Quiet place away from the sounds of trains tooting their horns, a ten minute drive to Alma and very close to the Mississippi River. We liked the comfortable space, full kitchen and nice little outside area to hang out at, a barbequer next to our little cabin, plus a few in the outdoor area available to use.
The manager answered his phone every time I called with questions and offered the use of towels that were not in the cabin but close by in a shed.
Uneven floors, one bedroom had a bed that took up much of the space and I had to crawl onto the bed to get in because it was so cramped. The fitted sheet was too small for the mattress and it came off two nights in a row.
The second bedroom had two twin beds and our adult son said he didn't sleep well and the bed was not that comfortable.
The flooring was uneven in cabin 3 and the shower was small with a shower head that is perfect for a tall person, but for a 5'3" person it sprayed way above my head. The plus side of it was that the water was super hot and the sprayer had a few different spray options.
The cabin had a stuffy smell at first, but when we opened a window and kept fans going it made a huge difference.
The cost to rent the cabin was more than it should have been for the quality ($673 for 3 nights) and another lodge with cabins a short distance from there was quite a bit cheaper, though I didn't know about that place until we were already there. For October I would think the cost would be more reasonable, especially since on our trip from Montana to Wisconsin I found several hotels very reasonably priced from $90-115 per night, so these little cabins should not be costing twice the price of a hotel room in the middle of October in my opinion. We did appreciate not being in an area where trains toot their horns at all hours of the day and night, so that was a definite plus.

Very clean area in front of cabins, where the firepits and chairs are. Nice area to sit outside.
Bedding was a little like thriftsale stuff.

Beautiful, scenic, perfect location! We stayed in the RV, which was roomy and had all the comforts of home....even 2 TVs! Walking distance to a great bar/restaurant which had excellent food.

Easy to find. Ample room for what we needed it for-a Mother/Daughter get away!
Suggestions
1. With "see thru" curtains in the living/dining area, it was like being in a fishbowl after dark! Either thicker curtains or shades on the windows would be a great addition.
2. We used the oven during our stay but found no potholders when it was time to take our food out of the oven! If thats an item that people need to bring, they should be made aware of that.
3. A checkout time of 11AM would be a lot nicer, especially when checkin time is 4 or later. Especially when dishes need to be done, beds need to be stripped and garbage needs to be collected and taken out. The morning goes in a hurry!
4. A chain lock added to the door would add a lot more security as anyone with a key would be able to come right in and your guests have no idea who has keys to the doors.

A little pricy … but we enjoyed it

The bar had good food and cheap beer. Free Sticker.
No staff, no amenities, no soap, no towels. Basically nothing you'd expected to have at any stay anywhere in America. A terrible option for people just passing through that don't have the luxury of bringing their own towels for showers (as a basic example).
Water pressure, terrible. Shower door didn't stay closed. Fan in main space didn't work. TV from 1975.
Terribly expensive for what this is.

It was a separate unit so it was completely quiet.
Narrow stairs. It was tough getting up them with my full sized suitcase. No towels were provided and nothing on the booking.com site mentioned you need to bring your own.

A great location on the Mississippi. Very nice, quiet neighborhood. Lovely spot to relax. They allowed our two well-behaved dogs which was wonderful!
We were told there were cabins available. The website pictured cute little cabins with screen porches snuggled around a central gathering space with the river in the background. We booked a cabin. Our confirmation said something about a class A RV. I called, left a voice mail and no one called back. I emailed and no one emailed back. We did not understand what the confirmation meant. When we got here we were in a big camper bus with push outs, located behind a garage, near the dumpsters. It was clean and comfortable, but NOT what we expected. No mention of the possibility of being in a camper without a river view on the website. An RV tucked in the backyard was not the cabins that were pictured. If the website told us that we'd have an RV if the cabins were booked and then informed us of that as we booked our accommodation, it would have been different.

Nice location next to the river, lovely cabins, common BBQ area, quiet place
No salt, pepper, coffee, cooking oil, towels and kitchen towels. Poor wifi, too much light in the morning waking us up at 5.40am

The owner was very nice and attentive and was present on site every day. The cabins were very welcoming, quite clean and very close to the river (great for the fishermen in the bunch).
The mattresses were very soft (too soft for us) and the ceiling fan was a bit loud.

It was clean, well kept up and would be a nice place for large family gathering with the well equipped gathering area.
If spending more time in the cabin, it could use a comfortable upholstered chair. Not much room in the bedroom to get into bed.

The futon isn't very comfortable at all
Staff is on site and available. We were there mid-October and couldn't get any heat. The manager stopped by within minutes.

Greg and Tara were great hosts. Greg was on site each day (including the 4th of July holiday!) and addressed any questions and concerns immediately. The common area was very nice and the location was right along the river as advertised. Beautiful sunsets and easy to walk around town. Everyone was very friendly and Buffalo City really had a hometown type feel to it. We felt very welcomed by everyone! Each unit had its own propane grill and a large covered picnic table was handy when the weather was less than perfect. VERY dog friendly!
The mattress was a bit worn (sagged in the middle) but wasn't horrible. Probably not as firm as what we are used to at home. Not much as far as shops, restaurants, etc. in the area (you could walk to one pub on the river but nothing else in the area) so make sure you bring your supplies or plan to drive 20 minutes or so to the nearest large town. The well water was not the best, but they make a point of letting you know that before you arrive, so plan on bringing your own bottled water if you aren't used to well water. Otherwise, all things were very minor and what you would expect from a cabin in a nice, secluded area!

Very clean, beautiful location. enjoyed the quiet, very relaxing. Just what we were looking for.
Was very hot outside during our stay, there was air conditioning but really didn't cool the bedroom.

What breakfast? Location was nice.
Parking was at a minimum.

Everything but the bed. I would definitely stay here again.
The bed could be better as I have back issues and the toaster doesn't work but other than that everything was great.
