fair price, nice view from the veranda, hot shower
Uncomfortable beds & pillows, very cold (blankets not warming), no shared kitchen (had to ask to borrow dishes & toilets not clean (had to ask for toilet paper), service not good

There was no breakfast
the way is up to hill, but it has nothing to do with the place

Nothing
We booked a private room with shared bathroom. The shared bathroom was in a horrible state as if it hasn’t been cleaned for months. It was dark, walls were all wet, loads of rubbish on the floor, a rotten plank to step on to have shower, soap to wash hands were full of hair. We didn’t dare to use it more than it was necessary.
The room conditions was very poor. It didn’t feel clean at all. It was also humid and cold. We couldn’t sleep as we didn’t feel safe and also disgusted.
We didn’t dare to explore any other facilities and left the next morning.

Nothing to like. A place people go to when everything else is booked.
The first thing I encountered after arriving on site - the owner tried to scam me to double-pay for the accommodation, saying that online payment through Booking.com didn't go though (which was a lie) and asking me to pay in cash. I stood my ground and she pretended that suddenly everything was okay.
Rooms extremely basic, just bare concrete. Nothing was clean. Would not recommend to stay.

I’ve arrived at 12, and I couldn’t get my room, got to leave part of my staff at the kitchen cuz i wanted to go out. Bathroom was clean but to rough. No lock at he rooms door, didn’t feel safe to leave my stuff on my room.

It was very cheap and Evelyn was very very nice. They provide breakfast, which was nice and the place is super central. I had a great time. You should definitely consider it. Recommended, loved it.
It is an economical place and travelers should be aware that there are things which may not be considered appropriate for more picky people. I wouldn't let this get in the way of a good time, but there were things which were not entirely as they should be. I had no issues with any of these things all things considered.

I like the style, raw and creative. Cool paintings and room.
Not too comfortable bed / pillow.

Amazing view and staff

The food was ok
The room was so cold. The bed was very springy and the pillows were completely terrible. The bathroom was the grossest bathroom I have ever experienced. The staff members were a bit cold to us. For the price, this is a terrible place to stay. They do sell the stuff that everyone comes to San Jose del Pacifico though!
3.5
Located in a beautiful quiet area, the personal that run the hostal and the canteen make one really feel at home and part of the family, wonderful for spending an evening at the fire on the terrace chatting with other guests! The food in the canteen/restaurant is basic, but varied and good and the kitchen is open till late if you feel like a snack before bed. The hot spiced chocolate on a cold mountain night is absolutely amazing, so is their tea from fresh herbs from the garden!
One should not expect hotel-level comfort then all's quite Ok. The toilets might require flushing from the bucket outside, the showers would be cold in the morning, the sound isolation between the rooms is minimal so chatty neighbours might be an issue. Some guests claimed that they had a very hard bed - cannot confirm that myself, but still.

Really friendly staff, breakfast was included and delicious. Location was very central, easy to walk into town.
Bed was super hard

Barebones rooms in a ramshackle shack-like building. Old very lumpy pillows and linens of questionable cleanliness. communal toilet is outside the building. It has no toilet seat and does not flush.

The staff were great, the food excellent, and the company of fellow travelers always good. The view was spectacular, and the stars through my window at night incredible.
A seat on the toilet would be nice. Had to wait to have the hot water turned on in the morning.

No breakfast. Host did move us away from the busy highway on the second night. The room we have now has a wonderful shower.

The spot was ok
I believed with a kitchen and a cook that there would be food available...not really the case at all.
5.0
The view from the room was unbeatable (sunset and sunrise from the bed). The position was incredible and the stuff was very welcoming (we really appreciate the food the owner prepared). We stayed in a private room and we suggest it, but If you aspect something fancy and classy, go in another place or another town 😀
