Heading east along the A31 the city of Southampton is approx 18 miles distant (from Ringwood) via the M27, and onwards to London via the M3. Such a great property with all its quirks as a thatched cottage. Perfectly situated with easy access to the coast and the New Forest.

We stayed at The Thatched Cottage last week, for a family group to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary and it was perfect. So modern, clean and cosy, and very well equipped, in a quiet location but within easy reach of supermarkets and restaurants. We were six adults and two boys aged 6 and 7, who loved the bunk beds and the themed rooms. We nabbed the Heart Room with ensuite for ourselves but the family shared the other bathroom and shower room. There was ample hot water, and the heating was efficient though we didn’t need it much. Monkey World, Moors Valley Park and the Heavy Horse Farm were all perfect days out, and the weather behaved itself. Didn’t get to eat at the Sheaf of Arrows unfortunately as it was closed due to sickness, but we took a walk for a beer at the Sixpenny Tap which was lovely. Great instructions and communications from Janice, we have no hesitation in recommending this cottage and would happily stay there again.

THE THATCH COTTAGE IS AN EXCELLENT PROPERTY & THERE IS NO DOUBT THE OWNERS HAVE SPENT A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT SETTING IT UP. UNFORTUNATELY NOT ENOUGH DETAIL WENT INTO THE BATHROOM FACILITIES.
UPON ARRIVAL WE REALISED THAT ONE OF THE THREE BATHROOMS WAS LOCATED ON THE GROUND FLOOR IMMEDIATELY NEXT TO THE REAR FRENCH WINDOWS. THE SECOND SHOWER BATHROOM WAS AN UPSTAIRS ENSUITE BUT THE THIRD BATHROOM INSTEAD OF HAVING A SHOWER FACILITY OVER THE BATH HAD NO SHOWER. BEARING IN MIND THIS IS AN 8 PERSON PROPERTY I THINK IT IS TOTALLY UNREASONABLE TO EXPECT ANYONE LET ALONE PEOPLE ABOVE PENSION AGE TO EITHER ALL SHARE THE ENSUITE OR NEGOTIATE WHAT ARE UNDERSTANDABLY STEEP STAIRS TO WASH DOWNSTAIRS OF A MORNING. WHEN I TELEPHONED THE OWNERS THEY WERE WELL AWARE THE SHOWER HAD BEEN REMOVED BUT OBVIOUSLY HAD DONE NOTHING TO UPDATE THEIR WEBSITE. I DIDN`T FIND THE COMMENT THAT HE WAS SURE PEOPLE ENJOY A BATH VERY HELPFUL. IN ADDITION THAT MAIN BATHROOM HAS NO FAN EXTRACTION FITTED WHICH MEANS IT IS AGAIN VERY AWKWARD FOR MULTIPLE OCCUPANCY AS IT IS THE ONLY UPSTAIRS TOILET OTHER THAN THE BEDROOM ENSUITE. STRANGELY FROM THE OUTSIDE THERE APPEARS TO BE THE EXTRACTION GRILL BUT PRESUMABLY WHEN THE BATHROOM WAS REDECORATED THAT WAS ALSO REMOVED.
FOUR OF US STAYED ALL OF AN AGE. NONE FANCIED PARADING THROUGH THE PROPERTY TO GO FOR A WASH IN THE MORNINGS OR INDEED AFTER RETURNING FROM OUR JOURNEYS. WE WOULD NOT HAVE CHOSEN THIS PROPERTY IF THE FACILITIES HAD BEEN CORRECTLY LISTED

Everything about this lovely home was perfect. Everything you could need is supplied. The bedding was so soft and warm. There were plenty of dishes and cookware. Janice responds so quickly and offered to turn on lights if we arrived late. The yard is as cute as the house. The kids didn’t want to leave. 5 stars over and over.

