About this house rental
Nido Marina (Coastal Nest) Casita
***NEW MASTER SUITE***
Nido Marina Casita is an upscale casita located in the hills above Dominicalito and located in a small, gated community. The casita was completed at the beginning of 2017 and just completed a new Master Suite addition in June of 2022.
Nido Marina Casita is now available as the perfect retreat for couples or family who want a relaxing vacation home with year-round sunsets and a Pacific Ocean view reaching from Punta Dominical all the way to Manual Antonio. This is a magical place where the rainforest meets the ocean and provides amazing views in all directions. Only 5 minutes from the main highway, Nido Marina is away from the traffic, high enough to receive lovely breezes and take advantage of sweeping views.
Nido Marina offers 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with a spacious open living area and kitchen. The features include ocean views from the master bedroom and jungle/garden views from the second bedroom, local hardwood cabinets and doors, dramatic vaulted pine ceilings, large windows and sliding doors with screens to enjoy the ocean breezes, and stone surfaced terraces and walkways. The covered terrace with comfortable seating and dining area is the perfect spot for morning coffee and evening cocktails, and is adjacent to the infinity edge pool and gas grill. There are 2 pool lounge chairs with cushions so you can enjoy a comfortable afternoon by the pool. The front courtyard also offers a shady spot to enjoy the sounds of the jungle and garden views.
After having a restful nights sleep in the king size bed in the newly constructed Master Suite the sun will rise each morning at 5:30 am and the jungle will greet you with sounds of chirping birds and howler monkeys. The Blue Morpho butterfly is a common site seen floating through the garden and around the pool. The toucans fly by frequently and often land in the trees nearby to feast on the many fruits on offer.
During the day you can take a short hike around the property and have the chance to see the white face capuchin monkeys, an array of gorgeous birds, and perhaps even a sloth. As the day winds down it is nice to sit on the porch and enjoy a beverage or grill dinner and watch the boats come in to Dominicalito Bay after a day of fishing as the sun sets behind them.
The newly constructed Master Suite is large and spacious and includes a king size bed with Serta Mattress, large master bath with outdoor shower, and private deck/balcony.
The second bedroom also has a king size bed and has a great ocean view.
The third bedroom has two twin size beds and is great for children sharing a room.
All of the beds have quality linens and pillows, air conditioning, and a small desk area.
The shared bathroom features a walk in shower.
A washer/dryer is provided for your convenience, as well as all linens, including pool towels.
Should you choose to stay in and cook, the kitchen with granite counters and stainless appliances has all of the essential items one may need. Additionally, a gas grill poolside is perfect for an afternoon grill out.
For those who want to stay connected, we have high speed Internet, and Smart TV's that connect to Netflix for entertainment.
“The Nest” is inviting and comfortable and you may find it difficult to leave, however there is much to explore in the area. We have a pristine coastline that is spoiled with many beautiful beaches and ocean activities as well as the lush mountains that offer incredible adventures and wildlife. Some of the activities that are available are: surfing lessons, fishing, zip-lines, horseback rides on the beach or through the jungle to a waterfall, whale watching, guided mangrove river tours, nature preserves, yoga classes, massages and more. Adam, the property manager, is at your service to assist you with setting up the best excursions (he will also help with car rental and/or transport from the airport in San Jose).
Please note: the roads are well maintained, however a 4WD vehicle is necessary for your stay at Nido Marina, and is recommended for any travel throughout Costa Rica.
For dining, there are many great restaurants in the area. 10 minutes away in Dominical you can enjoy unique restaurants and coffee shops with food options that range from local specialties, fresh fish and natural and gluten free health foods to Asian cuisine. In Uvita, which is 15 minutes away, you will find excellent dining options including mouth watering BBQ, pizza and milkshakes. If you would like an intimate dining experience with excellent food and customer service then Exotica in Ojochal is an excellent choice. The owners, Lucy and her husband are the most gracious hosts you will ever meet and have been serving incredible food for over 20 years. Be sure to save room for dessert! For a fun experience without leaving the mountain, there is Bar Jolly Roger, 5 minutes from the casita. The menu consists of chicken wings and burgers, and frequently have live music and is also one of the best places to watch a sports match.
As mentioned earlier, Nido Marina has a nearby property and rental managers. Adam and Miguel are the managers for the casita and can help you should you need assistance during your stay.
Adam hails from Texas, but has lived in Costa Rica for 10 years and has a wealth of knowledge. Miguel is tico and has many local contacts and has lived in the area all of his life.
They can assist with rental cars, excursions, reservations, etc.
We look forward to your time at the Nido Marina Casita and are committed to ensure your stay is amazing and full of unforgettable memories.

