I have never written a bad review or had a bad experience with a rental. However we had a nightmare experience with this host during our wedding night, of all times.
The night of our wedding--which was hosted a nearby venue--we brought a small group of family home to celebrate. Around 10pm, a loud alarm started sounding, scaring our family. The host sent texts IN ALL CAPS telling us to call him. My new husband spent a half hour on the phone with him trouble shooting, where the host was rude and refused to believe that we hadn't triggered the alarm with a flood (there was no flood, we provided photos).
We left the house spotless, except for a soda spill on a vinyl basement floor, which we tried to clean, but there were no mops or ANY cleaning materials in the house to do so. The host charged us $300 extra for cleaning, and sent nasty messages to us alleging we had lied about the size of our wedding (which we hadn't).
The mattress cover in the primary bedroom had a large yellow urine stain on it. I alerted the host, who told me "that's a lie" when I told him the sheets were soiled, arguing that this urine stain didn't meet the definition of "soiled."
This is all unfortunate as the house is in a great location. However, it is a gargantuan McMansion among small, adorable antique-y coastal homes--an unfortunate representation of destructive coastal development and gentrification in an otherwise charming place. My recommendation is to stay elsewhere and support local business.

Well-situated gorgeous space for several families to gather, eat good food, swim, kayak, and enjoy lovely views from every window.

We had a very nice stay at this house. The views are amazing. The house was well appointed with everything we needed. Enjoyed everything. Would recommend to others.

My family (me, my wife, and two children aged 17 and 14) stayed at this charming seaside house between Christmas and New Year's and had a wonderful time. We have always loved visiting Bailey's Island but have never stayed over night. The island is a perfect getaway during the Holidays for some r&r with your loved ones. The house had all of the modern comforts while providing our family ample room during our stay. The host was gracious and a very good communicator. We hope to stay at this property next year!

This house was beautiful! Every room, Including bedrooms, had a view of the water or harbor. Kitchen and family room were spacious and sunny. We enjoyed the other sitting room as well with pool table and bar. Entire house was clean and very welcoming!
Our family enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and we would definitely recommend to others. Booking and communicating with Matt was exceptionally easy. He answered any and all questions and was
Watching the lobster boats come in and out was fantastic!

Very clean and well maintained home. Made for entertaining, we came to Brunswick for Bowdoin family weekend, due to the sad events in Lewiston, all Friday events were canceled, things were made better by being able to have our son and several other families over for a lobster boil while we sheltered in place.

Our family had a wonderful stay. The home has plenty of room for people to spread out over two floors. The location is spectacular with amazing Maine coastal views from every window. Cook’s Lobster House is a two minute drive from the property. Overall a very memorable experience and we would love to come back again.

We had a great time in this spacious and well-appointed home, in spite of a brief visit from Hurricane Lee.

Sea breezes and views out EVERY window, the perfect spot for large groups. We had both sides of the family there for an intimate celebration and it was amazing to be able to sit together around the table and complete a puzzle, connect as a family. Gorgeous house, very comfortable and plentiful furniture & bathrooms. The only thing that leaves me from giving 5 stars is the loft is part of the 3rd bedroom so to declare 4 bedrooms in the ad is a bit misleading, because if you are 4 different couples, assuming that you’re going into 4 different private bedrooms, but then show up and the “4th bedroom” is actually a loft containing twin beds quite literally on top of the bed in the 3rd bedroom, and you haven’t met the people staying in bedroom 3 before? It’s awkward. I would change that in the ad—make it more clear—however, the couches on both floors are INCREDIBLY comfortable and made up for the lack of privacy in a pinch. Again, absolutely stunning. Great communication. Grandparents needed elevator, fully stocked kitchen supplies (side note: ice makers don’t produce ice), and plentiful towels. Soooo clean. Having rented numerous homes, it would be incredibly helpful if owners provide a home manual, speaking to all aspects of property, including how run equipment like the elevator, sleep number bed, remote control curtains, rc fireplaces, intercom, electronics, appliances, and expectation for use of things in the garage—paddle boards, kayaks, life vests, cornhole boards etc. Loved

The house has many areas for kids, teenagers and adults to enjoy and relax. The views are scenic and available from each window or porch. The common areas accommodate a large group, and the separate seating areas give space to have conversations with friends you hadn’t seen in years.