The process of selecting this property was easy, as was the booking & communication with VRBO as well as the host. The property was amazing, well furnished & equipped, with clear instructions on appliances etcetera & Janice (host) was at the end of a phone should there be any queries. The property was both spacious, stylish & comfortable. The local amenities were great; good pubs & places to eat in Cranborne without using the car. The location was ideal for touring other parts of Dorset too; which we thoroughly enjoyed. The Halfpenny Brewery & tap room are not to be missed - very welcoming & great beers. All together a thoroughly good short break & one which we would like to repeat in the summer to enjoy the garden more.

The property was well located in a village with good amenities and a short drive to the coast at Bournemouth. The kitchen was well equipped and the lounge comfy for evenings in.

We rented for 3 weeks and enjoyed every minute. Family and friends arrived and went during this time and allowed myself and Stacey a week on our own. Cranbourne is well placed as a base to explore. Janice was very accommodating and ensured the property was equipped with everything necessary. (I did purchase a knife sharpener). Only the LA Fosse offered good food in the area which was disappointing.

A home away from home
We spent a fabulous week at The Thatched Cottage and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a home away from home. It is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean with a well-equipped kitchen and comfortable beds. The garden and outside seating area is wonderful, and it was lovely to sit and enjoy the peaceful surroundings and birdlife. The location was superb for our sightseeing day trips to Salisbury, Stonehenge, Corfe Castle, Durdle Door, Bovington and Portsmouth, and the village of Cranborne itself is lovely and quiet with a pretty church and Manor House with beautiful gardens. It also has several restaurants serving great food and a well stocked local store, and everyone was wonderfully friendly. Janice was a fantastic host and provided us with all the information we needed, along with great driving directions and interesting history on the cottage itself. Thanks so much for everything Janice! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to visiting again.

A great stay
My husband, 3 year old daughter and I stayed at the Thatch Cottage for 3 nights and we loved it! We stayed with some family friends who had 2 kids.
It was very clean, beautifully decorated and the beds were comfortable.
The amenities were excellent including a huge TV including Netflix, large garden, a gas BBQ, enough parking for 3 cars. A high chair and a lovely welcome with tea, shortbread, Nespresso coffee capsules, milk and sugar!
The location was perfect for us to drive to Monkey World, Peppa Pig World (Poultons Park) and the beautiful Branksom Chine Beach, all within 30-40 minutes drive away. We also shopped at the local Morrisons which was 10 minutes drive away.
Janice was in constant communication with us from the booking all the way to the end. She was accommodating with our arrival and check out times as well.
There were extra pillows, duvets, if you ever needed it. The house was kitted out with great cleaning products.
If you want a lovely place, with great amenities and excellent communication with the owner. We all would recommend the Thatch cottage and would happily come and stay again.

Easter Family Break
First impressions were great. The property was spotlessly clean and everything we expected. Very well equipped kitchen. Beautiful rooms all of which combined beams, uneven floors and reduced head space with modern conveniences. Comfortable beds with good quality sheets and duvets. Outside there is plenty of space for socializing with various seating areas. The under floor heating in the kitchen area makes it very comfortable when having your morning coffee from the Espresso machine. The village is small and quiet but has two pubs and a great little shop selling local produce including the most delicious sourdough bread from the Orchard Bakery. One thing we missed but not meant as a criticism is that there is little/no internet outside of the WiFi. We struggled to make phone calls at times. Janice (our host) was always available and was very helpful so thank you to her.
Would recommend 100% for a comfortable stay in a village environment.

We had a short but wonderful stay in the Thatched Cottage in Cranborne.
The property was full of character, clean, spacious and well equipped with a lovely mix of traditional and modern features.
The surrounding area was glorious in the spring weather.

