This was the second time my family and I stayed in Jonesport at Cornelia 's property - if possible, the cottage only got better! We absolutely love the peaceful location with stunning views, the comfortable cottage stocked with everything you could need or want and the centrality of Jonesport to so many enjoyable destinations without the crowds or price hikes of other areas. We so appreciate the thoughtful touches at the cottage like children's books and adult books with themes of the sea and lobster villages (we've learned a lot staying and reading!), your well equipped kitchen and the toys including toys and games that are locally made and sourced. Staying at this cottage is one of the few vacation spots where our family truly rests, leaves refreshed and is sad to leave! Till the next time!!!

We had a very peaceful and relaxed stay. The amenities were superb. The only quibble is that the mattress in the master-bedroom needs replacing.

Very relaxing, quaint, clean, quiet getaway. We loved the area, the cottage was perfect and the host responded to our questions promptly. Lots of small touches to make you feel at home. Would recommend to anyone.

This was the second time we stayed at this property. It is a delightful cottage that sits at the head of a cove; we never tired of watching the action in the harbor.
The cottage itself is well appointed and had everything we needed! We wanted for nothing ! The host had supplied the house with everything ( laundry detergent! Drinking water! ), down to the tiniest details ( books ! Playing cards!), that we might need.
We loved our stay , and hope to return next year !

This was our 2nd year staying here and it is such a comfortable, clean, well thought-out space to call our home away from home for a week. The house is the perfect amount of space, very functional, and has everything we could need. We enjoyed a few gorgeous sunsets from the deck and enjoyed watching the eagles, ducks, deer, and porcupines that we saw in the yard during the week.

This cottage is so charming. It is clean, bright, and tastefully decorated. Light streams in the many windows giving an airy feel. An eagle was seen at the top of an evergreen tree across the glistening water of the cove at dusk one evening. A hummingbird was fluttering around the wild rose bush behind the house at times. We enjoyed many beautiful day trips from this property, and loved coming back “home” to the cottage in the evenings for a peaceful sleep.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Jonesport! If anything, we thought that this cottage looked better in person than in the photos online. It was immaculately clean, nicely decorated, and stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The cottage overlooks a small cove on the outer edge of the working waterfront, so there is little boat traffic and is much quieter than we anticipated. There was a lot of bird activity in the yard; we saw and photographed quite a few different species! The mosquitoes seemed to ignore us when we were on the deck, but the minute we stepped foot into the yard, all bets were off; bring your choice of bug repellent! From this home base, we made trips to hike/walk on Beals Island, Great Wass Island, and at Roque Bluffs State Park, all of which were gorgeous. We took a day trip to Quoddy Head State Park, where we hiked along the shoreline and marveled at the stunning views, then spent some time in Lubec’s quaint downtown. The only dining options in Jonesport are two or three pizza/takeout/diner-type places, so if you want something different, plan to cook or drive further afield. Also, the well water in the cottage did have a fairly strong sulfurous smell as others have noted, so we just drank bottled water while there. All told, our family of four (two adults and two teenagers) had a lovely time and would highly recommend this spot to others.

We stayed for ten days. What a wonderful time! The deck was right off the bedroom and the living room. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need.
We have stayed everywhere in northern Maine and this will always be special. R&S

We had one sunny day the rest were cloudy/rainy but we had lots of reading material in the cottage and we traveled the half hour to Machias. You can’t miss Columbia Falls pottery shop and Bold coast coffee made in Machias and purchased at The Crow’s Nest a gift and flower shop. It was a relaxingn stay.

This was by far the cleanest, most well equipped and organized house I have ever rented. The house itself it beautiful and we enjoyed looking at all the different artwork through out. The location cannot be beat… Woke up to a Bald Eagle in a tree across the cove and two seals playing right out back. The location allowed us to explore from Campobello Island down to Hancock easily and at the end of the long day we had a comfortable place to return to. The sunsets from the back deck or windows did not disappoint either. The kitchen was well stocked with anything we could have needed. Really cannot say enough good things about our stay.

We were so relaxed at the cottage. So easy to find, incredibly peaceful setting. The cottage is very well laid out. Of all the VRBO places we have stayed, my hubby and I felt that this was one we could actually live in comfortably. What a kitchen. 13 drawers. I do not not have that many in my own kitchen and my kitchen is very large. The designer of this cottage utilized every inch of the space to it's advantage. The views were stunning, even when there was fog and rain. Centrally located to so many lovely spots to visit. Be prepared that places shut down early. There is no late evening snack runs. The water pressure for the shower could be better, but it worked fine for us. Be sure to read the book left by the owner on the history of the cottage and instructions. We hope to come again very soon. Be sure to bring mosquito coils, citronella candles and deep woods off. Love, love, love this spot. Thank you, Cornelia for sharing your lovely place with us.
Sincerely,
Karin and Lee Pike

Property was exceptionally clean and organized with ample guiding notes from the owner (Nina). Beautiful private location with sights and sounds of a working harbor in the background and natural areas up close (mixed forest, tidal mud flats). Abundant bird life including Bald Eagles , Great Blue Herons, various shore birds and Wood Warblers. The location is a great base to use while exploring the many natural areas and outdoor activities the Bold Coast of Down East Maine offers. The only detracting feature of the property is the well water supply which has a brackish odor. We used bottled water for drinking, ice and cooking and used the well water for washing only. This was easy to manage for us and would not stop us from renting the property again (which we would).

