About this house rental
Welcome to Millards Rest!
**If you are in need of additional bedrooms or just more space to spread out with your group, inquire about adding our 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom first floor unit to your rental**
This recently remodeled circa 1860 home was the childhood residence of Millard E. Tydings - famed former Maryland Senator. While retaining much of the original woodwork, architecture, and style, contemporary conveniences make this home a comfortable retreat for guests of all ages and parties of all sizes.
Occupying the 2nd and 3rd floors above my part-time home office space* on the main thoroughfare of downtown Havre de Grace, this home is ideally suited for short-term and extended stay business travelers, wedding party guests, and with the proximity to Ripken Stadium and Cedar Lane Sports Complex, an ideal accommodation choice for traveling youth sports families.
Enjoy a morning coffee or an evening libation on the front porch, or venture out to a great selection of fantastic restaurants, wine bars, and coffee shops all within a few blocks of Millard’s Rest.
Feeling a little more adventurous? Rent a boat, kayak, or paddle board from one of the many marinas or go back in time with a Susquehanna River Cruise aboard the Skipjack Martha Lewis - one of the last remaining restored skipjacks from the Chesapeake bay oyster fleet.
* Home office access (left side door) has an active video doorbell
**NEW FOR SUMMER 2021** Guests now have access to our fenced back yard and patio space featuring a propane grill, portable cooler, and outdoor dining set. Access to the back yard is through the side gate.

First and foremost, the host was exceptionally responsive. We had quite a few questions for Nick during our stay and he quickly responded (even though he was on vacation himself!). The house was very clean and tidy. The homeowners did a great job of keeping the charm while upgrading the home. My parents spent a ton of time reading on the front porch. We loved the unique downtown stores (especially the one with movie costumes) and the ice cream shop! We were there for a baseball tournament and were gone quite a bit but when we had time, we spent most of our time walking and exploring.
Thank you for allowing us to rent your home!

We absolutely loved staying in this quaint historical home. We were only there at night and mornings, however it was perfect for all our needs, as we were there for a family reunion. We will be back!

could not get the stove to work. we left a day early before i read the many things you must do before leaving. i did not get all of them done. Nick was great answering me but I didn't want to bug him about the stove.

We had a wonderful time in Havre de Grace. Nick’s house was very clean with well stocked kitchen. The house is in a great location, within walking distance to restaurants and the harbor. The neighborhood is quiet. We enjoyed the comfortable front porch and rear, private yard.

Great place when visiting Havre de Grace. Comfortably slept our family of 6. Older home, but clean and well maintained with all the amenities. The location is conveniently located near the historic/downtown area and is very walkable. Would stay again for sure.

This home, with the additional space included, was perfect for our group. Everyone had their own bedroom and the common space suited our needs (half tv, half games) in the evenings.

Myself and 5 girlfriends embarked on our journey to Havre de Grace on a Friday night in March. A short drive from New Jersey, we arrived right before the rain. We were so thrilled with our location and all of the ammenities of our home for 3 nights. It is PERFECT.
Everything is there for you, I mean everything, even shampoo. All spots of interest are in walking distance. We went to MacGregors, Tide Water, Havre de Grace Promenade, Bombays Ice Cream and Candy, Coakleys, the Cajun Bar across the street, West Street Seafood, and saw Eaglemania at the Starre Center. Theresa, the owner of West Street, gave me a keepsake shell ornamanet. It was so special. I had clams and chorizo and it was AMAZING. It was a trip that I will never forget. Thank you for sharing your home with us for my 60th birthday.

This is a lovely home that fit our needs. It was a block away from the venue for our son’s event.
We would recommend it highly.
I would suggest that you add drapes like the ones in the front bedroom to the remainder of your bedroom windows. The shades in the bedrooms are “see-through” at night. We were changing in closets & bathrooms for privacy.
We enjoyed our visit to Havre De Grace very much.

We came for a Cal Ripken baseball tournament. The house was a perfect fit for us. It’s old character with modern touches and cleanliness made it a great location and stay. Lots of walkable food and shops and easy travel to the fields. The amenities were great and I would stay here again if we come back to the area. I highly recommend this house.

This home was a perfect place for my friends and family to stay after my sister got engaged downtown. Not only is this home within walking distance of the entire town, it was beautiful and contained a surprising amount of local history. Nick was prompt with communication and flexible with a last minute change to our booking. I would definitely recommend this home to anyone looking to experience Havre de Grace.

Very nice place. A lot of history if you take the time to look into it. Close to several restaurants stores and activities to do within walking distance. Had some pretty hard rain storms and had some water leaking out of ductwork and ceiling but I don’t feel this is something that happens all the time and should not be held against the property. Very nice place updated and accommodating

we had 6 high school friends all age 60 stay - it was wonderful; the town is cute and very walkable and friendly. Nick was easy to communicate with (even with silly questions!). We had a fantastic time!!!

We stayed 2 nights in this beautiful historic home and were very pleased. The owner was responsive and helpful and the property was even lovelier in person than in the photos. We were walking distance from restaurants and a large park, and a short drive from the Ripken baseball fields in Aberdeen where our son participated in a camp. The only surprise was that the very nice backyard of this home- which we did make use of- has no access to the rental unit except via the front door. This means there is no easy access to the kitchen, which is on the second floor. It was ultimately no real problem, particularly since it was truly a bonus to have the backyard and use of the grill. Simply a surprise worth noting for future families who will want to stay and use the yard.
We hope to stay again the next time we are in the area as the experience was a great one!

I rented the home during my nieces wedding weekend. The home shows great online, but I was concerned how it'd compare on person. It did not fail to impress. There was plenty of room for 3 generations. The host thought of everything from baby gate to instapot. We would definitely stay again.

Excellent home for family reunion.
Nick is excellent host. Home is beautifully renovated and immaculately clean. Very cozy . Walking distance to downtown shops/restaurants as well as beautiful downtown waterfront park. Rooms felt spacious and somewhat larger than they appear online . Quaint backyard dining space was lovely for family dinners. Note that though there is large stovetop, toaster oven and toaster, there is no oven. (We brought lasagne to bake and as my brother is local we used his oven). Loved our stay. Thank you, Nick.

Super small town charm. Home is very special. You can tell the owner cares about every detail. Lovely front porch. Nicely decorated. Right down to the flowers! HDG is a wonderful walking town. Lots of little shops and friendly people. I remember the bakery from 40 years ago. It has not changed. Would have loved to stay…,,forever!