Beautiful place. The quality of the house is exceptional.
The view is stunning and we had lots of bird sightings sitting on the porch.
Really appreciated the basic spices, coffee already there. Would highly recommend as long as you have 4x4 vehicle.

Amazing home in Dominical - fantastic views, gorgeous pool, AC in the bedrooms, nicely appointed, very responsive host. Highly recommend this place!

The drive up to the house is like a mini-adventure in itself, but easily tackled with a good 4WD SUV. Once we parked and got out, we were amazed at the beautiful landscaping. Once we got into the house, were blown away by the view. The pictures, although gorgeous, did not do them justice.
The house was spacious and well appointed. The outdoor shower in the master was unbelievable. We spent a lot of time out on the deck overlooking the lush plants and the beach below, relaxing in the pool. This a lot to do in the area, depending on your flavor. The weather, at that altitude, was perfect. Adam, the host, was very responsive to any questions or concerns I had. We could not have picked a better house to vacation in.

The house is beautiful!! The pool and the view is absolutely breathtaking!!! The 4x4 trek up the mountain was soooo much fun for my family!!! Thanks alot. Very communicative as well.

This place is fantastic! Master suite is so cool and with an awesome indoor / outdoor shower. House was really well stocked with everything we needed. For example, the binoculars were a surprise and gave us much better views of the incredible bird life. Towels /board games / beach supplies ! Manager was timely with communication and the place was immaculately kept. 4x4 an absolute must. Our three kids (7 yrs - 12 yrs) loved it!

The first 4 wheel drive up to the blue casita was a bit thrilling but certainly doable and not scary at all! We spent a wonderful month relaxing in the midst of beautiful and unique birds that filled the surrounding jungle and keeping cool in the lovely infinity pool. The casita is very private and skinny dipping under the dramatic sky is dreamy. Everything you need is within about a 15 minute drive to Uvita or Dominical. Many outdoor adventures are nearby including a 3 hour mangrove tour near Sierpe with Kokopelli Mangrove Tours and whale and dolphin tour with Pacific Expeditions. Highly recommend both. A huge variety of great restaurants surround the area. We especially enjoyed Scala for an upscale meal, Los Laureles in Uvita was run by Cindy who treated us as family (and whose husband makes the best cinnamon rolls ever on Fridays - but you have to order them in advance, La Parcela- right on the water a bit south of where our road met the highway, The Beehive restaurant in Uvita, and so many more for you to discover! We had numerous inquiries during the month and Adam, the casita manager, was so very attentive to every question or need. The support people - gardener and pool tender - were so kind and unobtrusive - always announcing their presence if they needed to come into an area where we were . 2 large modern grocery stores were nearby in Uvita but we much preferred the traditional store on the highway heading into Dominical. The owner was very helpful.

Beautiful home and well maintained lush grounds with colorful shrubs, bushes, and tropical flowers. Views are amazing. We had 4 adults, and 4 children ages 5, 4, and twin 2 1/2 year olds, and plenty of room for everyone. We were in the pool every single day, and saw various birds, wildlife, and a couple of monkeys in the trees with binoculars provided in the house. 4 x 4 with ample clearance to the road is required without question. We had to switch our 4 wheel drive for one that had more clearance because the first one drug on the gravel road. The drive in and out is a challenge so be prepared, but consider it part of the experience. A monkey and a huge snake crossed in front of us on the drive down one day. The pictures are accurate and property is truly beautiful. Electricity on the mountain flickered but only really went out 1 time that lasted 2 hours. Internet works mostly but it did go out one evening but was repaired quickly the next morning. Adam was very responsive and helpful. Oscar the grounds keeper is very sweet and is around keeping things beautiful but is very stealth and we rarely saw him.

Everything was great. Location, amenities communication with owner. I recommend without hesitation.

Blue house, as our family called it. We had so much fun, what a location, ocean, mountain and jungle view all in one!!
House had all the amenities one would need on vacation. You can cook food or grill outside by the pool. The pool is quite deep and feels larger then the pictures suggest. The house overall feels very spacious and airy. The view is incredible! We didn’t see any monkeys but we heard them, and spotted several birds. The drive up the mountain was overwhelming the first time as it was pouring down and we had a small Suzuki Vitara, but after that first time we quite enjoyed trekking up and down several times a day. Close to restaurants, groceries, beaches and everything else one might need. There is waterfall with a swimming pool on the way up as well. Worth the stop.
Adam was super accessible and helpful with our many questions. We would love to come back!

