We are very grateful to Dawn and Chris for renting this wonderful cabin on the lake! The cabin is small and smartly, solidly built and perfect for 2 people..there is a loft bedroom upstairs with 2 more beds but with the access via ladder-stairs it would be best for older children. Everything was so clean on arrival as the reviews have noted and the coffee supply with sugar and creamers was a very thoughtful and welcoming touch! Although we did not really need it, the air conditioning unit is quiet and effective (and was one of the amenities that attracted us) - as well as a washer and dryer. The lake is big but very quiet and we only got to see the loons after being here for 4 days! The area is wooded but on a sunny day the light is plentiful. This is a wonderful and special place.

This cottage was wonderful, clean and had everything we needed. The host was very helpful and responsive. Our teen daughters had a blast on the lake and we made lots of great memories here!

We couldn’t ask for a better place to decompress and spend quality family time together! My 14 and 12 year old keep us very busy throughout the year and this is our opportunity to be in the moment and take a breath. We loved swimming, fishing, kayaking, playing cards, and cooking dinners together. We spent a day in Boothbay and another day at Pemaquid Beach. It was exactly what we needed and have looked forward to since our stay last year. The property is very clean and has everything you need. Beyond compare are the sights and sounds of the water.

The property was beautifully maintained, every amenity we could have expected was available, including air conditioning, which wasn’t expected! My husband and I would absolutely recommend this property for a secluded getaway. Very peaceful. 😌

My friend and I stayed here for a few days. The space was very clean and it was great to have the fire pit and kayaks to use and the location on the water is peaceful and beautiful. The location was a good middle spot to go either toward Augusta or to the coastal towns. We also appreciated the host’s recommendations - we had a great breakfast one morning at the Jefferson Market. I would stay here again and recommend it for anyone who is looking to get away from the city and enjoy Maine!

The property was perfect for what I was looking for last weekend: a calm and quiet place to enjoy peacefulness.

The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed to be able to enjoy a quiet and peaceful get-away. We used the canoe and explored the lake, where we saw loons and other wildlife. Very beautiful lake. All and all, we would be happy to comeback for another stay.

We had a wonderful stay at this great little spot on the pond. SO peaceful and quiet - gorgeous morning sun on the deck looking out over conservation land. The cabin had everything we needed for our few days and was exceptionally clean. The cabin is very comfortable but is small and intimate - perfect for a couple or close family! We loved paddling on the kayaks and caught numerous bass and pickerel. Great communication with Dawn leading up to the visit.

My boyfriend's father passed this past May and we wanted to return to the lake that the family had a cottage on from 1971 until 2004. It brought back a lot of memories and we were lucky enough to rent from Chris and Dawn just a few cottages down from the old cottage. Chris and Dawn have a beautiful place that allows you to disconnect from the world and enjoy nature. It was very peaceful and relaxing. We are already talking about returning next year for a longer stay than just the few days we had.

I grew up just down the road and this cabin was everything that I hoped for and a textbook Maine “camp” with modern comforts and the perfect location. Every time I thought we needed something I opened a drawer and there it was! 10/10! Great week!

One of our most relaxing and serene vacations. We swam, kayaked, played cards, watched movies, and ate ice cream more than once. The view from the deck is unmatched and the water was unbelievably warm. It was just the recharge we needed.

Our family had a great time at the cottage! The cottage and the surroundings are quiet and peaceful and a stay here is really an opportunity to unplug. There are several kayaks and a canoe available for use during the stay, as well as paddles, life vests (toddler, youth and adult sizes) and pool noodles. The kitchen is stocked with enough dishes, utensils and pots and pans to cook meals while appliances like a blender, microwave, coffee maker (coffee included) and toaster are present as well. The location of the cottage is such that if you are looking to either visit some towns, explore some hiking trails or visit the coast there are many great options within a 30-90 min drive. Communication with the owners prior to arrival was quick and easy. Thank you for a great stay!

The cabin lived up to expectations. I could sit on the deck and watch the wildlife forever, loon, bald eagle, and much more. The minute you walk in it feels like home. The host is very responsive and helpful.
The only thing to think twice about is the loft. It is challenging to access for anyone with mobility issues or small children though older children would think it awesome.

The location is absolutely perfect. The views are stunning. The cabin is secluded, but has all of the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. My husband and I first rented this cabin in 2002. We've dealt with 3 different owners. The latest owners have added a lot of amenities that have truly elevated the property.
Dyer Long Pond is a beautiful place. It's gorgeous and quiet, yet within driving distance of lovely little towns.

