About this cottage rental

Nestled, just a stone’s throw from the Village Green is Low Cottage, a holiday home for up to four people in the pretty village of Reeth in Swaledale.

This holiday cottage is a delightful and welcoming, end of terrace property where you shall feel right at home. It offers two comfortable bedrooms upstairs, one spacious master king bedroom to the front of the cottage and one twin bedroom to the rear.

Downstairs is a well-equipped kitchen, a family shower room and a cosy living room with dining area and wood burner. The lounge and upper bedrooms have window seats which are perfect for soaking up the atmosphere of the village and the views of the surrounding hills from the bedrooms. The cottage is heated throughout by oil fired central heating, has free WiFi via fibre broadband and a 32inch smart TV with Freeview.

Outside the cottage is a cast iron bench, which is a lovely spot to enjoy a morning brew or a glass of vino in the evening after a day exploring the Dales. This bolt-hole is tucked slightly off the Green but close enough to be part of the buzz on a busy summer’s day.

All in all, this is the ideal base for a family, a couple or two couples, from which to explore this much-loved part of the world.

Low Cottage is situated in an outdoor enthusiast’s haven. Reeth is a charming village in the midst of the Swaledale Valley. The fell walking and bike riding here is second to none with the iconic Fremington Edge towering over Reeth and other fells such as Calver Hill and Harkerside, all of which are accessible straight from the door. Part of the well-trod Coast to Coast and Pennine Way long distance walks pass close by if you would like to take on a section or two. There are also many low-level walks. One can choose from riverside walks along the River Swale or the Arkle beck to the man-made surfaced path known as the Swale Trail which starts nearby in Grinton and finishes in Keld. This has been developed for those with young children whom wish to cycle together or have buggies, and for other people whom may have limited mobility.

You can also take a scenic drive to the market town of Hawes over the infamous Buttertubs, or to Leyburn over Grinton Moor both of which were thrust into the limelight during the Tour de France in 2014 – Grinton Moor being the last major climb of Stage 1. It is still a popular road ride today and is part of many popular routes in the area.

There are various pubs locally and 3 within the village itself, so you’ll find no problem purchasing that well-earned pint or proper pub grub after a day’s activity. In the village there is also The Burgoyne Hotel, for a special meal and amazing Sunday roast, 4 cafes, a post office with a shop for essential items, 2 bakeries, a photography gallery, a museum, arts and craft centre and ice cream parlour.

What’s more, Low Cottage is also one of our dog friendly cottages and welcome one well behaved dog . If you are bringing bikes with you there is a metal bike stand to the rear of the accommodation which is secured to the ground for bike storage, all you will need is your lock. Parking is on a first come first served basis on the Village Green which is approximately 10 metres away from the cottage.

Electricity and initial supply of wood for the log burner, towels, bed and kitchen linen are included in the rental charge.

Lovely cottage in ideal location. Just a couple of tweaks needed to make it perfect… Kitchen scissors in drawer would be helpful, more than 2 loo rolls would be welcome, and some spare (more robust) bin bags.

We had a fabulous few days in a lovely cottage. It was situated opposite the village green and there was no problem with parking. There are 2 shops in the village which supplied all immediate needs. A special mention about the bread shop, Dales Bakery, which supplied a range of lovely breads as well as a good breakfast. Would certainly stay here again if we cam to Reeth in the future.

Lovely wee cottage in a beautiful village. Very handy for the shop and 3 pubs within 2 mins walk. The living room is very cosy and the bedroom is lovely. The welcome pack was a bit stingy considering it's a relatively expensive cottage, just a packet of biscuits.