The House is beautiful and faces the Pacific on one side and the jungle on the other. Gorgeous landscaping and gardens extremely well maintained by a sweet gardener named Oscar! (We share a love for gardening so I was delighted to meet him). The pool is very clean and refreshing after a hot day out and about. The Grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed it.
The kitchen is gas so if power is out you can still cook - which is great! And there is a very nice outside grill area which is covered as well! You truly must have a 4x4 vehicle to drive up and down the mountainous region. Be sure to arrive before dark to acclimate to the hills and area. If you've never driven a 4x4 up a mountain, it can be daunting but it only takes a couple of times to get acclimated to it!
We were here in July, which is the rainy season, so there were power outages every day. (Be prepared for this as it gets hot).
We had an issue the first day with our rented vehicle and the property manager and his assistant were spectacular in helping us get it resolved quickly and easily. (Kudos to the Uvita Adobe car rental folks)!
There are several stores in the neighborhood at the bottom of the mountain and they have fresh food and nearly anything you need in a pinch! There is a great swimming area by a waterfall down the mountain as well!
Kids loved the rope swing!
Overall - great location!
Thank you Adam and Miguel!

Beautiful house with stunning outdoor views of jungle and ocean, unforgettable sunsets and starlit skies. New suite is comfortable, but small room with two beds is too small for teenagers + suitcases. A/C only in rooms. Location feels isolated and remote. You will see no one (maybe one or two cars a day). You will definitely have to muster up courage for the drive to the house. Get a Luxury 4x4 from Alamo. Because of the road and the remote location, we found ourselves avoiding any activities that had us out at night or when it looked like it would rain. Restaurants and stores are in Uvita, a 15-20min drive away. I wish we had stayed in Uvita, closer to everything we needed, not to mention, people!
It would have been nice for the house to have supplies (candles, battery-powered lights, working flashlights) for frequent power outages. No electricity means no Wi-Fi (communication via WhatsApp), TV, or A/C. We had a 16hr outage. Even in good weather, the Internet is unreliable, hindering work and communication. My husband had to go find a co-working space in Uvita. Rinse your dishes before using them because geckos are not just high up near the ceiling. House managers are helpful, but they could have put some more thought into the guest experience. For example, hooks for wet items (towels, bathing suits) better lighting (lamps) in the bedroom, and more comfortable seating to watch TV together. Overall, enjoyable stay. I hope this review helps you manage your expectations.

We were super excited about staying here - the photos look gorgeous. Unfortunately I have to say this property did not live up to the hype. It bills itself as a luxury property and while many things are there are some things that are in need of updating - they have replaced the couch with something that is neither attractive or comfortable. The bedrooms have ac units, but the common areas do not. The shower in the master got luke warm at best and doesn't have a shower door - what a waste of what should have been an amazing shower experience. Every dish we used had to be washed - everything in the cabinets was dirty and the knives were a joke. The blender had black looking stuff inside - maybe coffee grounds from someone grinding coffee in it. The cups had bugs in them and the plates had food residue. The view is amazing from almost every room which somewhat makes up for it, but the pool has tiles missing, bugs floating and on the bottom too - even right after we checked in. I have never stayed at another property billed as luxury and had so many issues with cleanliness.

We loved the house and all the amenities but spent most of our time taking in the magnificent view. Access is easy with 4 wheel drive and the spot is convenient for food and sightseeing.

We enjoyed our stay. We stayed with our two children, 7 and 10. The house is beautiful and sunsets from the pool were amazing. The driveway is so steep that even with the 4x4, it was inconvenient but not enough to make us not like the house. We would stay again, especially if the driveway was paved, which we heard from a neighbor is in the works. We came with a spirit of adventure and that's what we got. There is a small waterfall on the road up from Dominicalito where we found about 10 monkeys playing in the creek bed.

What an amazing property with an amazing view and great management!
We were traveling with our 2 year old and everything felt safe. She loved the pool as the temperature was perfect! In the morning we woke up daily to the sounds of the howler monkeys and the last night we were there, we saw toucans very near us.
The property has everything you need including a cooler and towels. The outside shower was amazing! The management was awesome and responded quickly. We like to stay new places when we visit each time, but we may be back here again soon as we love the surrounding area and beaches.

