gets pretty cold in the night in the room and the electric heater makes some noise (so it can't be turned on while sleeping)

The owner is a very nice person, always smiling, helpful. The food was delicious, best grilled trout we ever had. Amazing place in the mountains with so many lovely birds alloround

Very good location and nice views from the cabin.
There was no hot water.

Our cabin was right opposite Miriam's cafe, which was great with good selection of tasty food and we were well entertained by the miriad of birds on their feeding tables and surrounds. They organised an early am tour of birds which was wonderful with plenty to see including the quetzal in all its glory ($25pp).