Our stay was wonderful and most everything we expected. It would have been nice if the owner initiated more communication to make sure everything was okay, much like a waitress checks to make sure was as expected.

This cabin retreat is so peaceful! We had everything we needed and more. Very clean, and well kept. Dawn obviously takes pride in being a great host!! The pond was so beautiful with the fall colors beginning to break through and reflecting off the water!. The cabin is close enough to the coast to take a day trip and still enjoy time at "home". What a wonderful piece of heaven! Thank You!

Welcoming, calming, renewing. Situated so that you immediately feel the privacy you seek. Access to water could not be any easier. Paddling lake is perfect size. Outdoor deck offers stunning view of trees & water as you sip drinks & make meals on the provided clean grill. Cabin is charming, sufficient. If you want to pull yourself away from this hideaway, a must do & see is Hidden Valley Nature Center about 3 miles from house. Trails are abundant & gorgeous. Lastly, the owners of this cabin are very responsive, a huge plus!

We were able to see quite a bit of wild life. We enjoyed the serenity of the pond and are planning on coming back. Dawn provided all the amenities that you could think of.

We had a spectacular experience here! Appreciated the open floor plan, along with the fine attached deck which allow for pond and opposite shoreline tree views constantly. We were fortunate to have warm, sunny weather, taking advantage of the kayaking, paddle-boarding, and swimming often. A bald eagle landed directly across from us which we observed till its flight away. Saw loons while kayaking. Took a scenic hike at Dodge Point Preserve in Newcastle. 3 nights not nearly enough time for all of the wonderful destinations in the area, especially when time spent on the premises, alone, is all that's really necessary to make you happy. All was well-stocked, clean, and comfortable inside and outside the cottage. Thank you, Dawn for hosting, and for prompt, helpful, and friendly communication throughout! Sincerely, Steve and Cathy

The eight year old loved the sleeping loft.

This is a beautiful peaceful cabin in a quiet location. The swimming was heavenly — I even swam with a pair of loons. Open floor plan was a challenge with four teens and several snorers (!) but that’s on me; the description of the property is very accurate. Dawn is super responsive and the property is impeccable. Perfect getaway for a couple or family with one or two kids.

If what you’re looking for is a chance to relax and enjoy the beauty and serenity of a beautiful Maine Lake, Dyer Long Pond is a great destination. We loved swimming, kayaking, birdwatching and just sitting and taking in the loveliness. Dawn is a fantastic host and looked out for our needs ( great communication!). Her lake camp is lovely and clean with all the amenities needed and a deck that looks out onto the lake. FYI The beds were also very comfortable which matters. We enjoyed every minute and would come back again.

Beautiful secluded lakeside property
This is a great place to stay in a beautiful part of Maine! The pictures accurately depict both the cottage and the surrounding environment. The cottage was very well kept and had all of the necessary amenities. The owner responded to our communications quickly and we had no problems with the rental at all.
Trip highlights:
Our six-year old spent hours in the lake both in the water and sharing one of the kayaks.
We were visited by loons, hummingbirds, and assorted other creatures.
Nearby lake Damariscotta has a more traditional swimming area where our daughter had fun playing with other children.
One caveat about the cottage that didn't affect us negatively, but might impact some: Two of the three beds are in a loft accessible by a ladder (accurately depicted in the pictures) that will be fine for most, but perhaps an issue for very young children or people with mobility issues.
Overall, we'd 100% recommend this cottage for people looking for a Maine vacation getaway.

Loved everything about it
Thoroughly enjoyed our week here. The camp was very clean,
and had everything we needed. Great morning sun on the deck. Very quiet pond that was fun to paddle around. And a farm stand with fresh strawberries only a couple of miles up the road. Hosts were very responsive.

Just what we were looking for
We wanted a place that was on the water, with a canoe and maybe a kayak, with fishing and a kitchen. It was all that and more -- there were two kayaks and also a paddle board! The kitchen was nicer than I expected and the loft area was perfect for two kids. The stairs to get up to the loft are a little steep, but there are hand rails on both sides so it was no problem for us at all. The cabin is pretty small but it doesn't feel that way because it has a good layout. The view of the lake is tremendous and kind of mesmerizing because you are situated up a little high but quite close to the water. The site is shaded by trees just the right amount - it wasn't too windy but there was enough of a breeze to keep any pesky bugs away. I would say anyone looking for a comfortable but not super huge or fancy cabin on the lake could not find a better place to stay.
PS: I can also recommend the breakfast sandwiches (as well as groceries) at Jefferson Market and General Store, which is an 11 minute drive away.
