About this apartment rental
Tachbrook started life as a mid-17th century cottage with a second cottage added next door during the Victorian era. The current owners completely renovated and restored the two cottages, with the Georgian half forming the living room and master bedroom and the Victorian half forming the remainder of the house. Both sides blend perfectly, retaining the character of each era, to form the luxury, Grade-II listed holiday home that you see today.
At the front is an immaculate garden with a stone path leading to the front door. A drive and garage sit to the left-hand side, providing parking for two cars. To the right-hand side is a residential lane where guests will find a wooden gate that opens to the garden and patio – also accessible through the kitchen.
Welcoming is the best way to describe Tachbrook's interior. The owners' attention to detail, using the perfect combination of colour, fabrics, furniture and lighting, has created a style that would easily feature in any interior magazine. On the ground floor is a delightful living room with a wood burner and a beautiful dining room connecting through to the fully equipped kitchen, with a back door out to the garden and patio. Upstairs are two bedrooms - one with a super king-size bed and en-suite shower room and the other with two single beds - and a large family bathroom with a bath and separate shower. (The twin beds can be converted to a super-king on request).

Step through the front door into the living room and the Georgian side of the house. This beautiful, dual-aspect room, with its pretty bay window and view to the garden behind, is light, bright and elegantly furnished with two sofas, an armchair, a footstool, occasional tables and reading lamps. The room features a large, original inglenook fireplace with a wood burner fire. A smart TV is provided, with a Sky Sports package, as well as family games, books and walking maps.
Dining Room:
Guests will notice the change of era as they walk into the dining room, with its higher ceiling and delicate, Victorian, glass-fronted china cabinets. At the bay window is a parlour-like setting with two chairs for guests to sit and read by the light streaming into the front of the house.

A feature of Tachbrook that sets it apart from many other holiday cottages in Charlbury – as well as its luxury interior - is its great outside space, which includes a private, walled garden, and off-street parking for two cars – one in a garage. To the front of the house is a delightful, gravelled courtyard garden with red robin bushes and box hedging. To one side is a garage, accessible from the front or via the garden, and to the other is side access leading to a wooden gate that opens into the garden and terrace. Gorgeous well appointed, super comfortable cottage with a peaceful, private and sun filled back garden to relax in. Highly recommended.

This was our first time visiting the Cotswolds. The cottage is very charming and has all of the necessary modern conveniences. The beds are super comfortable and the off-street parking is ideal.
Charlbury is a wonderful town that exceeded our expectations. The location was central to many of our day trips. We enjoyed our evening walks, passing by friendly locals and fellow visitors. The church bells ringing Sunday morning was wonderful.
The Charlbury train station is just a short drive. London is approximately an hour train ride. The Coop is great for picking up necessities or a quick snack.
There were a couple of areas in the cottage that were not as clean as we expected, notably, the bathroom and kitchen surfaces and the laundry area. That said, once we gave everything a quick wipe down, all was good.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Tachbook and Charlbury. Our trip to the Cotswolds was our first but will not be our last. Both the cottage and town have set a high standard for our future visits. We will strongly considering booking Tachbrook again.

Really enjoyed staying at Tachbrook. The process was incredibly simple and it was as advertised and as we hoped.

Fabulous cottage, perfect for 2 couples catching up for a weekend away.
Big comfy beds, immaculate house, kitchen was really well stocked up so we could cook and eat in very comfortably.
Lots of little extras to help our stay, walking books and local information and the washing machine was used after a very muddy walk.
Thank you, a really lovely stay. Vanessa

The location of the cottage central to the village of Charlbury - easy to access local shops and the two pubs [The Bell just had a 'make over ' and having had a meal there not that impressed]. The cottage had a small driveway which was a bonus rather than trying to park in the road, which was quite narrow for passing traffic.
The inside of the cottage comfortable, kitchen small but all the appliances were of good quality. Only issue was the small size of the dish washer - which meant it had to be carefully filled and put on frequently.
Bathrooms and bedrooms excellent.
Rear garden very nice for sitting out [when we stayed the weather perfect.]

The house is simply wonderful. It is very tastefully furnished, you could move in here immediately, has all and more amenities (insane cooker, lots of dishes, big fridge, washer and dryer, grill, nice glasses) has enough space for a family with one or two children or for two couples, a beautiful little garden with two super seating areas. You can park your car very comfortably in front of the garage or if it is a smaller car also in the garage. The house is opposite the village church and in two minutes you can reach wonderful pubs; we were very enthusiastic about the Bull. We still think a lot about the lovely time we had in Charlbury / Tatchbrook.

This was the perfect welcoming cottage in a great location to explore The Cotswolds. Spotlessly clean and well thought out for short breaks or longer stays, it was stylishly furnished, but also very comfortable. Would highly recommend for couples and smaller families at any time of the year.

Tachbrook has a long history, yet has been suitably modernized. Charlbury is a small village but with sufficient services, including convenient train service to Oxford and London. It was the perfect place for us. the weather was good too!

