Lovely small hotel in beautiful grounds. The restaurants, bar and lounges have been decorated to a high standard, and the courtyard is very nice to relax in the sunshine. What made it a wonderful stay is how exceptionally good the staff are; they are efficient and professional but at the same time very friendly.
The view from our room looking over the kitchen and ventilation tunnels was not good and so rather disappointing.

The hotel was in a good location near Norwich. It was set in beautiful gardens with a lovely seating area outside the bar area. The decor inside was very pleasing too. The staff were efficient, friendly and very helpful. The food in the restaurant was good.
We stayed on a half-board basis, which was good value for money, however, on booking, it was not made clear that an allowance of £60 was given towards dinner. This would only cover a main meal in the restaurant.

Gorgeous bedrooms and wood fired lounges to spend time in. Lovely grounds, and service was outstanding!
Nothing

The staff were welcoming and the atmosphere and ambience with the bar and bistro was lovely.

Staff were great
Lots of damp, food was mediocre for the price.

I travel a-lot and i have never stayed in a hotel that serve a fabulous food like this!
Food was definitely exceptional!
The staff was beyond amazing , specially Dash , he was really professional and helpful, and made my stay in the hotel worth it.
Unfortunately my room view was not that beautiful !
Also the room it self was not quiet , as it was next to the kitchen.

House beautifully decorated for Christmas. Fantastic staff. Received a very warm welcome. Large room with comfortable bed. Had a fabulous meal in the bistro. So much to like.

The lounge area was lovely with an open fire. The bistro food was delicious. We’d originally only planned to eat at the hotel for our first night, but after eating there, we decided to book the bistro for our second night.
The breakfast was good.
We asked for a quiet room and our request was fulfilled. The decoration was lovely.
Because our room was a long way down the corridor (as we’d asked for a quiet room), the hot water took a while to reach the shower. However, when the hot water did arrive, it was lovely and warm.

A real gem. For the price it’s amazing. Freshly cooked breakfast. Great restaurant. Yes it’s old but the owners have done a charming job of making is a pleasant stay. It was £100 cheaper than a typical chain but the quality of everything was superior.
Paint job in the corridors could have been improved.

Beautiful place and building
The boiler wasn’t working so our room was freezing cold.
I had contacted the hotel to say that I would be checking in later and wasn’t informed about the broken boiler so it was too late for me to get an alternative. No discount was offered or extra blankets. We were given one electric heater which did not remotely heat the room on what was the coldest day of the year. I basically begged for another heater and they reluctantly gave us another small heater which barely made any difference.
I had been informed by booking.com that the room would have a garden view- the view was of the car park. We were offered a free drink at the bar - which barely compensated for our discomfort. We payed extra for a larger room but with a bath and a view and because of the size of the room we were cold, so worse off for paying more.

Staff were excellent. So pleasant and authentic. Great food. Lovely traditional breakfast and Christmas dinner with all the trimmings was a hit! My colleague and I couldn’t get a taxi in the morning, so one of the team took us on the short trip. First class and above and beyond. Thank you so much x

The hotel is in a lovely setting and a great location. The breakfast is excellent and the staff lovely and friendly. Rooms are clean and comfortable.
The room was a little noisy being close to the entry hall doorway. As the boiler had failed the air conditioner was turned on to heat, but we were not supplied with the remote controller for it so were unable to regulate the temperature.

five of us stayed for my daughters graduation. At the very last minute i phoned them to say can we have one room as early check in which they obliged with no problems . We booked into the hotel restaurant for dinner at 9pm, the food service and drinks were excellent. we all had a wonderful time but a great breakfast the following morning. The hotel although in the country is near Norwich city centre/Uni and very near the Park and Ride.
No Black pudding on offer with the breakfast lol

Peaceful rural location but handy for main roads.
Lots of character.
Our evening meals demonstrated a very good standard of cooking.

first room offered was very small & overlooked the kitchen fans so managed to get moved to a better one at the other end of the building. After that it was a perfect stay and all of the staff were superb, as was the dining. Be aware that only Pizza is available Monday though, not bad but limited in choice.
initial shock of the first room and lack of food choices on the Monday.

