About this cabin rental
CLIFFSIDE HIDEAWAY (formerly known as Happy Bear Chalet) is a newer property that is family-oriented, comfortable, relaxing, fun, cozy, romantic, luxurious, WHEELCHAIR-FRIENDLY. It is ideally located for whatever adventure guests wish to undertake and enjoy! This is a NO SMOKING PROPERTY!!!!!
The SHORT, 1.3 MILE DRIVE up the mountain from the Gatlinburg Parkway to the property takes less than 5 minutes! The start of Downtown Gatlinburg is less than 2 miles away and Pigeon Forge is about a 5 mile drive.
Unlike many mountain properties that feel as if they are "on top of each other", Cliffside Hideaway is situated on over a half acre! The cabin can accommodate 1 – 8 guests. GUESTS ARE REQUIRED TO TRUTHFULLY STATE THE EXACT NUMBER OF PERSONS THAT WILL BE STAYING AT THE PROPERTY WHEN MAKING A RESERVATION!
Hand-scraped, hardwood floors and Pine ceilings and walls throughout the cabin set the tone at this relaxing retreat. Guests can show off their culinary skills in a well-equipped kitchen with all stainless steel appliance including a French-door refrigerator (with filtered water on the door and an ice maker), microwave, smooth-top range, dishwasher, pantry and a "coffee alcove". The granite counter tops and hand-glazed cabins complete the ensemble and invite any gourmet to create to his or her heart’s content. Any ""grill master" will also appreciate the main level Gas Grill where he or she can prepare steaks, burgers, chicken and more! There is also a picnic table for outdoor eating that is located on the covered, rear porch that is right off the kitchen and indoor dining areas.
There are NO STAIRS, STEPS or OBSTACLES from the driveway into the main level of the cabin where guests will find an inviting great room with a Gas Fireplace (available only from late Fall through Winter), a deluxe kitchen, dining area, two comfortable bedrooms, two bathrooms and rear covered porch.
Cliffside Hideaway is WHEELCHAIR FRIENDLY. The private, King Suite on the main level features wide doors and a bath with a 5' radius turn-around. This private bath also has a 4' x 4' shower with a wide shower door, a hand-held shower head, a portable shower seat and grab bars. The toilet is comfort-height and it too has a grab bar to assist those with special needs. The vanity is not ADA, but instead it is of a standard design. The other bedroom on the main level has a queen bed. The other bath has a tub/shower combo.
There are two powered-reclining love seats in the great room plus a manual-recliner.
The lower level features a Game Room where kids of all ages can enjoy a plethora of Board Games, Foosball or try their shills at the Shuffleboard Table! There is also a comfortable sectional sofa with two built-in recliners in the Game Room where guests can relax while watching a 65" 4-k TV or play one of more of over 120 video games on the Atari Flashback 8 Gold HD game system. The lower level also has a bathroom with a 4' x 4' shower, a laundry area (with full-size, washer & dryer) and a 24' x 12' bedroom with TWO Queen beds.
The pull of the mountains seem to invite guests to take in and enjoy the outdoors! Guests have two large, 20' x 10' covered rear porches where they can relax outside. One porch is located on the main level and the other on the lower level. They can also venture down to the patio level and enjoy the 3-4 person hot tub!
Guest can stay connected to the outside world with high-speed internet via a robust, wireless Gigabit router that supports multiple devices, and via cable TV through Charter Spectrum.
All guests at Cliffside Hideaway have FREE ACCESS to all three Chalet Village Owners Clubs, and FREE USE of their swimming pools, tennis courts, exercise equipment and other facilities during summer months!
NOTE: Clubhouses are ONLY OPEN DURING THE SUMMER. Clubhouses will open May 22, 2021, limit occupancy to 50%, and will keep exercise and game rooms closed until further notice due to Covid-19.

Nice cabin with lots of space and very clean

Had a great visit to Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountains. The house was convenient to all we did - zip-lining (Clinbworks is the best!), Dollywood, Anakeesta and everything in Gatlinburg. The house was great for our family of 6. Comfortable beds, great space for family and a fun game room! We even got to see a black bear behind the property one late afternoon.

Very nice place to stay - description is accurate. Handicapped accessibility is hard to find but this place was perfect. View was Ok. The whole place was very clean. Family loved all the games.

The roadway to the cabin is a little challenging, but the cabin itself was beautiful clean, spacious and the views from the decks are awesome. Everything you would need for a mountain vacation was available. It was handicap accessible on the top level and my mother throughly enjoyed herself and didnt want to leave when it was time to checkout.

