We were so sad to leave this house in Dominical. It was beautifully appointed, luxuriously comfortable, and exceptionally clean! The mini-split a/c units were fabulous as well. The house is spacious and the outdoor area was PERFECT for the 4 of us to lounge in the evenings and enjoy the sounds of the river just steps from the house. We enjoyed the plunge pool more than we had anticipated; it stayed very cool and was refreshing in the evenings after a day full of activities. The house is secluded, but we never felt unsafe. The house also has a security system that added to our piece of mind. The road to get to the home is an adventure to be enjoyed all on its own as it runs along side the Baru River. I cannot forget to mention how wonderful Alejandro was to work with! He made sure we felt welcomed, gave us some great tips/tricks/advice as this was our first visit to C.R. and kept in touch with us our full stay just in case we needed anything. Can’t wait to return to Casa Tranquila!

This was the perfect place for our small group of 4 adults and two children. Everything we hoped and more

We had such a lovely stay. The house is perfect with everything you could think of to make it feel like a home away from home. The pool is great for reading, relaxing and taking in the scenery. Rob and Susan we so helpful in sending us everything we needed to know about the house and Alejandro the property manager was the best - and helped us get to the when we made a wrong turn!! He had filled the house with delicious fruits and snacks which we so appreciated after our long day of traveling. He also helped us book many trips in the area - my favorite was the horse ride at rancho la merced where we galloped along the beach - truly magical. My teenagers loved hanging out in the natural lazy river in front of the house and we enjoyed the daily sightings of the pair of toucans. Such a lovely stay (the beds were super comfy too) so relaxing and comfortable we would love to come back - thank you Susan and Rob for thinking of everything and sharing your beautiful home

Close to town and the river. Lovely home

We all loved the architecture as soon as the door swung open. It's an ideal layout for two couples, with or without kids. There are essentially two master bedrooms, each with their own privacy and sliding doors to the patio. We had two single women in our group who shared the room with single beds. The only complaint I heard was that the beds were a little short in length, perhaps intended for kids.
Everyone loved the temperature of the pool and it was used a lot as this area is very hot and humid. The kitchen lends itself to cooking as a group. The appliances are excellent and the chef in our group appreciated the gas stove.
We were thrilled to see Blue Morph butterflies on our morning walks and the river provides a soothing sound all day and night. The walk to Dominical is a bit of an adventure at night, but a headlamp or flashlight helps. The location was a perfect home base for exploring the area. The Whales Tail is a short drive away where we saw dolphins playing. Some in our group took surfing lessons in the tamer waters of Dominicalita. For foodies your options are quite vast, even for vegans and those looking for gluten free. Allessandro was accomodating and easy to reach whenever we needed him. The Welcome Basket of goodies was a nice surprise. Despite some noise from the highway, we really felt tucked away in paradise. We discovered a volunteer run recycling depot close by. Dropping off your bottles/plastics there just seems right in such a precious place.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at Rob and Sue's beautiful vacation home. Alejandro was super helpful throughout our stay with recommendations on which places to visit. Great location!

Amazing Vila, great location, near a beautiful beach and all amenities.

This modern house was A+++. The home was super comfortable and had all of the modern amenities. We liked relaxing in the pool ad seeing Toucan's and Macaw's in the trees next to us. Just a short drive or a nice walk to town which we did often in the morning. Alejandro, the property manager, was absolutely an amazing resource! He made it a point to go above and beyond to answer any questions and provide inspiration for outings.
We absolutely would stay here again and recommend it to anyone!

A piece of luxury in the heart in the Costarican pacific coast. Rob and Susan have an amazing spacious place on the river in Dominical. First impressions are everything and this property really impressed us when we arrived. Private drive up to the house with beautiful plants and flowers to great you. When we walked into the home, it was spacious open floor concept of kitchen and living area. But the large sliding doors to the back yard quickly draws you in. The amazing outdoor space with table, lounge chairs and the pool. Oh and you cannot overlook the view of the river and the sound of the birds in the trees. So relaxing. The bedrooms are spacious and very comfortable. The master bath has everything thing you need and has a nice luxury feel to it.
The location is great with about 45 minute walk and 20 minute drive into town. The road is not paved and since we came during the start of the rainy season we elected to rent a 4x4 capable vehicle which we definitely needed due to it raining in the evenings.
We welcomed by Alejandro who helps manage the house and were greeted with local fruit, wine, beer and a big smile. He kept in touch with us all through the trip which was great. If you needed recommendations, he had them. Also, there was a nice man who lived a couple doors down who watched the house as local security.
If you are looking for a central location to see the southern pacific region, luxury living, great food, and amazing people, this is the place to stay!

