Clean, comfortable, spacious in a quiet location

The location was peaceful until some inconsiderate person played music at 9.50pm
Eyam cottage was far from clean, several cobwebs, no coasters for cups/glasses, en suite shower - dirty, floor tiles -loose! When I needed to cook my son some food the black came off the baking trays onto the food! Was a smell of urine on one of the beds, single beds should have been pushed together as per request - wasn't done, the list I is endless, certainly won't be returning

Lovely location
Cottage got no sun

Area surrounding the cottage was brilliant easy access to Matlock and Bakewell.
Cleanliness of cottage needs attention skirting boards and kitchen cuboard doors need a good wipe over, but baths and showers were clean.. everything you need for a comfortable stay lovely to be right by the lake. Staff helpfull and friendly . All in all a lovely place hopefully issues will be sorted

Beatutiful view over the lake.
Quiet surroundings.
Fairly well equipped kitchen.
PLenty of space.
Great heating system...so warm on arrival we had to throw open all the windows and doors.
Great bathrooms.
PLenty of indoor seating
For a four star accommodation ....Incredibly intrusive creaking and groaning floorboards over lounge. Have been mentioned in previous reviews but not corrected. Felt too afraid to walk upstairs too much.
SIngle beds uncomfortable for adults and big bed very hard with headbord banging on wall every time we moved.
Shabby chic furniture good but other painted furniture and kitchen cupboards ... shabby.
ALthough designer decorated, too much grey and not enough colour made downstairs feel cold and dark.
A couple of towels were rather thin and tatty.
On arrival in torrential rain it was almost impossible to find the cottage. Directional signs or a site map at the lodge or car park would be good as not all names over doors are visible from a car.

The cottage itself was lovely looking although dated and situated beautifully opposite the lake. Everything you needed in the kitchen apart from scissors.
The TV makes a loud humming/grasshopper type sound when turned on and the guide button on the remote doesn't work. Originally messaged to ask for a fan as I was pregnant was told it was noted on my booking but no can when we arrived. The first night the ensuite toilet leaked all over the floor when flushed, no emergency number to ring so had to be left till the next day, they did offer to fix it but would be noisy, so decided not and use the other bathroom. The floor boards and pipes creak, along with the doors opening when u shut them. No instructions on how to use the shower over the bath so used the ensuite bathroom but being heavily pregnant the stand up shower was hard to menouver. We didn't realise you had to pull string to get the shower to work. The bath hot tap does not get hot so couldn't have a bath. The bed is hard and you can feel the springs so we slept on the sofa instead. Our last night the bath tap turned on by itself and could not be turned off, again no emergency number to sort it so wouldn't have been able to get to sleep and also it spooked us out. So we left and paid more money to stay in a Travelodge. Overall were really disappointed because it's a beautiful place

We had the key code in advance, it was perfect. We arrived late so wasn't worried about check in times etc. The location was just perfect, not near anywhere or anyone so plenty of chill out time! Can't wait to go back

very hard to find , we arrived in the dark and pouring rain , no signpost for our particular cottage
Pitch black , had to shine our phone torches on everyone’s front door name plaques until

Afew cobwebs about in the cottage and the kitchen sink drainer top could have been polished up , very smeary ?
Lacking pictures on the walls

The cottage was exactly what we needed. Lovely layout, comfy living space. Plenty of space and it is very quiet. Bedrooms were spacious and bathrooms clean. Kitchen had everything we needed. Could have done with an extra oven tray.
Would have liked a little secure area for letting the dog out for the toilet. But there was plenty of grass areas when you could go on a lead.

quiet and lots of space
not that clean

Perfect cottage in beautiful surroundings. Very cosy.
It could have done with a really good clean but apart from that it was perfect.

The welcoming on arrival. The location is fantastic. Absolutely loved the walk around the lake. And didn't have to go far from the place to be in Bakewell or Matlock.
When their is a huge party of people who are partying this can become very loud and continues until early hours in the morning. The property could be a little cleaner. But can put up with a little dirt as over all value for money and view is worth it.

had enough room for four adults, and had everything you need in a self catering property
A little tired decor wise and the carpet in the main bedroom needed a clean, otherwise all good

The location was idyllic.
The electric shower in the ensuite wasn't very powerful and only provided a slightly warm shower.

had most things needed
walls quite thin between properties, loud doors banging

Great location, very comfortable, friendly staff, I loved the walk around the lake which I did multiple times a day.
No mobile reception and very poor wifi made this difficult for work purposes. On the whole the wifi was tolerable during the day, but at peak times it became unusable. The owner was very helpful though in trying to resolve it.

Everything else 😁 the location was fantastic. Beautiful scenery and close proximity it to everything we wanted to do.
Cold showers

The property was spacious, well proportioned and very well equipped within the kitchen and lounge areas (although the settee was not comfortable) and was well served by 2 bathrooms with adequate electric showers and one with a bath. The location of the property overlooking the lake was super. Heating was excellent and easy to control. The storage facilities for clothing was spacious. The staff were very friendly and helpful and went the extra mile fixing any issues we had immediately and without fuss.
Settee was not comfortable to sit on for more than 30 mins for both me and my wife. The main double bed mattress was not at all comfortable and springs could be felt. We had to sleep in the spare room on single beds for the first night and we were thinking of curtailing our stay. The staff responded brilliantly to our issue and immediately provided a mattress topper which made the bed bearable to sleep on. A number of internal doors had not been hung correctly and would not stay closed (including the ensuite bathroom door). Parking spaces are good but located a little way from the cottage we were staying in and unfortunately it was pouring with rain when we arrived and had to unpack the car. This meant we and our bags got wet. The outside light did not work on the first evening and it was difficult to see the door lock to unopen and spot the loose paving slabs which created splashes causing wet shoes and feet. Also the back of a dining chair was loose and could have been a hazard for a child or elderly person.