Great location and very convenient to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. House had plenty of room for 2 adults and 4 kids (3 adult sized 13 yr olds and 1 11 yr old). House had room to spread out and relax between the 2 living areas and 2 deck areas. Check in / out process was very easy, and management was very responsive when we had an issue the Wi-Fi service and quickly corrected it. We really enjoyed staying here and would happily stay again.

Although it was a quick two day trip on a crowded holiday weekend, the cabin was one of the highlights of the trip. I highly recommend the cabin as it has great amenities.

One of the best places that I have stayed. The kids had their own bedroom, tv, bathroom, and games down stairs After a long drive, it was nice to come in, and have options to order food while the kids immediately found a lot of things to do. The cabin was clean, and nicely decorated with everything we needed. We definitely would come back.

Wonderful property!! Very well appointed and such beautiful location! We had a wonderful stay in this property with our kids. The downstairs area is a kids paradise. All the games and video games made the stay that much more fun. Would definitely stay here again!

Outside doesn’t look like a cabin with the vinyl siding. but inside is all about it!!! All age groups enjoyed the amenities. Game room was a hit and fixing our own meals to enjoy in living room area were huge hits. Excellent location right between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, so convenient to travel to either spots’ attractions. Had to use neighbor driveways to navigate parking and forgot to bring our own toilet tissue (as intro supply ran out quickly), these were only two cons. We would definitely stay here again.

Didn't realize how high in the mountains the propety was. It was hard navigating the roads as they are not wide for 2 cas coming and going parking is a bit dangerous as the home is right on a sharp turn and it is hard to see if someone is coming. At one point there were 2 cars racing up the road while we were gong down and it made us very nervous not to go down the cliff

Perfect size for group stay
The cabin was the right size for 2 families, total of 8. We used every inch of the cabin from group breakfast upstairs to late game nights downstairs. The games supplied were perfect. Plenty of kitchenware to use and couches were comfortable. The grill was on the small size for group of 8 but we could improvise.
Cons: We had an incident with the hot tub chlorine being too high that melted the vinyl off but maintenance quickly fixed it. Be careful to inspect it before your first use as the vinyl melted into my nieces hair!
Beds/Linens: To each their own I guess, the bed was hard for me but perfect for others. One thing we all agreed on was the sheets/comforters could use an upgrade!
Overall, lovely cabin and would definitely recommend/stay again.

Wonderful stay in the Smoky Mountains
We had a great week-long stay at the Sands’ cabin! The house was very clean and well-decorated, and no detail was left out. We all loved the private hot tub and all of the great games available in the basement. The downstairs bedroom was spacious and perfect for our girls. The beds were so comfortable! Better than our beds at home! The living room and kitchen space were gorgeous with large picture windows with great views of the mountains. The two decks were great places to watch the sunrise and enjoy our morning coffee. It was a spectacular stay and we were sad to leave!

Exactly as Advertised
Clean, well thought out, and beautiful home in the mountains. Great location nicely placed with easy access to GB, PF, and most importantly (in our opinion) the national park. Great house layout with wonderful little extras like motion lights near the trash, night lights in the bathrooms and kitchen. Kids loved the plethora of entertainment in the basement which was great post busy days of hiking, zip lining, and horseback riding and actually kept them off their own iPads! Owners were responsive via text and all instructions at house were clearly stated. The only part that was a challenge was the ride up and down the mountain each day as it’s a windy, narrow road but that too is clearly stated and unavoidable if you want the peace and privacy of being in the mountains. Would definitely return again!

Perfect Family Getaway
The cabin is beautiful and cozy. I could find nothing that was wrong and everything was perfect, just like the pictures, we were very impressed by how clean the property was. It was even a very nice gesture that upon entering they had stocked the entrance table with everything necessary to meet the sanitation and cleaning standards ... and we love that is pet friendly, since that was one of the determining reasons for choosing the cabin.
The owners (Steve) were very nice and friendly when they texted us and were easy to get in touch with if needed.
We really enjoyed cooking and dining on the balcony with the view and spending time together in the jacuzzi... My daughters love the hang out area with the games and my husband the fosstable... and the bedrooms and bathrooms were so beautiful. Kitchen is great and had everything you need. The incredible view of being in the mountains was amazing and beautiful. Its our first time in the mountains and we loved it.
The driveway had enough space to facilitate the entry and exit of our minivan. The location was good and you have easy access to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg were you can find everything like restaurants, groceries store, attractions, etc.
Absolutely no complaints, and we are planing to comeback here again on fall.