We had an amazing time staying at Casa Tranquila - it was really perfect for us in every way. We loved the location - on the river and away from the bustle of town, but close enough to easily go out for dinner, to the beaches, and to the shops. Note: we did rent a 4x4, which seems pretty essential, as the road to the house is unpaved, bumpy, and includes a creek crossing. The house was very comfortable, clean, and uncluttered. The pool was lovely and refreshing. Air conditioning and wifi worked smoothly. Comfy beds! The bird watching from the house was great - ibises, toucans, tiger herons, and much more! Susan and Rob reached out once we'd booked our stay and again while we were there and were helpful in giving us tips on activities in the area. Alejandro was also helpful and easy to communicate with - he met us at check-in and showed us around and booked us a tour at Manuel Antonio NP. We were welcomed to the house with a beautiful array of fruits, coffee, wine, and beer. We appreciated the use of the garage, the pool floats, and beach chairs. Clearly, I could go on and on. We had a wonderful stay - thank you!

This house was a great pick for our family of 4. The location is very peaceful and just perfect for those into nature. The home itself is beautiful and new as described.
We spent mornings watching birds and drinking coffee on the deck. The Toucans nesting behind the neighboring home were wonderful to watch as they would come every couple of hours to feed their young.
We loved the restaurants and beach in Dominical. Our kids enjoyed seeing monkeys at La Parcela restaurant in Dominicalito just down the road from Dominical.
Alejandro greeted us upon our late arrival and was very very helpful answering questions and making recommendations. The caretaker Rodulfo is very friendly and ready to help out if you speak a little Spanish. He showed us the tree cavity where the toucans were nesting.
We went for excursions to Manuel Antonio National Park and horseback to Nauyaca falls as recommended by Alejandro. Both were excellent.
If you choose this place, you will not regret it.

We just returned home (sadly) from our week long vacation at Casa Tranquila! We had 4 adults and 2 children and this house was perfect for our stay. We absolutely loved the location. It's quiet and tucked away but yet close to town to grab dinner or drinks. The house itself is brand new and so beautiful and has everything you will need. It's also the perfect jumping point for all of the various activities in the area. We visited Uvita, the Nauyaca waterfalls, the Hacienda Baru and much more. The house manager Alejandro greeted us upon our arrival and was very nice and super helpful and responsive with any questions we had or recommendations for things to do in the area. We loved waking up to the sounds of the birds and watching them from the beautiful pool deck while sipping coffee in the mornings. My husband and son loved fishing and exploring down by the river during some of our down time. The pool felt especially amazing after a long day of hiking and exploring! We saw Toucans, and so many birds, river otters and morpho butterflies. Do not hesitate to stay here...I promise you will not regret it! We can't wait to return in the future!

This was an incredible authentic experience in Dominical, Costa Rica. The location is remote and private yet close to all of the sites and experiences of the region. The owners of this home thought about all of the comforts and yet it is elegantly simple - all the necessities with a clean and efficient feel. Not only are all of the rooms optimally equipped and furnished, but very comfortable king size beds (one room with twins). The alarm system provides a sense of security as the location is down a long dirt/stone road. It is perfect for communing with nature and particularly birds! We lived on the outside deck with serenading birds and cooling dips in the plunge pool. The sounds and sites of the river offers a unique experience - preferrable over the congested ocean/beach front territories. We enjoyed getting away from the crowds with the ability to go out and find it if we want. The owners are super and enlist the professionalism of a very responsive and helpful onsite manager, Alejandro. I have never received a personalized welcome like we had here. We would certainly love to return. Thank you for a memorable and relaxing experience in Dominical!