The entire family loved our stay! Definitely need a 4 wheel drive automobile

The property is amazing with million dollar view in a million dollar home. The host was amazing at communicating and helping with information. We did have an infant 19 months and we were diligent at monitoring her with limited garden space, but the pool area made it very comfortable. One thing about Costa Rica is the roads and a 4x4 is a must! Don’t let th let rental companies switch up your rental or you will have an adventure trying to get to the property, but really you need it as the locals do not want there roads ruined. We appreciated everything and coming back to further explore the beauty of C.R. is a must!

The place met and exceeded our expectations. The newest bedroom and master bath were gorgeous. Even though it is a small space, there were multiple places to relax and enjoy the outdoors and the nature. It was comfortable, well supplied, and the view along with the sunsets were fabulous.

We had a great time. The host was very helpful and communicated well. Beautiful house. Very accomodating. Had a great time with our teenage children.

Great location and view
Saw a perfect sunset and had one night of unlimited stars. All from the pool! You definitely need a 4x4 to get there, but totally worth it. :)

Great place to relax and unwind :)
Wonderful property! You absolutely need a 4x4 and confidence in driving, but the view and house is soooooo worth it! Great place to relax and unwind. All your needs are met in one place.

Very nice, beautiful and relaxing
This is a very nice and comfortable casita with a couple of minor issues that kept it from a five star rating. The house was just "surface" cleaned, not really sufficient for us. It looked like the cleaners just did a quickover and left. My wife had to reclean the house. The outside grill area was not clean so we did not use it. We left the casita cleaner than we found it. Secondly, the microwave never worked even though it was supposed to be repaired. We never saw the property manager - not a big deal but would have been a nice touch.
The house and grounds are very lovely. The pool is nice for a couple, but a bit small for more than two folks. The view is absolutely amazing - which makes this home worth the trip! The casita layout is nice and the one bathroom was very good. The drive up from the Costanera highway (34) is a bit challenging and you will definitely need a real 4X4 to get to the house. Directions were spot on. The drive is very well worth the challenge. And, after a few trips up and back down, you get used to it. Look at it as an adventure. Heard howler monkeys every day and saw toucans everywhere. We loved staying here and would do so again for sure. It is a great place for a couple. Adam, the property manger is very nice and quickly communicated with us when we texted him. We highly recommend that you stay here if it fits your needs.

Brilliant Views and Lovely Home
We enjoyed a fantastic stay and the pics on the website really don't show just how amazing that view is. I would sit out there at 5am each morning and listen for the jungle coming to life. Lots of Howler monkeys and a couple toucans. The need for a 4 wheel drive vehicle is real!! Be sure to visit Pizza Time, amazing pizza. Miguel the house manager was really helpful and quick to respond to any questions we had. Would love to go back someday very soon!

Cutting corners
There few things that were definitely off during our recent stay at Marina vista 2 that we want to address. My wife and I also manage multiple VRBO/Airbnb rentals and take pride in the fact that we offer extremely clean accommodations with higher end and newer bedding towels and toiletries based upon our per night charge.
When we arrived at this rental we found that the mattress of the bed was pushed to the left exposing about 45 inched of the support slats of the bed. It looked as though it had not been cleaned for many months, as there was hair, dead skin , and other matter there. we had to clean it up. In addition, the main sleeping pillows need replaced as the filling is separating and creating balls of filling. There seem to be quite old, have stains on them and they are uncomfortable.
The listing claims that this is a luxury property and as such having the utmost cleanliness, and quality bedding is of imperative importance. I am sending photos to the rental manager so he is aware.

Small getaway home with great views!
Nice small 2 bedroom home that is in great location above Dominicalito. Definitely need 4x4 as recommended but well worth it for the view of the Pacific Ocean and shoreline. To date have stayed at a total of 4 rentals in this area of the country on this trip and by far this one had the most animals and birds to see. Location very private based on being small gated community. Home is somewhat older than the other new ones I have stayed and does need some minor maintenance such as dislodged pool tiles, window screens that don’t fully seat, and kitchen utensils that require upgrading. Also area had issue with home water supply and being the start to weekend was challenge for service management to assist but luckily had great neighbor that spent an entire day correcting and assisting me to return it back to service for my stay.
Overall great place for small party to vacation in a great location on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica!

