As a family of 8 it was a great place to stay for a week. We didn't know at the time that it was a working lobster business in front of us and what a time the kids had watching and learning what lobstering was all about. The home was just "homey" and so comfortable...the windows looking out at the ocean and the deck with all the windows was fantastic.....we loved every minute of it and wish we'd been able to thank Charlie and Sandy in person before we left. All in all it was fantastic and something we'll remember for a long time.

We totally enjoyed our stay here. Charles and Sandy are very friendly and helped us in anyway they can to make our vacation pleasant. We had fresh lobsters off Charles’s dock everyday. Best lobsters we ever had. Jonesport is a quiet and cozy fishing town. Plenty hiking, etc close by. We will definitely come back!

The house was spacious with a great view, comfortable and well equipped. The owners responded quickly to any inquiry and I really enjoyed talking to Charlie. We had great weather and played golf 3 times, visited Bar Harbor and Cadillac Mountain, Eastport, and Campobello And of course we has lobster, crabs, clams, and haddock. Definitely would stay here again.

Charles and Sandy were such wonderful hosts! Charlie so kindly took the time to take us out on his boat and share with us his expert knowledge of the town, the area, and lobsterfishing. Sandy took so much care in making sure the house was perfectly clean before we arrived. The house was spacious yet cozy, and we loved walking out onto the dock for extra beautiful views of the ocean. The two lobsters per guest were the highlight of our trip, and so so delicious! We love to cook, so we especially appreciated how well stocked the kitchen was with cooking and baking essentials. It was easy to make dinner for our 8-person group, and we even baked a cake! We're so grateful that this Vrbo helped us discover such a beautiful part of Maine. Jonesport is not touristy, and we were excited to experience life in a small coastal town for a few days (although the grocery store is open 7 days a week!). Other highlights of our trip were a hike on Beals Island (which was just as beautiful and much less crowded than Acadia), a visit to the Sardine Museum, and a truly sandy beach only a 10 minute drive away. Thank you so much, Charlie and Sandy for welcoming us into this home!

This is the third year in a row we have stayed at Charlie and Sandy's house. We obviously love it here. The house is huge. The location right on the waterfront is wonderful. Charlie and Sandy are the salt of the earth. We are already planning to come back next year.

We enjoyed our stay at Jonesport. Though we got all foggy and no sunshine during our stay, we had a great time. The location is so peaceful, give us tranquility feeling by the water. Charlie took us in boat trips, showed us how to catch lobsters and watched the seals. Him and his crew Dave and Cameron are amazing. They were very nice, friendly, and patient with all of us especially our little one. We had great lobsters as promised and they were soooo good!!! The house is ok, its all very well stocked up though it could use some updates. All communication before and during the stay was amazing. Sandy and Charlie are truly amazing people and treated us like family. You felt so welcome and any questions you have, they were very accommodating and helpful. Jonesport is a place where you want to relax and enjoy your time. Had chance to get fresh mussels and watched the production from Moosabec Mussel. Ralph was amazing.
Jonesport is tight community and people were amazing.

We arrived later than expected and the owners made sure the lights were on and things were ready for us. They maintained communication with us, took us out on the lobster boat, and showed us how to cook the lobster. Any questions we had they immediately answered. Would totally recommend!! My children loved the area too!!

Thank you very much to Charlie and Sandy, the house was perfect. It provided enough room for all 6 of us.
The view was amazing, we enjoyed the fire pit. Getting to watch the sunsets was so relaxing.
Charlie was a great host, checking in with us, making sure we had everything we needed. So friendly and kind, the true heart of Jonesport . I will be using his rentals again for upcoming visits for sure. And highly recommend staying here

We had an incredible time staying at this house in Jonesport, Maine. Charlie and Sandy are incredible hosts. The house takes advantage of the beautiful bay views. The new fire pit at waters edge is a great place to spend time watching the boats, birds and clouds. The house is well equipped with anything you need in the kitchen and has a beautiful deck where you can eat and hang out. If there is rain or cold weather, you can enjoy the views from the living room and Charlie’s built in bar. The lobsters were amazing and there were also delicious crabs! As awesome as the house is, the highlight of our trip was meeting Charlie and going on an excursion on his lobster boat to a beautiful beach that can only be accessed by boat and having seafood cookout on the boat. We also really enjoyed the beautiful areas to hike nearby and the quiet beaches. We prefer less crowded, quiet places to vacation and this was exactly that! We will return! We would give it 10 stars if we could.