New Year at The Thatched Cottage
We have just spent a very enjoyable week over the New Year at this charming thatched cottage in Cranborne. The cottage was warm and cosy, we felt at home as soon as we entered, with lovely Christmas decorations and a much appreciated welcome pack waiting for us. We can’t rate this cottage highly enough from the cleanliness to the high quality fixtures and fittings this is obviously a much loved home with everything we needed and more. Janice was easy to communicate with letting us know when the cottage was ready for our arrival, instructions for the heating etc. There are lovely walks in the area and not to far from the coast. We found the local brewery a ten minute walk away and good pubs in the village (most important!!) We thoroughly enjoyed our stay would not hesitate to visit again. Thanks for everything Janice

Perfect family week in charming Dorset village
We had a wonderful family holiday at the Thatched Cottage. We were a extended family with a toddler and the place was kitted out to perfection! The cottage is really spacious and very charmingly decorated. The kitchen had been expertly equipped, we cooked at home many nights for all of us and there nothing we were missing. The village is small but lovely, perfect size for a toddler to get around. The General store was very convenient and the Garden Centre and cafe are lovely to browse. We didn't eat out at the restaurant La Fosse but it looked amazing. The brewery, close by, was also a treat. We enjoyed their beers and a pizza on Friday night. This was meant to be a Christmas holiday for us all but with Covid we had to delay twice before finally managing to visit. Janice was understanding and flexible each we needed to rearrange. It was worth the wait and we certainly recommend it and hope to visit again.

Charming!
Our family absolutely loved “the Thatched Cottage.” We had everything thing we needed! The house is warm and inviting with modern touches that complimented the historic features. The location was perfect for a trip to the beach, a visit to the Tank Museum and to Stonehenge! The village is idyllic—there’s the church with its 1000 monastic origins and Norman features and there’s also a charity book shop with a collection of used new and old/antique books. The local garden center has a lovely cafe for breakfast/lunch—I was especially thrilled to find a selection of Gluten Free choices. Our only regret is not having a longer holiday to really enjoy all that the Thatched Cottage had to offer!

Superb base for exploring and relaxing
We so enjoyed our stay at The Thatched Cottage in Cranbourne. We were two couples and the space allowed us to both have a lovely bedroom and our own bathrooms. The three reception rooms were lovely and we had a few great meals in - cooked in the well equipped kitchen and eaten in the spacious dining room. We were unable to get booked into The Fosse, the local restaurant but enjoyed many fun times in the Fleur de Lys pub. Swum in the sea off Hengistbury Head Beach, visited Hardys Cottage, walked in the New Forest (with the ponies) and did a lot of shopping! Would heartily recommend a visit (or two) to the garden centre in the village and Wimborne Minster (pubs galore). We would love to stay again as we feel a week was just not long enough.

Lovely week in beautiful Dorset
The cottage is fantastic inside with everything that you need and has a fabulous seating area and enclosed garden outside. The village itself has two pubs, a restaurant and a nearby brewery so there are easy eating and drinking options on your doorstep. It is a great location for exploring the surrounding countryside, the New Forest and nearby beaches.

This cottage was everything and more than we expected. The attention to detail was exceptional. How could not having an ice cream scoop be the worst fault we came across ?The Sheaf of Arrows is a good pub, the Fleur de Les is a more expensive but great staff. We discovered the Sixpenny Brewery on our last day, which was probably a good thing as I think it could have been very messy.Janice was a superb host. Which could be thought of as strange, when you consider we never saw each other.

The Thatched Cottage, Cranbourne is ideally situated right in the centre of the village and is beautifully appointed with a lovely large garden and outside patio with barbeque. We were a gang of four (two couples) in our 60's & 70's and found it to be very comfortable all round. We also had electric bikes with us so it was great to have a locked garage with power for charging. We honestly couldn't find any fault with the property and Janice was very attentive all the way through the booking and our stay.Cranborne itself has several eating places which were all good and then there is the added benefit of nearby village pubs and restaurants. The Crane Valley golf club was also very welcoming and it is very easy to get into the beautiful West side of the New Forest by bike as well as car. The local area is also superb for walking and visiting the very local Cranborne Manor House gardens is a must.We had a great week there!Nigel

It is a lovely cottage and very well fitted out. The village is small but has useful store as well as good eating and drinking places. The only downside is the traffic, outside of the school runs, passing close by which was more than you would expect for a small village.