We arrived to find a spotless, up to date "home for a week". Great deck and view of harbor. Very private and quiet. All small appliances that you would need. Washer/ Dryer! Tasteful decor! We saw lots of birds and a rabbit. Hope to rent again

Killer views!
Nina's property in Jonesport was the perfect place to spend our first family vacation! Her photos on VRBO don't do the lovely property justice - it's open, spacious, bright, cheery and with a killer view.
Things we loved:
- Master bedroom with three huge windows and sliding glass doors to let in all those bay breezes
- Washer and dryer in the en suite bathroom downstairs
- Multiple rooms upstairs with a door to enclose the upstairs (perfect for our two year old to take naps - she slept better in Jonesport than she does at home!)
- Delightful decorations and appointments (books, magazines, DVDs, kids toys, well stocked kitchen)
- Sandy River Beach, a quick drive away. Hardly ever full or people, great spot to find shells or rocks.
- Bad Little Brewing in Machias (homemade food and house brewed beer)
- Floatsum & Jetsum, the local artisan shop in Jonesport
Things you should know before you go:
- The well water wasn't a huge issue for us (as mentioned in previous reviews). We used it to bathe, to wash our clothes and dishes and boil food. We got several jugs of water for drinking and making coffee at the local supermarket.
- Nina is an amazing host, thoughtful, generous and prepared. She'll make you feel at home!
- You won't want to leave.

Cozy home with amazing views
We enjoyed our stay here! The house was cozy and very clean. The kitchen was well equipped. It is centrally located to do a lot of exploring - whether to Machias or Winter Harbor. Lots of good hiking within 30 minutes. The road in front of the house leads down to a little cove and is a nice walk as well. One day we had rain and fog, and were happy that we had such a nice place to stay - just to read, and work puzzles. A great get away!

Great location!
We were pleasantly surprised upon arriving. The cottage was larger than the pictures portray and it is a very private setting. We enjoyed seeing deer in the yard and watching a bald eagle perched nearby. The deck is relaxing and has a nice view of the water. We appreciated having access to a kayak but it can only be used during high tide unless you're comfortable mucking thru the mud flats at lower tides. Overall, we enjoyed our stay (it was mainly used as a base for day exploring the area between Lubec and Gouldsboro) but be forewarned that there is a VERY strong odor of sulfur when using water that lingers. We were not comfortable using the water for drinking or cooking - you should definitely consider buying water before you arrive and it would have been helpful if we knew this in advance.

The Maine Gift
Many gifts in every corner of the Cottage on Sawyer's Cove. The cottage welcomes the morning and evening sunlight. Beautiful sunsets and early light in the summer morning both displaying the culture and charm of fishing boats on this small cove. Inside the cottage the hospitality of a well-equipped kitchen and coziness of the living/dining area made this space comfortable.
I have great appreciation that the cottage is completely handicapped accessible, the ramp into the cottage, the downstairs bathroom spacious for a wheel chair to turn around and around, the sink and the shower, the spacious downstairs bedroom. This is a gift to anyone with a family member who needs these accommodations and cannot find them in such a beautiful setting and cottage.
We were able to tour five different places in 3 different directions never having to drive more than an hour and a half.
Nina, the owner, is a splendid host. Whenever I had a question and emailed her, I received a prompt reply.
The Maine Gift, gift for the warmth of this cottage, gift for the beauty of the Maine coast and the forests, gift for the grace of Nina. We are thankful.

A Sweet Downeast Respite, Quiet and Charming
Situated on a lovely cove, with a very short walk to another, this sweet home looks out over a cove adjacent to a working harbor. The house itself has plenty of light, windows facing south west and the sunset. Each evening two wild blue herons came to fish, and the more I settled into the downeast rhythms, I realized the birds' had their own routines. Bald eagles occasionally soared overhead, a doe and her fawn nibbled on rose hips in the morning, and went down to the water every night. The house has a master bedroom, where the full bath is located, and also where the TV is located. The living room has a nice table to dine in front of the windows, and the deck has a lovely awning that came in handy on hot afternoons. The kitchen is large and open and the house is handicapped accessible. Two smallish bedrooms are upstairs. Everything was clean and fresh and newish. The location is close enough to walk to Jonesport (I biked) and a great hopping off point for exploring more northerly points, like Perry and Eastport, and southerly locations like Winter Harbor and Gouldsboro. The area had a lot of preserves with great hiking, though having lost trails a couple of times, I'd look for trail maps before you go to some of the lesser known ones. Nina, the owner, was incredibly responsive and welcoming. The people of Jonesport, and the whole area in general, were very friendly. I fell in love with the place and the area, and felt so grateful for making the choice to stay here. The wifi wasn't the strongest or fastest, but it worked (we had to attend a couple of zoom meetings and it was fine). Oh, and there was a kayak that I used to explore the cove--with a life jacket. It's still Maine water! Beautiful. I highly recommend. And again, Nina was lovely.

Quintessential Maine
Lovely decorated and exceptionally cared-for cottage at marvelous location. Our family of six (four kids aged 2 - 11) had fabulous vacation. Many hiking opportunities in the area, kayaking on the cove (cottage is directly at the cove but with enough distance from the water to be comfortable with the toddler). Quiet location, great views.
