It's a nice little property in a great location for a good price. Absolutely a fair deal, and I'd stay there again. It's a small business, and the owners are very nice. Great for walking around San Jose; lots to see, do, and eat nearby. Chinatown/Barrio Chino, in particular, is great. We took the bus from the airport and were able to walk to Casa Leon from the station.
Nothing to complain about, really. It's what you expect from a property of that age and location. By and large the electricity, water, and wifi were good. There was an hour here and there when there was no hot water, not sure that wasn't true for the whole neighbourhood, though. The metro train goes quite near the property and runs late. I heard it in the night a few times, but it wasn't a big deal. Because there's a metro-train station nearby, you might see some sketchy people hanging about, so stay security conscious. That's needed anywhere in San Jose, though.

The host was really kind and arranged a taxi from the airport. He also let me keep my bags af the hostel as I had a later bus!
When I arrived there was no water which was frustrating after a long travel day, but don’t think it was their fault.

Location was great, right in the center of San Jose. Patrick was a great host and very helpful with questions and parking. Quiet and comfortable room with ceiling fan to keep us cool.
4.2
Patrick is a great host!
Great, central location.
4.2
Super friendly host, room as described, good value for money, located near city center
A bit hard to find, not the cleanest street, may be noisy (depends on your room)
4.2
very clean, comfortable bed and pillows, close to attractions, plenty of restaurants and shops. hosts are multilingual and well informed and helpful.
it was a bit noisy at time ls (due to the area, not the hosts) and the door lock was not well seated in the door, which was not a problem per se (it did latch) but made me uncomfortable.
4.2
very good help from the hostess, clean, hot water and next to center of San Jose
4.2
Location is fantastic to see all the wonderful things at San Jose has to offer and Patrick who runs the place was very kind and helpful
I thought everything was fine
4.2
Cleanliness, localization, safety
4.2
Very clean and located just outside the city centre. The owner seemed nice.
Area was not the nicest, slightly difficult to locate hotel
4.2
Clean, comfortable, excellent location and well looked after!, Also very good value.
Possible negatives could be a bit of outside noise and not the easiest place to find.
4.2
I loved the hosts' kindness
The place was too close to the train's rail, so it got noisy at times
4.2
Great host, lovely garden area, good location
4.2
Value for money, friendly, caring and helpful staff. Returned on my stay, was allowed to leave luggage free of charge. Close to China Town and museums. By the train rail, but noice did not bother us. It is a basic little family run hotel/hostel. Would definitely recommend.
Nothing really for the price you pay.
4.2
Great helpful staff. We’re very accommodating when we had to come in a little late.
It was all great. Wish we had more time there.. There roof top terrace was outstanding.
4.2
The host was available and very helpful.
There were absolutely no extra amenities. No drinking glasses in the room. No complimentary coffee or available appliances to make coffee. The only place to buy coffee or breakfast food was Musi, and that was pretty slim. Also, the location was a bit dicey. The nearest food was in Chinatown, some blocks away.
4.2
The owner Patrick was very helpful, he organized a taxi for me from the airport to the hostel!
4.2
It’s very simple and clean. It is in a good location, and everything is close by. The owner was very helpful and kind. It is a perfect, affordable place for a day or two in the city
It was initially hard to find

Patrick and his wife are super friendly and helpfull people. The location is very central so it is possible to walk to pretty much everything. As a solo female traveller it is nice to get some local guidance on do's and don'ts and Patrick was very helpfull. I had 2 nights at the guesthouse at the beginning of my vacation and then came back for 1 night at the end. Patrick made me feel like i was a returning friend.
4.2
Friendly owner, good wifi, very comfortable bed. Had everything you needed. Cost is reasonable for a private room
The location is a bit rough (not a problem if you get taxis from door-to-door). Also I managed to lock myself out the bathroom. The keys I had weren’t able to unlock it.
4.2
excellent place to stay
close to railroad, but they stop going at 8:30 I was told.
4.2
it was very near to my bus terminal, so I could just walk there
4.2
Fantastic spot. Handy location, spotless room, great service. Patrick organised an evening arrival transfer from the airport that went smoothly. He also kindly stored by luggage for a couple of hours after check out time. There is some train noise but it did not bother me.
4.2
Great Location and the host (Patrick) is an amazing person and he will make sure you have a great time in Costa Rica!

The guy was very friendly and helpful.
the lady who works there needs anger management classes. she also needs to learn how to speak to customers.
4.2
Very nice location, walking distance to several museums, walking streets, good restaurants, Chinatown (if you can call it that), parks, some bus stops, and a train stop (not sure where train goes). Mostly clean spot, nice owner (good recommendations on food), communal mini fridge, felt safe.
Could use a thorough cleaning (dust in corners and upper shelves), but maybe that’s being picky.
4.2
The owners are great. Really hospitable and friendly!
Its hard to find, loud, the water shuts on and off when showering, bed was uncomfortable and itchy, the fan was too loud to use, and the space was just uncomfortable in general. We both woke up with big bites after sleeping here.
4.2
owned by a very nice couple
the room was a bit loud at night.
4.2
simple and efficient for a short stay in San Jose, excellent value for price
4.2
Good for a one night stay in a private room
Hard to find without knowledge. The location could be discribed better.
Also the owner called a taxi driver for me who wanted to scamb me.
4.2
The place felt very safe. The bed was big and comfy for 2. The owner is very friendly and helpful.
Traffic noise was very bad - started 5am and was still going at 10pm. Kitchen facilities were closed & not available.