So Sad We Had to Leave Early!
My husband and I stayed at this property in mid March. We had a week booked, but sadly have to leave three days earlier than planned due to the current situation with COVID-19. At that time our PM was calling for all Canadians to return home immediately so we decided to leave. It was truly a tough decision as we loved the house (and VIEW) so much. It is exactly as advertised however the view was so much more than I anticipated. Absolutely spectacular! We did not hear from the property manager during our time there, which was fine by us as the check-in, etc was a very smooth process and we did not have questions about anything. We had rented a car from Abode and would highly recommend them. As mentioned in other reviews, you definitely require a 4x4. I was a bit on edge for our first drive up the mountain to the house, but then felt very comfortable each time we went up and down. We normally stay in Manuel Antonio when in CR, but I am happy we decided to try something new this time. During a visit to The Whales Tail (highly recommended) we stopped at the supermarket in Uvita. It has everything you would need. We ate at the Jolly Roger, Thai restaurant, the brew pub and Mono Congo in Dominical. Would recommend all! Sadly there were a few places we weren't able to try given we left early. If the property was not already booked between Xmas and New Years this year, we would definitely consider going back. Oh well, another time for sure! Costa Rica is truly a magical place. We travel fairly frequently and my husband and I (along with our 21 year old son who was not with us this trip)_agree it is one of our favourite countries.

Excellent Experience
My wife and I enjoyed every minute of our stay in this beautiful home. The view of the ocean below and jungle all around the home are the perfect setting for a vacation. The house was extremely clean and held all the comforts that were necessary. After a long day of exploring, returning to the Casita is very relaxing and the perfect place to end your day. The property manager Adam is extremely helpful if you have any questions or should need assistance. We stayed in three different homes during our time in Costa Rica and the Nido Marina Casita was our favorite home by far!

Incredible Villa on the Mountain with Ocean views
Brought a friend to Costa Rica for the first time and stayed here to showcase the magic and beauty of the country. It was amazing to wake up to the sounds of the nature all around. Easy to get to and close to all the waterfalls and beaches! We will try to stay here again on our next visit. Gracias Adam for your warm hospitality and welcoming us to the Villa with all the instructions and information we needed.

Great place, but hard to get to.
We loved this property a lot, but it’s really hard to get to. Overall the house was awesome, the host was friendly, and the view was incredible. Make sure you rent a 4x4, and don’t attempt to get there after dark.

Amazing house with Amazing views.
My wife and I were very excited to stay at this house, and when we arrived we grew even more excited. This house is stunning and has an even more stunning view of the ocean/jungle. It was sparkling clean and had all the amenities one could think of. The host is absolutely amazing. While we were staying here, we noticed that there was no hot water. I messaged the host through Vrbo and within a few hours, he had arranged for a plumber to come and fix the water heater. He felt bad about the situation and even refunded us some money. His responsiveness and helpfulness went a long way for us. This house is also in an amazing location. It is about 35 minutes to Manuel Antonio and about 25 minutes to Uvita. It also has other beautiful beaches within minutes. I would highly recommend others to stay here.

Perfect Casita!
We had an amazing trip to Costa Rica! The house had breathtaking views and had everything we needed for beach outings and cooking. Adam was very helpful in connecting us with local activities. We loved the location and and the casita and definitely hope to come back with our kids next time.

What an amazing place!
Stayed for the 3rd time this Summer, so romantic and magical. My first time staying in the area during the “rainy season” however it wasn’t very rainy at all! Only very light rain a few hours on 3 of 6 days I stayed. We’ll definitely be back again soon! Thank you so much

I can't say anything that hasn't already been said here. What a view! What a beautiful spot to be at. Everything we needed was here. We really enjoyed our time here. We did find a view bugs that needed taken care of but I think thats what you get in the jungle. Thank you.

Casita Nido Dominicalito

Great Stay!
Beautiful home that was perfect for our small family. The listing is very accurate and you will need a 4x4. The drive up to the house was intimidating at first but quite fun after we learned the route. Once we arrived we were thoroughly impressed. The views are endless and amazing. The casita had all the conveniences of home. We enjoyed lounging by the pool and looking for wildlife with the binoculars. Plenty of restaurant options within a short drive. The area is very convenient for day trips if you want to explore. Manuel Antonio was about an hour drive. Uvita is about 20 minutes south where you can find a couple of larger grocery stores. Traveling with young children can be tough but the amenities the home provides along with the location kept our boys content during our stay. We looked at several different listings when planning our trip and we feel very lucky to have found this gem.