This is our second visit with Sandy and Charlie. We again stayed 7 days. The house is a great old family home in which you can feel the love and see the crayon marks. It is even better than the photos. We had a family group of five adults. There was plenty of room. The house is clean, the beds are comfortable, the kitchen is well appointed, the WiFi is fast and reliable, and there is a TV in every room. There are two convenience stores around the corner and a Hannaford's in Machias, about a half-hour away. The temperature in August was 77. The sunsets are just awesome. Every night we ran outside with our cameras to capture the moment.
We ate lobsters almost every day. We had the lobster feast that came with the rental, then we made lobster rolls out of the leftovers, then we bought some lobsters wholesale from Charlie's son's catch, and finally, Charlie took us out on the lobster boat, pulled a couple of traps, and cooked the lobsters onboard. We are looking forward to visiting Charlie and Sandy next year.

Charlie and Sandy were great communicators throughout the whole process. The pictures of the property and location were very accurate. We hope to rent from them again in the near future!

My family -- all from Maine -- now live in different areas of the country and were looking for a house on the coast to come together and spend some time during the summer. Charlie and Sandy's was the perfect place! The house is spacious and cozy. We spent a lot of time outside on the deck with beautiful views of the ocean. All of us slept comfortably. Charlie and Sandy were great communicators and the check-in process was seamless. Best of all, as other reviews have mentioned, was heading out with Charlie on one of the lobster boats -- an d of course, the lobster we cooked later that tonight.
Truly can't say enough good things about this experience, and we're looking forward to returning next year!

The house is in a perfect location in a quaint little fishing town to explore many areas of Maine. Hiking on Beals Island is beautiful! The lobster cooking experience was a absolutely delicious and so much fun! The house has everything you need with a grocery store just up the road. Our host Charles Smith was very gracious and a great person to spend the afternoon with on his fishing boat. Thank you for sharing your home Charles, Sandy, Hannah, Charlie Jr!

Great bay rental
Charlie and Sandy were delightful hosts! They kept in contact with us, seeing if we needed anything. Charlie even took us on the boat to see the lobsters being taken in from the traps. We had lots of space and most everything someone could want or need! Great place! Great people!

Jonesport vacation
We enjoyed our stay at this property. Charles was an excellent host. He went out of his way to make us comfortable. He treated us to lobsters and a very interesting boating trip to show how lobsters are caught in the bay.
The property was adequate for our group of 10 people. The house is little old but well kept. Kitchen was well stocked with utensils and appliances. The location is peaceful, away from the bustle of crowded cities. We had amazing view of evening sunset from the wharf. overall we had a comfortable and enjoyable stay. My best wishes to Charles and Sandy.

Summer Vacation
The owners were very friendly and right there to answer questions or if any need that came up. The view from the deck is breathtaking. There was plenty of space for all the kids and both families to have their own space.

Nice getaway
The house overall was very nice. The best part of the house is the view you get of the water is absolutely stunning. You have all the basic cooking ware needed to make a meal along with all the spices, but make sure you bring your own condiments/coffee. The owners were easy to communicate with as well.

Excellent Stay
Charlie and Sandy were great hosts! They were very helpful with providing all the information we need for the stay. They were prompt with al the questions that we have. The location is a bit remote but the house is clean and comfortable! It has everything that we need to prepare our dinners and to keep us entertained. The house also has a great ocean view. Never get sick of the view from the deck.

