The Thatched Cottage is a stunning example of a renovated Grade II listed cottage, situated in a conservation area in the idyllic village of Cranborne, within the rural retreat of Cranborne Chase; an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This beautifully presented property, which originally dates back to the 1600's, seamlessly blends a wealth of character features with bespoke modern fixtures and fittings, to provide a spacious and comfortable accommodation throughout. The secluded grounds comprise of well maintained gardens, a good sized parking area and a detached barn incorporating a double garage,

This charming cottage is positioned in a convenient location within the heart of Cranborne village centre, with all the local amenities nearby. This peaceful and pretty village has a village shop, two good public houses, two hotels with restaurants which also include a Country Club and a Stately Home - Cranborne Manor incorporating a garden centre and tea rooms. There is also great beer at The Six Penny Brewery with its Tap bar open to the public everyday and is just a 10 minute stroll through the lovely countryside. The medieval village lies within the beautiful countryside of Cranborne Chase, designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty.
The well known nearby market towns of Ringwood and Wimborne, which are approximately ten miles distant, offer excellent shopping facilities with both having a Waitrose supermarket. The superb outdoor pursuits in the area include; walking, riding and cycling at Cranborne Chase or within the New Forest, approx seven miles away. The cathedral city of Salisbury is approx eighteen miles distant. The A31 and A338 are easily accessed at Ringwood, and heading south-west you will reach Bournemouth, Poole and the coast. Heading east along the A31 the city of Southampton is approx 18 miles distant (from Ringwood) via the M27, and onwards to London via the M3. Paultons Park with its Peppa Pig World is also just a short drive away. There are many attractions nearby including Hollybrook Farm just 5 minutes drive away, The Heavy Horse Center, Monkey World, The Tank Museum, Sealife Center, Moor’s Valley Country Park plus many more. The amazing sandy beaches in Bournemouth and Sandbanks are also just a short drive away.

A covered thatched porch and front door opens into a particularly spacious reception hall, finished with attractive wood-block flooring and comprising an oak staircase rising to the first floor and beams to the ceiling (which also feature in the two principal reception rooms). Adjacent, the elegant sitting room has a double aspect, with an inglenook fireplace providing an attractive focal point. The second reception room is a dining room, and also features an impressive brick inglenook fireplace and wood-block flooring, and is semi-open plan to the rear aspect kitchen/breakfast room, which has underfloor heating. The modern kitchen is fitted with a good range of cream units, with granite work-surfaces and a range of quality integrated Neff appliances, including a dishwasher, fridge/freezer, inset oven, combination oven and induction hob. The breakfast area offers a breakfast table with a glazed roof above providing ample natural light and French doors opening onto the beautiful gardens. A separate utility room houses further appliances. Leading off the kitchen is a useful shower room with a WC, which is fully tiled.

From the first floor landing are four bedrooms and a beautifully presented family bathroom suite; with underfloor heating and comprising an oval bath, pedestal wash basin and WC. The well appointed master bedroom has the benefit of a built in wardrobe at the side of the chimney breast and a quality fitted en-suite shower room, which includes a large walk in shower cubicle. Both bathroom suites feature attractive window shutters. Bedrooms two and three have an aspect to the front, whilst bedroom four has a rear aspect and a walk in wardrobe. Unlike many traditional thatched cottages which have restricted head height, this cottage boasts exceptional headroom throughout the majority of the property.

There is vehicular access around the side of the property, through a five bar gate, to a good sized shingle parking area and the substantial detached Barn, which incorporates a double garage with twin doors. The gardens are beautifully maintained and are mainly laid to lawn, with a superb terrace positioned to make the most of the evening sun, bordered by pretty flower/shrub beds and mature hedge rows.

Such a great property with all its quirks as a thatched cottage. Perfectly situated with easy access to the coast and the New Forest.

We stayed at The Thatched Cottage last week, for a family group to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary and it was perfect. So modern, clean and cosy, and very well equipped, in a quiet location but within easy reach of supermarkets and restaurants. We were six adults and two boys aged 6 and 7, who loved the bunk beds and the themed rooms. We nabbed the Heart Room with ensuite for ourselves but the family shared the other bathroom and shower room. There was ample hot water, and the heating was efficient though we didn’t need it much. Monkey World, Moors Valley Park and the Heavy Horse Farm were all perfect days out, and the weather behaved itself. Didn’t get to eat at the Sheaf of Arrows unfortunately as it was closed due to sickness, but we took a walk for a beer at the Sixpenny Tap which was lovely. Great instructions and communications from Janice, we have no hesitation in recommending this cottage and would happily stay there again.

THE THATCH COTTAGE IS AN EXCELLENT PROPERTY & THERE IS NO DOUBT THE OWNERS HAVE SPENT A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT SETTING IT UP. UNFORTUNATELY NOT ENOUGH DETAIL WENT INTO THE BATHROOM FACILITIES. UPON ARRIVAL WE REALISED THAT ONE OF THE THREE BATHROOMS WAS LOCATED ON THE GROUND FLOOR IMMEDIATELY NEXT TO THE REAR FRENCH WINDOWS. THE SECOND SHOWER BATHROOM WAS AN UPSTAIRS ENSUITE BUT THE THIRD BATHROOM INSTEAD OF HAVING A SHOWER FACILITY OVER THE BATH HAD NO SHOWER. BEARING IN MIND THIS IS AN 8 PERSON PROPERTY I THINK IT IS TOTALLY UNREASONABLE TO EXPECT ANYONE LET ALONE PEOPLE ABOVE PENSION AGE TO EITHER ALL SHARE THE ENSUITE OR NEGOTIATE WHAT ARE UNDERSTANDABLY STEEP STAIRS TO WASH DOWNSTAIRS OF A MORNING. WHEN I TELEPHONED THE OWNERS THEY WERE WELL AWARE THE SHOWER HAD BEEN REMOVED BUT OBVIOUSLY HAD DONE NOTHING TO UPDATE THEIR WEBSITE. I DIDN`T FIND THE COMMENT THAT HE WAS SURE PEOPLE ENJOY A BATH VERY HELPFUL. IN ADDITION THAT MAIN BATHROOM HAS NO FAN EXTRACTION FITTED WHICH MEANS IT IS AGAIN VERY AWKWARD FOR MULTIPLE OCCUPANCY AS IT IS THE ONLY UPSTAIRS TOILET OTHER THAN THE BEDROOM ENSUITE. STRANGELY FROM THE OUTSIDE THERE APPEARS TO BE THE EXTRACTION GRILL BUT PRESUMABLY WHEN THE BATHROOM WAS REDECORATED THAT WAS ALSO REMOVED. FOUR OF US STAYED ALL OF AN AGE. NONE FANCIED PARADING THROUGH THE PROPERTY TO GO FOR A WASH IN THE MORNINGS OR INDEED AFTER RETURNING FROM OUR JOURNEYS. WE WOULD NOT HAVE CHOSEN THIS PROPERTY IF THE FACILITIES HAD BEEN CORRECTLY LISTED

Everything about this lovely home was perfect. Everything you could need is supplied. The bedding was so soft and warm. There were plenty of dishes and cookware. Janice responds so quickly and offered to turn on lights if we arrived late. The yard is as cute as the house. The kids didn’t want to leave. 5 stars over and over.