It was wonderful. We loved the inside of the house. The beautiful charming old building that was completly renovated and modernised in a wonderful way. We also loved the beautiful designed and well kept garden. The area around was great, being in the middle of the nice town of charlbury and also in the middle of the beautiful cotswolds

Beautiful Cotswold Stay
This property was remodeled to a very high standard and sits in a great location in Charlbury. The local community was great with local gathering spots and all the essential needs. We are definitely going back for a longer stay.

A Stunning Property in A Beautiful Location
From the very start dealing with Bolthole Retreats we were very impressed. From the answering an initial query in great detail and advising us on how to get best value from our stay with them, through additional support for travel cot and highchair needs before arrival, we were super happy.
On arrival at Tachbrook it did not disappoint. The property is quite frankly stunning with a beautifully maintained front garden and a short gravel drive that will fit a good sized vehicle. Inside the level of quality continues. The downstairs living spaces are well appointed and styled in a country cottage manner as you would want in a property like this and very comfortable. The kitchen is well set out and has all the basic cooking utensils you would need, even a small hand blender and scales should the desire to bake a cake be overwhelming.
The upstairs follows suit with two lovely bedrooms a double and a twin single as well as two bathrooms with underfloor heating.
To the rear is a lovely little garden with seating and dining areas and a small lawn.
Charlbury is a stunning little town/village and the CO-OP is well stocked with everything you would need for a few days away. The Bull is a charming pub with very friendly and helpful staff as well as great food and beers and is well worth a visit.
We would 100% recommend the property to friends and family and in fact already have.

Ideal getaway
Tachbrook is in a ideal position to tour the Cotswolds area. The house is large enough for four adults to live comfortably and is very clean and tidy with all mod cons. Sits in a nice village with picturesque church opposite and a pub 50 metres away. Would stay again.

A Cotswold stay- Customer Support
contacted property manager by email prior to visit requesting double beds in each bedroom.
one bedroom had 2 single beds.
Phoned property manager at 6.15 pm on thursday 10th March and left message on voicemail to call me back. No reply by 9pm so phoned again and call not answered.
No call back received. Just as well it was not a major problem with the property.
Left a bad taste in what had been a very enjoyable break

Fabulous Winter mini-break in Charlbury
Tachbrook is a charming old Cotswold stone cottage in the heart of Charlbury. The owners have thought of everything to make their guests comfortable- it is tastefully decorated throughout, very well-equipped and immaculately presented. Great location in the heart of the Cotswolds. The log burner made it perfect for a Winter Retreat.

Comfortable and cosy
An extremely comfortable and cosy house to stay in which was very clean and well organised. It had a well landscaped garden and patio area which would be lovely in summer to sit out in.The house was very well well equipped. The only thing we could not find, which we would have liked, was a small milk jug. This was obviously not an essential item but may be worth putting on the wish list (unless we just could not find it!) We would definitely book again.

We had a lovely stay at this superbly renovated and decorated property. Lovely garden and all the amenities you would need. Only gripe is the lounge is a little dark and would benefit from some additional lighting.

Fabulous Cottage
The cottage has been renovated in a most appropriate and quality manner. All the furniture, appliances, equipment etc etc are of a very high quality and ensure a comfortable stay. The sun trap in the corner of the garden is a bonus on a bright but chilly autumn day!

Tachbrook, Charlbury
A great base for travelling around and if you are after a tranquil break it is absolutely spot on. The Town (if you can call it that) is so friendly and the little Deli is really welcoming. We have now stayed in the cottage on two occasions and would be more than happy to return.

Tachbrook stay
Four of us spent a week in this lovely cottage. We were impressed with the cottage and walled garden and with the quality of the fittings and furniture. Everything we needed was there including a good supply of china, glass and cookware. We found the beds very comfortable and the village was quiet so there was no problem sleeping.
Charlbury is a good location. There is a Co-op supermarket which has most of what you will need. It is less busy than many other Cotswold villages yet is in easy reach of lovely places to visit. You do need a car but the train station is only five minutes walk from the house and we used that to take a trip to Oxford. There are some lovely walks in the area and there was good information provided in the house to help you with these and with other aspects of your stay.
All in all, we had a memorable week away and recommend Tachbrook for a comfortable stay.

AN enjoable stay
An excellent property for our stay. Our only adverse comment relates to yhe cleaning. Excellent up stairs but the carpet in the lounge had crumbs and bits on it, whilst in the dinning room there crumbs on all the chairs around the table. There was a bra left behind one of the cushions on the chairs in the bay window.

Great house perfectly located in the Cotswolds.
Very clean house with all the amenities needed for our stay.

A great place to use as a base with lovely villages not too far. A true village atmosphere.
We had the advantage of already knowing Charlbury which is a charming place, not touristy, villagers all friendly and chatty. Little Deli is great for bits and pieces and coffee and cake. Co-op about 8 mins walk away. We visited several little nearby places all of which were delightful. We would love to come again and would have no hesitation in recommending this cottage to others. It is a little gem. If you want to go to places like Oxford the train station is a little walk away and there are also buses. We hope to be able to visit again in the future.
