About this house rental

Charming and spacious 2-story, 3-bedroom house located at 40 Oak Street in Boothbay Harbor (you can google map the address and click "street view" to view the house, property and neighborhood). Just a 5-minute leisurely stroll to the harbor, restaurants and shops, the house has high grand ceilings and comfortable beds. There is a big deck with a grill and fabulous views of the bucolic surroundings. There is also a nice sunroom with stunning views of historic Oak Street. Parking is an ongoing issue in downtown Boothbay Harbor, but not here. We have ample parking for 3 vehicles.

My family was very happy with our stay. The house was pleasant, clean, and well-maintained. The hosts were easy to reach with any questions, and were happy to share info about the Boothbay area. If you want to stay in Boothbay, you can't beat the location -- it's a quck walk to the center of town.

Although owners were kind, property seemed to have been in the midst of cleaning when cleaner left. Garbage had been left on the porch and dirty linens left in a bag in the kitchen. Appliances hadn’t been cleaned, there was evidence of rodents, and bed linens had stains. When we arrived, the door with the lockbox was double locked, and we were not able to get in until we discovered that the side doors had been left unlocked. This all left us feeling unsafe. We decided not to stay and were issued a full refund.

Great location, within 5-minute walk to harbor, shops, and lots of dining. However, while the bathrooms, kitchen and floors were pretty clean, the house had not been dusted in a very long time. All tabletops, windowsills, lamps, fan blades and furniture were very dusty. This house sleeps six but there is enough furniture for many more which causes sitting rooms to feel crowded. There are three big chairs positioned in the corners of the breakfast room that should be in a living room and are in the way. The king-sized bed is too big for the room to the point that you are not able to access the closet, at least not very easily. There are, however, multiple dressers with drawers if you want to unpack. It’s just very inconvenient to hang any clothes in the primary bedroom. The two other rooms with queen beds were comfortable. There is no A/C, so you are at the mercy of a cool breeze. There are a lot of windows which I’m sure most of the time would allow for sufficient cooling. Maybe this is not an issue most years, but the last week of June into July of 2024 was pretty warm in Maine.

Overall the house was ok. It’s in a great location to walk to shops and restaurants. The toilet in one bathroom had not been cleaned in a while and the shower in the downstairs bathroom had obviously not been cleaned before our stay. Not filthy but obviously missed during any pre arrival cleaning. Beds were comfortable and parking was no problem at the house. Overall not a bad house, but cleaning service needs to be addressed.

The house was ready on time and clean...location was perfect for great walks through town... kitchen has plenty of the essentials.. owner has a wonderful response rate and gave us several ideas on where to have a great dinner...already looking forward to our next trip..

Apparently the previous tenants damaged the property. The place was not clean, furniture is outdated, the main TV would not work per the instructions, and the dishwasher was broken. It took some effort but the owner replaced the TV remote and tried to fix the DW but was unable. Somehow we missed the fact that it is NOT air conditioned.

We had a lovely stay in Boothbay Harbor. The house is very conveniently located walking distance to the center of town and the ferries. The kitchen, with bbq, was easy to use for cooking. Bedrooms were comfortable. The living room furniture could use a refresh, but was functional. David was also very responsive.

Good location, walking distance to town. Great deck with privacy. Nice back yard with a fire pit nicely landscaped. Would recommend and we would definitely stay again. Beds were all comfortable. Our family truly enjoyed the stay. Only one issue our stay just wasn’t long enough!!

We booked this house because we were up visiting family...I cannot say enough about how good the location was, kitchen was well equipped(we were able to host some family for dinner) the deck relaxing to sit on...beds extremely comfortable and the house was spotless when we arrived...we hope to definitely be back ASAP....

We had an excellent time for three day touring the Boothbay Harbor eating lobsters, clams, oysters and blueberry pie. The house was close to the center of the harbor where all activities of the weekend were. Great Time by all.

The house is a beautiful house. Very clean and well kept. It looks newly updated and has all the things needed to make your stay very comfortable. This house is also in a great location. A short walk to the center of town. Perfect to go back and forth multiple times a day if you feel like it. David was very nice and answered all the questions I had at the beginning of our stay (and said to call if we had any questions at all during our stay). I would highly recommend this house for anyone interested in going to Boothbay Harbor.

My family and I have vacationed in the Boothbay region for more than half a century. We have rented many different houses and this one was up there on quality. The location was perfect for my family as we could walk to boat rides, shopping and eating easily and without looking for parking. We had a wonderful stay and no complants.

We enjoyed our stay - the property is located on a street with a bit of traffic but the upside is walking distance to downtown, where parking is very hard to come by. King bedroom was very comfortable, loved the ceiling fan. Overall, we were very happy with our stay.

Comfortably fit our family of 5. Close to town which was helpful, being this year BBH was the busiest we've ever seen it. Property manager, David, was great and very responsive with any questions we had. Only issue was our check in ran late due to the cleaning lady going overtime, we ended up making the beds just to be able to get her to finally leave. The house has an apartment with a resident living in it to the side, but she was very quiet and respectful. Wouldn't even know she was there. Overall another wonderful stay in BBH!

Great location, should be better prepped for renters

The location was great. The house could be too but when we arrived the kitchen specifically the refrigerator, freezer and pantry was the full of food from the owner/past renters. The dishes, pans and glasses needed washing before we could use them. The owner was responsive and the handyman came to fix the toilet but it could have been better prepared so we didn’t have to do all that. We had a great time in Boothbay Harbor and the location for walking into town was wonderful.