Eclectic house in a small fishing community.
This is an eclectic house in a small little fishing village. The view of the bay is gorgeous. It was so peaceful to sit on the patio and just absorb the beauty. For us, it was a marvelous opportunity to see the fall colors of Maine and to completely get our fill of Lobster. Charlie was an amazing host and took us out on his Lobster boat. He also gave us a tutorial on cooking our "fresh caught Lobster" for dinner. AMAZING!!
We will be back.

Perfect getaway
We enjoyed our stay at this property so much. We had 4 couples in our group and we all were very comfortable staying there. Charlie and Sandy are great communicators and answered all of our many questions promptly. As others have said, the highlight was the trip with with Charlie to get a lesson in lobster fishing. What a feast we enjoyed with their expertise in how to eat lobster properly!
Plan to bring in groceries (or buy at Manaford’s- the best option for groceries) when you get there or drive 30 mins to a restaurant.
We loved our stay here and highly recommend this property!

Our First Visit to Maine
Our family enjoyed our stay at Charlie's and Sandy's, we had plenty of room for all 7 of us. The location is great for visiting all the area sites. We had a unique & unforgettable experience on the lobster boat. The children loved walking down for low tides each day. Our lobster feast was amazing. We were so blessed to have such a great Maine experience. Thanks so much to Charlie & Sandy for sharing their house, boat & time with us. We have wonderful memories to treasure.

Jonesport ME
We had a great stay at Jonesport. As grain farmers from Indiana, we really enjoyed our trip on Charly’s boat to harvest our dinner! Dave, Cameron and Charly told us all about their way of “farming” We realized we all have some of the same challenges as we put food on America’s plates! The house and accommodations were great. We would recommend this to anyone looking to get off the beaten path in beautiful Maine!

Fabulous spot in Maine
We had a delightful stay. Charlie and Sandy are very nice, checked in on us to ensure we had everything. Communication before the trip was great, and the house was provisioned with everything we needed. Great Wass Island Preserve and other area hiking areas were very beautiful and made for great day outings. The fresh lobsters were delicious. We look forward to a return in the future when our daughter is older and able to appreciate an outing on Charlie's boat!

I have to admit that I was a little worried when I read all the other reviews about Charlie & Sandy. I'm all for friendly hosts but everyone was speaking so highly of them that I was afraid they were going to be around too much or something. I've rented many lake/shore houses in Maine over the years and I've never come away feeling like I should praise the homeowners - just review the house. I have to admit though, I left this week knowing that I had to praise Charlie & Sandy. Charlie and Sandy were great hosts. Sandy was very responsive to my questions before the trip and Charlie was very easy to work with for lobster delivery (and the boat ride to watch them pull lobster traps). Charlie & his crew continued to be wonderful hosts and representatives of Jonesport and Maine during our boat ride. I couldn't have asked for more!As far as the rental house goes, it was exactly as described and looked just like the pictures (maybe even better). The views from the deck and family room were fantastic. There are 4 bedrooms and also a landing area outside two of the bedrooms that has a cot (my giant almost 13-year-old said the cot was very comfy - mattress style cot not a camping style cot). The kitchen was well stocked with pots & pans, storage & serving dishes, etc. They had both a regular coffee pot & a Keurig machine. TVs in all bedrooms. Overall, the house was set up very well for families, extended families, or even groups that might want to retreat to their bedroom for a little downtime or TV watching at the end of the day. Our entire group from the 12-year-old to the grandparents enjoyed our stay. Thanks for a great week in Jonesport!

