Absolutely gorgeous grand hotel. It is perfectly decorated and maintained. Nothing is dated. Makes you feel like royalty. Stay long enough to linger in every room and dine in every dining room. Enjoy the breakfast. It is unequaled. Not my first stay and not my last....
The only disappointing part of the stay was the service at the bar. Both times, the service was slow, although there were few guests, and somewhat unpleasant. This contrasted with our first stay when the bar staff had been extremely friendly and professional.

We where surprise about the importance the Vidago Palace spend to the plants, the "little" forest and the remaining of nature there, the lake ( with the ducks, the quantity of birds and so on, it is amazing.
The staff is very compedtent and , of coujrse, very sweet...The staff at "pequeno almoço" so careful, Mrs.Conceição at the water-fountain and everybody at the Terms, Hydromassage, Vichy, Reception, Angela, Susana,Claudia , (as nobody is perfect ...)summing up everybody well prepared and nearly perfect. WE"LL CERTAINLY COME BACK NEXT YEAR
Well, there is nothing to complain, but we think that a coffee and tea possibility at the rooms

Magnificent grand hotel, with a stunning staircase and located at the heart of its own nature park. Very romantic at Christmas time with all the decoration. Beautifully decorated rooms, faithful to the 19th century style but with all the modern luxuries. Spa is qualitative and good value. Comprehensive breakfast in a beautiful room with glass ceiling. Staff was top-notch.

it’s immaculate. we went in there off season of November but it was still spectacular. excellent service. Wes Anderson-esque energy. the spa is to die for. the Hammam is very well made and huge. the hot tub is custom built with a water bubbles bed. the cocktail Negroni was perfectly balanced. the dining room makes you feel Royal. I’ll be back.
nothing to not like

Almost everything. Three hears ago in July I celebrated my 70th in tour property. This time it was my husband’s 70th. And next year will be our 30Th anniversary.
Having the shower in the bath tube was very hazardous. Very slippery and very dangerous. It needs a handrail and a non-slippery mat in order to reduce the risk of a bad fall.

The grandeur is incredible, kudos to the investors who brought this magnificent property back to life in 2010. I will be coming back for sure!

It is a unique place (it was built after all as a palace for the then king) and as such a great place for a special event (it was the 25th wedding anniversary for us). It is a place where one goes to be intentionally isolated. Great for relaxation, in the spa, or walking in the surrounding hills or playing in the golf course. Not recommended for those who want an active night life.
The restaurants serve great food and great wines.
It was almost deserted when we stayed there. It was strange to have dinner in a huge gorgeous dining room alone. On the brighter side we had the undivided attention of the staff

The hotel is unique architectural wise, very beautiful, well maintained and the level of service is excellent. Our room was quite large (superior double room) and the beds were amazing, really comfortable and great quality bedding. It is an elegant hotel but also very family and kids friendly - we really appreciate that the crib for our 2 year old son was smartly assembled in the room with comfort (including proper bed linen) and the variety of dishes for kids in the restaurant. Well done!
Breakfast was really good but could be even better by adding more homemade items

Most beautiful hotel I have seen so far. Looked like I was in the Great Gatsby movie. Great service, great property, charging station for electric cars, great restaurant (Wine Cellar).
Price could be more reasonable for low season.