Lovely building in a great setting, feels rural but very close to city. Staff are lovely, large room. Very brief stay for us but would go back
Slight sewage smell in bathroom, advised staff on leaving

Beautiful property set in stunning and extensive grounds - so pretty. The terrace where you could sit out and eat or have a few drinks was beautiful- a fab view and got to see little rabbits, birds and some muntjac deer. The leisure rooms in which you could sit and relax and enjoy a drink were beautifully decorated as was the main bistro restaurant and bar area.
The bedrooms were lovely, very comfy bed and nicely decorated and spacious.
Best thing was definitely the staff - we had the wonderful Michelle looking after us from night one and she couldn’t do enough - she was amazing and a total asset to the hotel - as were her lovely daughter Danielle and also Becky - they were a terrific team, super friendly and incredibly helpful. They made our stay.
The only small downside was the shower was a little temperamental with the temperature but the staff helped out and were very professional.
Also the tables at dinner were just a little too close - it made it slightly awkward for conversations but the staff and the food made up for that - food was fabulous and staff just brilliant.

few bumps but was nice overall.

Beautiful period house with lots of character and original features.
Just 1 mile from Caister St Edmund which is well worth visiting. The Roman administrative centre for Norfolk and Suffolk. Take a picnic if the weather is good.
Sewer smell in room. To be fair we were given a discount when this was mentioned.
Everything else was very nicely presented.

The hotel is in a lovely location just outside of the city centre. On arrival at the hotel we needed help with sorting out tickets and pre booking taxis to the event that we were attending. Ola was extremely helpful with giving us contact details for taxi companies and suggesting drop off/collection points. She was amazingly kind and printed off our event tickets!
This all contributed to a very smooth evening!
The bed was extremely comfortable and the room/bathroom were immaculate.
I'd definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area!

The beautiful room and wonderful food
Beeping phone( took it off the stand!)
The ornate bed side lamps looked lovely but weren't much use to read by!

The full English breakfast was cooked and presented to perfection, and the location was perfect for our planned Norfolk experience.
There was nothing to not like about this venue, Food was perfect. Window view overlooking gardens from room 3 was so nice, the wildlife in garden including deer was great to see., bed was very comfortable, Shower had plenty of space a big head, very hot water and fast. Room was very clean.

it was very clean, i liked all the different lounges and they had a good range of drinks at the bar.
the service at breakfast was awful and we had to ask more than once for things that had run out at the buffet.
the coffee was also horrible and it was £8.50 for an americano and a flat white!!!!!

The food and service were exceptional. The grounds are lovely and the location is quiet but not far from Norwich. Can’t fault the staff they were brilliant.
The steep stairs.

The staff were lovely! Our room was very comfortable and well fitted. The breakfast was excellent. All around a very enjoyable stay.

Very nice hotel, set in charming grounds only a short hop from the Norwich ring road and easily accessible if travelling on business. Very spacious room, spotlessly clean, with a massive bathroom, and comfy bed. Lovely friendly staff on reception and in the restaurant/bar, and a very good breakfast experience. The eggs benedict was particularly good. Refurbished communal areas and lounges have excellent decor, and it would make for a lovely location for a break as a couple or for a romantic getaway if paired with the fine dining experience on offer. Ideal for a relaxing stay as whisper quiet once everyone has gone to bed. Even the bits I thought could be improved are nitpicking as the hotel is aiming for a really high standard, and is almost there. I will be staying again.
Though the room was well appointed, it was as if it was only 80% of where it needed to be to meet the standards of decor elsewhere in the hotel e.g. wires trailing down from TV which was off kilter on the wall, old air conditioning unit in ceiling surrounded by cracks, shabby paintwork on ceiling borders, no coffee machine in room, etc. While this is picking hairs - they are the small things that set apart a top hotel from a reasonable one (even a Premier Inn has a coffee machine these days). Heating was also a problem one night, easily fixed, but others may have complained. The suites at the top of the main staircase would benefit from new doors as they suffer from noise from the main hallway (which is limited to when people pass through and is not a problem unless you are getting a very early night) as doors have sizeable gaps underneath. Finally, the prices in the bar and restaurant are slightly over the top for the casual or work traveller. £6.50 for a pint, and not much on the dinner menu under £20 means business travellers are likely to go elsewhere to eat as I did - though many non-business guests were happy to partake.