This is our 7th trip to Costa Rica, needless to say we love it. This trip was for our 10-year anniversary so had our fingers crossed the listing was accurate.
It was epic! The listing didn't do the property its proper justice. The home was perfect, brand new construction. Even though it was just my husband and myself, there was another large room with a king sized bed, and a 3rd room with two single beds. There is AC in each room, all independent of each other which is nice. We only used the AC in the livingroom/kitchen and master bedroom to help save energy.
You have everything you need at your fingertips. Fully stocked kitchen with all the dishes you could need. There was a cabinet with spices and tons of storage.
The outdoor space was our morning getaway. My husband normally had coffee going before I was up, and I would find him on the patio working on his laptop at the table, overlooking the pool. My favorite was to use one of the floaties and lounge in the pool with a cup of coffee. Perfect way to stay cool and enjoy the toucans that love the banana's right by the pool.
The hosts were amazing, and always quick to get back to us.
We loved it so much I tried to extend our stay, but they only had one more night available, after that new guests checking in. We took it! One more night on the river watching the birds.
We will definitely be back, as this inspired us to look for property in the area.
Cheers, and enjoy this beautiful home and property.

We rented this home mainly for the location: just over a mile walk to a very chill beach town. Plus the house was on a river (we always love being on water). Plus it had a pool. Plus it was near the end of a road so it was very quiet. Plus it had an amazing deck and view. Plus it's a very new build. Plus there were toucans that visited the banana tree everyday . . . So many pluses, this home exceeded our expectations. The owners were helpful and communicative via email and the property manager, Alejandro, was an amazing host. We reached out to him a couple times during our visit and he was immediately responsive and had some great local recommendations for us. We couldn't recommend this property more. We will definitely be returning soon!

This newly built, upscale, very private property provides everything you need to comfortably kick back, unplug & just breathe. Hosts Susan & Rob were extremely responsive, informative & helpful, both prior to & during our stay. As was our attentive concierge, Alejandro, who had fresh fruit, coffee & snacks stocked for our arrival & made planning activities a breeze — from ziplining & trekking the national parks to choosing the best restaurants. Hanging out in the pool & having cocktails on the deck while listening to the River Barú & watching all the wildlife is amazing. Toucans, Coati, Blue Morphos, Macaws & more frequently visited! Laid back, surfer-town Dominical & the beach are an easy walk or short drive down a typical CR jungle road. So fun! Plenty to keep you busy—if you are so inclined. ¡Pura vida!

We thoroughly enjoyed our ten day stay at this house on the Baru River near Dominical. It is brand new, sparkling clean, very comfortable, quiet and relaxing - simply perfect. I cooked almost all of our meals at the house - the kitchen is well-stocked and the appliances (including the outdoor grill) work great. The back patio is lovely - we spent most of our time outside enjoying the view and sound of the river and the pool. Amazingly, there weren't any mosquitos. The owners, Rob and Susan, are very helpful - they provided us with lots of information in advance and answered all of our questions. They work with a local property manager, Alejandro, who is very friendly, helpful and responsive. This is a great place to stay while you are in the Dominical area.

We wish could give more than 5 stars for our stay! This was our first trip to Costa Rica and we had a lot of questions before arriving. Susan and Rob were patient and helpful, making sure we knew exactly what to bring and gave us a bunch of recommendations (with tips you’d only know if you were local) as we planned for our stay. We enjoyed time by the pool, listening to the river and bird watching (we even saw a toucan!) off their expansive deck that was perfect for lounging/yoga/patio dinners. They had a Bluetooth sound system that ran throughout the house and onto the deck, which we loved. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed and having laundry on site was a plus! The river behind the house is beautiful and you are able to walk down to it - when it rains it seems to run pretty fast, but when we went down we were able to walk in comfortably up to our waste. We ran on the road to town a couple of times (which runs right along the river) to grab coffee (our favorite was Fuego/Coffee Mono Congo) lunch (had the best sushi at Sushi Dominican) and to get to the Dominical Beach and enjoy the local market that happens every Friday. It was a quick drive to waterfall hikes, national parks, and gorgeous beaches! Alejandro was also so helpful during our stay. He heard that we wanted to go whale watching and gave us personal recommendations on the best place to go in town and walked us through booking our trip.
When we were at Casa Tranquila, it felt like we were the only ones in town. The property is private and peaceful, the only sounds coming from the river and the birds (and occasional monkeys) - but with a short drive/walk to town, you were able to enjoy restaurants, shops, bars, and beaches filled with locals and visitors.
We couldn’t recommend Casa Tranquila more and can’t wait to come back as soon as possible!! Thank you Susan and Rob!
