About this cabin rental
Here, you will find all of the coziness desired for your mountain getaway with lake views from every room.. You'll love the "Bunk Burrow" so the kids can enjoy their own space while the big kids enjoy the "Outlaw Saloon" complete with ping pong, bar, sitting area, and 2 TVs. Sit on the wrap around big deck where you can watch for deer, elk, and wild horses or simply relax in the indoor hot tub. Ski Apache is only 30 minutes away!
While we aren't in the area directly, we are always available by phone, text, or AirBNB messaging app. If you need anything at all during your stay, we have our property liaison in the area who we will contact and they will be happy to help.
Found in the Alto Lakes neighborhood, this cabin is beautifully built into the nature around it and conveniently located off of a main road. Meaning you get the peacefulness of a mountain getaway and ease of access during difficult weather. The neighborhood is aptly names Alto Lakes since these homes have beautiful views of Alto Lake!
There is plenty of parking for four vehicles in the two driveways on the property. One cement parking slab on the side of the house and a gravel driveway directly in front of the house. Please do not enter/exit from the east side of the horseshoe drive as it is very steep and you could get stuck.
Upon arrival, you'll see the big deck staircase leading to the main floor.
Main Floor:
Through that front door, you'll enter the "Great Room" and it's not hard to figure out why we call it that. In this large, wooden, octagonal room, you'll find your formal dining table for 12, a sitting area in front of the wood burning fireplace, a living area with a large Smart TV, and large circular table fit for casual dining and game play. This room is where all of the mountain memories can be made.
The rest of the house is an off shoot of the great room. The full kitchen is equipped with all that you will need to make a homemade meal. A Keurig will provide either single cup or full pot coffee your brisk mountain mornings and the updated appliances will still give you the comfort of being in the big city.
The King Suite is located on the northern end of the house with a private bathroom equipped with an oversized bathtub with jets. Just like all of the rooms on the upper floor, it also has private sliding doors to the deck and a view of the lake.
The other two rooms on this floor can be found down the hallway attached to the Great Room. The first is known as the "Blue Room" and second is the "Green Room". We worked very hard on those names! Each has a king-sized bed and large, private sliding doors to access the big deck. And of course, lake views!
The full bathroom is located at the end of the hallway.
The other room attached to the Great Room, and perhaps the most important room, is the "Outlaw Saloon". This room is equipped with a bar and seating area in front of 2 large, flat screen TVs. A convenient half bathroom is also found directly off of the saloon.
In case you wondered, "why is it called the Outlaw Saloon?" Glad you asked! Well, one owner of the home can actually trace their lineage directly back to the Sundance Kid while another owner has family that was in Pancho Villa's gang! We are good people though, we promise! So we figured, we all have a little outlaw in us and this the place for us to let our wild west side shine!
Downstairs:
Down the stairs found off the Great Room, you'll find a full bathroom with a bedroom door on either side.
The room to the right is the Queen suite. While this room has a smaller bed than the others, it also features a wonderful sleep number mattress and sitting/working area. Did you bring the fluffy kiddos with you? This is the room for you. With a door leading directly outside, it's has easy access for walks in the wilderness and also features a built in private dog suite complete with bed, blankets, and bowls.
The next room is the Bunk Burrow equipped whichis two connected bedrooms with two bunk beds (3 twin, 1 double) and an on-suite entertainment area including bean bag chairs, flat screen tv, gaming system, and an arcade style games. The room has toys, books, and games for almost all ages!
Off the Bunk Burrow, you'll find two more rooms. The first is the laundry room where you will have access to a full-sized front loader washer and dryer. There is also an ironing board and iron for convenience (although we aren't too picky up here in the mountains).
The last and final room can be accessed from both the laundry room and outside door at the base of the big deck stairs (just around the corner). This door is kept locked with a keypad lock (Code 2070) for child safety. This room holds the indoor hot tub. All instructions and rules are posted for ease of use.
Arriving to the Big Deck Cabin you'll find parking either on the driveway to the left of the home up the incline or the gravel driveway in front of the house. There is a four car maximum parking.
If you are looking for a close meal, La Sierra restaurant is walking distance while Alto Cafe is just a quick 5 minute drive.
Alto Lake & Recreation Area is just a 3 minutes drive for access to picnic areas, fishing, kayaking, and more.
Located at the base of the mountain, it is less than a 30 minute drive to Ski Apache and only a half a mile to Ruidoso Winter Park!
Downtown Ruidoso is only 15 minutes away where you can find great shopping, culture, and local eateries.

We would highly recommend this wonderful home across from Alto Lake with plenty of room for large groups! Kitchen well stocked, very comfortable beds and bedding, entertainment for teens and smaller children too. Watch the wildlife, fish in the lake, hike the trails. If you have any issues they will be promptly taken care of by very attentive hosts.

We travel to Ruidoso 2-3 times per year. This cabin has the best views that weve seen. Very spacious!!!! A little disappointed in the cleanliness of the property considering the fee you pay. We had to re-wash most of the dishes because of coffee and food staining, and in looking for a lost phone, underneath the couch cushions was a lot of old food crumbs and Q-tips. They only had two towels per bathroom so I recommend bringing your own towels for the hot tub.