What a fabulous place. Absolutely beautiful large home with stunning harbor views out every window. We had a larger group and small kids and it gave us plenty of room to spread out and have privacy. Very well stocked house with the most complete furnishings of any vacation rental we’ve ever seen. Owner communication was fabulous and easy. Nice that this area is not overly touristy making it very relaxing. Nice little beach right across the road. We will be back for sure! Thanks Matt and company!

We arrived late afternoon on Christmas Day. The heat was not on, we had to wait for the house to warm up. We had a three month old baby with us, didn’t plan on walking into a cold house. We had no water pressure when we arrived, my guests were checking the property thinking a pipe had frozen and ruptured. Texted the owner, texted again, then called. He answered and said he would turn the water on for us!
Note: the loft is in one of the bedrooms with a very steep stairs.
We loved the house, it was clean, and very large. The scenery from the front and back was spectacular! We walked across the street to Glens Lobster everyday for lobster to cook at dinner. We had fun metal detecting the shoreline. Watching the tide was so amazing. Wonderful location.

A perfect property to reconnect with family and unwind. Water views from every room. It was spacious and thoughtfully designed. The elevator was a welcomed surprise for those of us with mobility issues, The house was wonderfully appointed, and the kitchen was well-stocked with everything needed to feed a large group. The many large stock pots and crackers were appreciated as we steamed the lobsters from Glen's. My son-in-law appreciated the office space, and the teenagers were delighted with the pool table. A highlight of the stay was rediscovering the Milky Way one clear evening from the rooftop deck. As for me...I just soaked up the view of the harbor and chilled out. My only negative would be the bed in the master bedroom. It was lumpy and uncomfortable! Other than that, I highly recommend the property.

Property was very clean and very well equipped. Every window is looking out at water. We did not need AC when we were there I would wonder about AC in middle of Summer. But lots of windows to open. Would stay there again.

The house is spacious with gorgeous water views from practically every window. If anything the listing pictures do not do the house justice. Plenty of comfortable cozy sitting spots, a great communal area and a fully stocked gym has just been added to the large, clean garage.
Attentive owner responds quickly to any questions. Would definitely return.

Perfect multi generation getaway home!
This house is very well laid out for a multi generation vacation. The location is stunning with water views out both gable ends. The downstairs game room/ bar area is a nice complement to the upstairs kitchen/dining/living area. Highly recommend this home!

Beautiful Home and Views
It was a very clean and comfortable home with beautiful views from all rooms. We very much enjoyed our stay. and would recommend this rental.
The only downside was early in the morning on our last day there was a storm and the power went out. The house has a generator, but it did not kick on, so we were scrambling to get things out of the refrigerator and get ready to leave the house that day.

Bucket List
Our time in Maine was fantastic. Being from the south and never have experienced this part of the country was definitely something to check off the list. If you have never been, you should do it the right way and stay at this property. The views are amazing. The communication with the property manager was very efficient and they respond in a timely manner. Would definitely recommend this place.

Refreshing break from the city
Our group came from a few different cities so picking a destination with nature and amazing views all around was what we wanted, and this property did not disappoint! We were able to relax and reset, and even make a day trip to Portland. I will definitely be recommending this property to friends and family in the future!

Picturesque Retreat on Bailey Island
Amazing time at this property. Watched lobster boats come and go from the front living room with morning coffee and enjoyed panoramic views of the rocky coast from the picture-frame kitchen windows and widow's walk. House is well equipped with kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, beach chairs, life jackets, etc. Local hiking trails were awesome for our four-legged friend. Owner was extremely friendly and easy to communicate with via text. Would definitely recommend.
