This home was perfect for our family! We love nature and water. Cappy’s retreat manor you feel like you are surrounded by only nature. A private beach, a sitting area to enjoy the breeze from the river, and a fire pit to enjoy S’mores. This was our first time to Maine and we were not disappointed.

Nice home, with an average view of the river. No A/C, which I learned was pretty common in Maine. The home got pretty warm a few afternoons, where A/C would've been nice. Guest bathroom shower has no hot water and TV requires a Harvard degree, we finally figured it out Day 2. I've listed all the negatives, but it really isn't a bad home. Great kitchen with all the necessities, including a Lobster Pot!! We ran a mile down the road to Hannafords and bought dinner to cook at home, 3 of the 4 nights. Saved us some cash!

Beautiful secluded scenic lot overlooking the river. House is a little older and in need of some updates like the mattresses, more seating area to watch TV, etc. Only there five days and TV went out whenever it rained, one outage took a 57 minutes call to DISH network to get it working. WiFi weak at best and non existent other times. Board games missing parts. As pointed out previously, river access is very difficult and not for kids. No Keurig style coffee maker and knives are butter knife sharp. Some road noise that could bother some, especially when motorcycles go by. There is also a fan that runs constantly that can be heard from MB. Oh. and the dishwasher broke requiring another service request. House was surface clean but when we dropped something and looked under the bed and vanity we saw previous guests stuff. We paid to enjoy the house and not deal with issues and would not stay again.

Cappy's retreat is a wonderful get-a-way. The home is very nice and comfortable with a beautiful setting away from the busy towns. It was well stocked for our needs. We were thankful for the generator as the power went out twice the week we were there but the generator kicked in right away. We enjoyed Stockton Springs and visited Fort Knox. Took a drive to Camden and enjoy many of the local spots in Belgin. Maine is a beautiful place and Cappy's retreat was a perfect house for us. A bigger coffee pot would have been nice and be aware of the steep driveway but it's very manageable. All in all it was a great vacation. I would stay here again.

Nice vacation home that need new beds and faster wifi
View of the river, kitchen, trees surrounding the house. But beds are not good. Wifi was too slow. I did not know that the short road leading to the house was unpaved, somewhat steep, and narrow until I got there.

Terrible beds. All 6 of them. Need immediate replacement. Slow wifi. Did not know the road leading to the unit is unpaved.

Nice place. Thank you for sharing your beautiful place with our family❤️
We really enjoyed our stay here. 50 minutes to the Arcadia National park. Mattresses could be updated. One bathroom had low water pressure for shower and the sink was plugged. Other than that we had everything we needed for our stay and really enjoyed our view from the upper and lower decks. Would definitely stay again here. Oh! Be sure to bring mosquitoe spray there out all day and night lol

2 week stay, July 2021.
Upon arrival the house had been immaculately cleaned. No issues at all. We noticed a very minor issue with one of the kitchen cabinets and they had maintenance staff over within a few hours to address. The house and kitchen were well equipped and lacked for nothing. Appliances were excellent. Seating in the living room was limited for the size of the house and we supplemented with the outdoor furniture. The outside deck was well appointed with a great gas grill. While the house is advertised as having wifi, this area of Maine doesn’t appear to offer the bandwidth necessary for any sort of teleworking. No fault of the owners, just the reality of the area.
The Penobscot River was beautiful backdrop to the property, but access to the water was very challenging on property. The access coupled with extreme Maine tides did not allow for utilization of the water on property. We did utilize Sandy Point Beach (1.5 miles away) as a nice alternate. We also visited Swan Lake several times (20 minutes away). This lake offered great swimming for small children. Bucksport (3 miles away) has a nice supermarket and a variety of simple dining options.
We had a very relaxing vacation with our children and granddaughter and would recommend this location.

What a lovely and spacious home!
Our family had a blast while staying at Cappy's Retreat. The house is beautiful! We also loved the privacy it provided. We are planning to return next year.

Beautiful house but…
A beautiful house on a secluded lot overlooking the river made for a great evening on the yard deck. The only Point of concern was that the bed mattresses have some age and was difficult to get a good nights sleep. Otherwise, the house is well-equipped and will entertain a large family easily. We will certainly return for another family vacation once the mattresses have been updated.

Peaceful and beautiful!
This house was quiet and peaceful with a beautiful view of the river. The house was clean and well stocked. There are ceiling fans throughout which was helpful because it was very hot this week. We spent most of our time in Acadia/Bar Harbor which was about an hour away. There is a store kind of around the corner in Bucksport. There was a bad storm one day and the power went out but there is a generator on the property which worked beautifully. All in all it was a wonderful trip in a beautiful location!

Perfect Stay
This house was perfect for our group of 7! It’s private, roomy, has great views/property and is a quick hour drive to Acadia National Park where we spent most of each day. Would highly recommend this property and would absolutely go back.

Great Getaway
Great get away house for groups! The house was clean, well kept, and well stocked. The patio and fire pit area completed the property perfectly, and it was extremely private (no unexpected visitors).
I can’t speak much if things to do around the property other than Acadia State Park which was beautiful. Overall I highly recommend this house and would definitely stay again.
Side note: there is a hidden path to get to the water, but there is deep mud (knee high in some areas). I don’t believe the water is really meant to go in as large charter board pass by - but it’s very pretty to look at!
I would absolutely book this property again