Authentic Coastal ME Experience
This home was terrific - spacious, clean, with amenities and fully stocked to meet all our needs! Charlie and Sandy included many things, big and small, that are often missing from rentals - great outdoor BBQ and lobster cooking pot, washer & dryer and detergent, bath soaps, extra pillows and linens, kitchen spices and paper towels... and wifi and Netflix for those who can't completely disconnect. Wonderful coastal views from the back deck and from indoors, with access to the water for kayaking or treasure hunting along the coast during low tides. Wass Preserves is nearby/short drive, offering hiking out to gorgeous rocky coasts with amazing views - we loved hiking and picnicking at Wass, just make sure you give yourself far more time than anticipated for the (short?) hike. A special highlight of our trip was spending time on the lobster boat with Charlie, Sandy, and their crew - learning about the area (their families have lived there for generations!) and lobstering - watching their incredibly strenuous work as they caught our delicious lobster dinners! We enjoyed the freshest catch several times during our weekly stay. They also invited us to join them at sea for a day of lobster boat racing. Charlie and Sandy are friendly, caring, generous hosts, who made our vacation an authentic coastal Maine experience! A huge THANK YOU to our hosts!

Comfortable Coastal Maine
We just left an incredible 4 days in Jonesport, ME. We have been to Maine several times but never this far north. It is worth the drive for the wonderful rural coastal location and the comfortable home of Charles and Sandy. The waterfront location in a quaint fishing town is a real gem. The views from the deck, family room are terrific. The beds are comfortable and the included lobsters are a real treat. We only wish we would have stayed longer and brought our kids and grandkids. Charlie and Sandy are incredible hosts and terrific ambassadors for this downeast village. Highly recommend!

Authentic Maine
We enjoyed a 5-day vacation at Charlie and Sandy’s huge house. We were a party of four and there was a bedroom left over. There is cable TV in every bedroom and the family room/bar, fast wi-fi, washer, dryer, huge fridge, stove and microwave, and all necessary kitchen utensils. The deck is huge and comfortably furnished with an industrial propane lobster pot. The master bedroom suite is on the first floor with a walk-in shower in the bathroom. Three bedrooms and the other bathroom upstairs. There is plenty of parking on the premises. The view is fabulous.
Jonesport is authentic down east, small town Maine. As far as we could see we were the only tourists in town. There are convenience stores nearby and takeout food is available but there is no restaurant in Jonesport. However, there is a Hannaford’s supermarket 30 minutes away in Machias, which also has a good restaurant (Helen’s, with fabulous blueberry pie). Lubec is an hour north with another nice restaurant (Inn on the Wharf). Bar Harbor is one hour south and has everything, including Acadia National Park. There is a nice 5-mile hiking trail on Great Wass Island. It is an easy level walk through the woods, watching out for roots, and a somewhat difficult scramble over the rocks along the coast (with great views) before returning on another relatively easy walk back to the parking lot. It is well marked in the woods and adequately marked with occasional patches of blue paint on the rocks. We went at low tide. It might be best to avoid high tide. It took us 3 ½ hours to do the loop.
While the house is great, the views are spectacular, and the area is fantastic, the best part of staying in Jonesport is Charlie and Sandy. They are both just wonderful, down to earth people who really care about their house and their guests. It feels like we have friends in Jonesport. I learned all about lobster fishing talking with Charlie. The lobster feast was the highlight of our vacation.
We are already making plans to go back next year.

Fantastic owners and an Unbelievable view
The property was exactly as described, and the views are incredible. The owners Charlie and Sandy are unbelievable people who went well beyond expectations to make our trip special for the entire family. We will definitely be back for the house and Charlie and Sandy. If you are looking for a place to recharge and be surrounded by kind friendly people throughout the town. Then this is it!

Quaint property in quiet fishing town
If you’re looking for a relaxing, quiet vacation off the beaten path, then Jonesport, Maine is the place to be. This property was comfortable and well equipped for our group of 8. Charlie and Sandy great hosts and were easy to communicate with. We spent a day in Bar Harbor, a day hiking the Waas Island Preserve, and a fantastic day with Charlie on his boat followed by a dinner of freshly caught lobster. We felt like family. It was a wonderful week!
