Relax and refresh at Rustic Acres Homestead & Springs. Rustic Acres was family built and is family run. This is a great place for a family getaway or dedicated time to catch up with friends!

Guest access
Guests have access to all main areas of the house, both decks, the fire pit in front of the lower level, the waterfall and spring. The garage is also an apartment where Jon our property manager stays, so that is not shared.

Other things to note
We have WiFi at Rustic Acres, but the cell service is non-existent. You may be able to make calls at the end of the drive or can use the landline for emergencies.

Please note we welcome travelers, and you may have fellow visitors in the camper during camping season. The camper is located on the far end of the property away from the house.

We absolutely loved our stay at Rustic Acres!! The house is huge and has so many fun touches. We loved playing the board games, making s'mores at the fire pit, eating dinner out on the deck, and the pool table. But the highlight is the creek and waterfall in the yard!! My kids had a blast and spent hours exploring the creek and waterfall. The house is a perfect location, just outside of town and close to all the attractions. It was so much fun and we're already thinking of making plans to come back next year!!

The house and property are perfect. It was the perfect get away for 2 families with teenagers to catch up and spend quality family time together. The kitchens had everything we needed. And te kids loved the board games. Especially Harry Potter Clue and Decorah Monopoly.

Wonderful property. Spring and creek were beautiful! House was clean, well-equipped and warm even in January in Decorah Iowa. Uncle Jon was friendly and knowledgeable about the area. 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ all around!!

We came to have a relaxing bachelorette/ girl's trip.... and it was exactly that! The scenery is breathtaking, the house has ample space, and so easy to find. Thank you for a wonderful, relaxing, and memorable trip!

Everything about Rustic Acres and the description is true. Everything was absolutely wonderful. The spring provided a lovely natural background sound for our evenings. The location. Was easy to get to and close enough to Decorah and Bluffton for canoeing. The home was the perfect size for our group of eight. Actually we had room for more. We had fires every evening with all of our family all around the fire pit. The children played in the yard, played volleyball, hiked and the best thing of all we made memories. We sat at the dinner table every day for Breakfast and dinner. So nice to have everything we needed to make our meals. Only wish we had a few more days there. Because it was truly delightful. I’m originally from Northeast Iowa and I wanted to show my grandkids where I go up. This was the best place to settle every day … I would recommend Rustic Acres to everyone. And hope to return there again someday soon. I will stay a little bit longer.👍😘💕💕

We had such a great time. The house was what we needed. It was so accommodating to what we needed. Just wished the weather would have been nicer to enjoy the outside more. The kids loved the waterfall and it was so nice to take them fishing right down the road. That way if they got tired they could just come back to the house. Perfect place that was very relaxing get away.

Great Country Retreat

Great Country Retreat

This property is a wonderful country retreat. The grounds are secluded with a private spring that flows into a waterfall and meandering creek. The kitchens (both upstairs and downstairs) are well equipped with anything needed to cook meals. The bedrooms on three separate levels offered adequate privacy, and the common areas were great for socializing. A caretake lives on the grounds in a building separate from the house, and the owner communicated with us both before and after our stay. I highly recommend this property.

Rustic Acres is the perfect getaway for any size group. This time it was just two of us for a girl's getaway. But we will be back with more friends in the spring and our families in the summer. The owner was great with communications and Jon, the property manager was excellent. We felt right at home and were able to truly relax and unwind. I can't wait to go back! (I also highly recommend checking out the winery just down the road)

Wonderful site for gathering and removing yourself from outside tensions. Whether it is the waterfall in the background or walk on the beautiful grounds to relax, this one is a gem!!! Full equipped with anything you would need and very clean.

It was a relaxing getaway with the whole family. We enjoyed exploring the creek and waterfall, playing yard games, and the fire pit in the massive yard. There was plenty of space in the house for all of us to spread out. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed for cooking. The beds were comfy and we were close enough to enjoy all that Decorah has to offer.

We found the property to be as described, no surprises except how nice and fully equipped it was. Spacious, comfortable, clean, kitchen, bath, games, firewood, WiFi, all we needed or wanted and more. Interesting area, vibrant town for small community, Toppling Goliath brewery and others as well, Spillville/Bily Clocks, Seed Savers nearby. Quiet and restful retreat. We want to return.

We all had the best time at Rustic Acres! Such a beautiful property, and the cabin was stocked with everything you need! We played volleyball, had s’mores around the fire, and enjoyed how peaceful it was! Also super close to great wineries and breweries! We all wanted to stay the rest of the week. Communication was very easy and everything went so smoothly! Definitely recommend this place to everyone and I will be back in the future! :)

Best way to get your kids and grandkids close pay... for the vacation. This took care of me wife adult kids teenage kids and grandkids. Trout stream within walking distance cool waterfall that you can hear when you're relaxing around the campfire. Onsite manager was there when we needed him but did not feel he was in the way at all, super nice guy and full of good information. We had a great time would definitely stay here again we did have to sharpen the knives though 😂

Driving up the long gravel driveway through the horse pasture, we knew we were in for a great family stay. The house was nothing short of amazing. When we walked in the door, we were greeted with a hand made sign with our name on it - thanks to "Uncle" Jon. The view and the sound of the waterfall right out the living room window was one of my favorite spots to sit and relax. There was plenty of space for everyone to enjoy the property. We spent most days out on the back patio watching the kids play in the yard. Giggles, laughter, stories and time was well spent at the Rustic Acres homestead. Uncle Jon took the kids up to see the Cave and the giant waterfall - they came back with many stories. We also got to feed the horses - and made friends as long as we had carrots and apples in our hands. Time went too fast, but we are already talking about our next trip back. Thank you Rustic Acres for your hospitality and attention to detail, it made our family vacation one for the books.

"Snowed In" Getaway

"Snowed In" Getaway

Our family had a great (albeit short) stay at Rustic Acres. In the days leading up to the stay, the weather forecast indicated 6+ inches of snow for our one full day. I'm pretty sure we ended up with 8+ inches! What a place to be "snowed in"! We walked around the property in the snow to see the two waterfalls, played Disney tunes on the piano for the kids to sing along, played board/card games, played pool, built a fire in one of two wood burning fireplaces, and watched movies. The turkeys even made appearances at the waterfall closest to the house twice! The home is spacious, the views amazing, the furniture and beds comfortable, and special touches - such as complimentary ground coffee, microwave popcorn and breakfast bars - show the care and attention to details that the owners and property manager instill in this property. We hope to stay again in the future, maybe when there's no snow and we can enjoy a bonfire!
