There was a wonderful welcome box when we arrived filled with breads, eggs and other goodies in case we were to tired to get grocery! Fresh flowers in most of the rooms which made us feel very welcome. Lots of windows so plenty of light in all the rooms. Suggestions from previous guests too. Would love to go back.
Nothing !! It was a great stay.

Lovely cottage in idyllic surroundings. Has everything you’d need and is really comfortable with bags of character. And Lynda the host is utterly brilliant.

The Cottage is located in a beautiful part of Northern Ireland. Just 15 mins from town, it was the perfect place to take some ‘time out’. Lynda is a brilliant host with excellent communication. She made the whole process easy. The cottage is well equipped with everything you need and the ‘welcome basket’ was icing on the cake. Would highly recommend.
Nothing, it was perfect for our stay

Cottage was fantastic very quiet and very comfortable it has all you need big garden for the kids and lynda was very good host and will do her up most to see that you are OK with Cottage. Me and wife and the two oldest grandchildren will be looking to go back in the future as we loved it that much great view of the mountains and no noisy neighbours just cows and sheep. The property was spotlessly clean with modern facilities without altering the charm of the cottage. The host was very amicable and although we didn't meet in person, made every effort to ensure our stay was pleasurable by electronic methods or family contact. Not over bearing but also not neglected, the right amount of contact for us. The setting is stunning, with views towards the mountains and with cattle and sheep in the pastures. The colour of the gorse ( or I have been told locally known as whinney) was particularly vibrant and enclosed the fields as a dry stone wall would. You can if you wish travel with relatively ease to local towns , mountains - Slieve Groob or Windy Gap and the coast. The road to the cottage is a country lane and the journey made interesting by the number of lambs that wander the lane but somehow sneak back into the fields when we approached. Wifi and TV reception is good if that needs to be part of your consideration but the sound of nature - birds, cattle and the odd bit of wind make this location very relaxing. There was a children's Wendy house in the garden, DVDs, books and games available if required.
Nothing that I can think of.

The main advantage is the good location and peace and quiet. The cottage is furnished very comfortably and at the same time in traditional style with decorative elements that give the place character. Extremely clean. The Host was available at all times and responded quickly to inquiries.

The view was wonderfull, cottage itself beautifull, tidy and well equipped. Beds were comfortable. Our host was very friendly and helpfull.
Some advice for shower would have been usefull, but we managed to find out how it works:)

The house is as enchanting on the inside as it looks from the outside. It was spotlessly clean and well provided with towels and linen. Although on her own holidays, our host Lynda was exceptional and never failed to respond by text to our irritating enquiries.
No complaints, although some visitors may find the location a bit remote. It is a 15 minute drive down narrow roads to Castlewellan and a further 10 minutes to Newcastle. However the immediate area is very quiet and quite scenic, and has a number of interesting archaeological features.

Lynda was such a brilliant host, she had even left a treat box and lovely note for the family. I loved how she messaged making sure we were comfortable and had no problems. The house was spotless that you would have thought Mrs Hitch cleaned it.

the cottage was amazing, clean well cared for and in excellent condition. The location was in a quiet area with lots of lanes to walk and a good place to move out from and explore. Another bonus was that it was pet friendly. The owner was very helpful and friendly and there was a welcome pack on arrival. Overall one of the best places that we have stayed.
Couldn't fault this stay - everything excellent and to a very high standard.

Whitehill Cottage is a beautiful, comfortable house in a great location for exploring the Mournes. The fact it is also dog friendly makes it perfect for us.

The place was beautifully decorated and the character of the cottage was maintained. The house was modernised sympathetically and we had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. The hostess kept in touch and left me a welcome note, birthday card and cake as a treat. The outside of the building is very well maintained. We had a pleasant surprise when we came home late one night to lit up trees and outdoor play house. It os a beautiful setting perfect for a peaceful retreat. There are lovely walks and view points in cose proximity to the building.
The cottage is remote, but we were happy with that. The mattresses were very solid in some rooms. More towels would be a great addition. 👍
