This cabin feels secluded but you are still minutes away from restaurants & grocery store. It was the perfect place for my family with young children to stay. I would book it again!

Close to Durango, this is a quiet spot in the trees.

This is a beautiful property in a fairly secluded area but only five minutes from town. The perfect place for our weekend family time!

We had a great time at the cabin. Not only were we able to be close to fly fishing and hiking, but we had plenty of time to just do nothing. The cabin is nestled in the trees. Every morning we awoke to songbirds. It was truly a blessing for our family and a peaceful time.

Quiet, beautiful cabin nestled in the woods! Loved the porch and the hummingbirds that greeted us each morning and evening. Would definitely stay here again!

Our second year to come here. It’s that good.

Wonderful property off the beaten path. It’s in a beautiful setting with lots of privacy in the lovely Colorado pines. It was well stocked with a very comfy bed. Conveniently located between Durango and Pagosa Springs, you can quickly get to either location. We were lucky enough to wake up to a fresh snowfall in March! Overall I’d give it two thumbs up.

We booked this cabin for our marriage and we got everything we hoped for. Nestled in the woods with tons of breathtaking views and wildlife. Couldn't have picked a better spot. Hospitality was second to none.

We had an amazing time enjoying the cabin and mountains in the snow. Even with the cold the Cabin was so warm and cozy. It is extremely clean and beautiful to rest and relax. It was our second time to rest and refresh. (The first time was in the summer.) It just beautiful both times but watching the snow fall and the deer was so peaceful. The cabin is also surrounded by forest and you feel like you are away from civilization but 5 minutes to the grocery store, restaurants and other stores. Thank you so much to James and Connie Vaughn for your hospitality. We can't wait to come again.

Loved the beautiful peaceful location at the edge of the San Juan National Forest! Stayed with my husband and brother over Thanksgiving weekend. We were able to cook lots of delicious food in the well-stocked kitchen and were super cozy during the first big snowstorm of the year. James was a wonderful host and made sure we had everything we needed. We hope to stay again, we have family nearby and this was the perfect spot to stay. Thanks!

The cabin was a perfect fit! It was clean, well maintained and very comfortable. The kitchen was easy to cook in and fully stocked with pots, pans, dishes, utensils, etc. We had trouble with the TV because the signal was weak but decided to enjoy a TV free week which turned out to be extremely peaceful!
Thank you James! Your cabin is perfect!

The place was beautiful! We were on the go but it would be a great place to stay & escape for a few days or a week! James was great with communication & a great host. If we’re in the Durango area again, this will be our pick if it’s available.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Little Ranch! The cabin was PERFECT for us! It’s a beautiful location, tucked away in the woods but easy to get to nearby attractions. James was a great host, responding quickly to any questions and gave great recommendations for the area. The Durango train ride to Silverton was truly fantastic and we had fun exploring the local national parks very close by as well as a little hiking around the cabin itself. We ate breakfast everyday on the peaceful porch as we watched hummingbirds. Bedding and towels are of good quality, kitchen is stocked nicely. Everything was incredibly clean and well thought out. Finding the place was easy too and there is a local grocery nearby. James has set up a wonderful retreat. We will definitely stay here again when we’re in the area.

This cabin was everything we wanted for our first trip to CO! The cabin was clean and furnished nicely. There was plenty of space for our family of 5. The kids enjoyed the loft space and the owner had provided hammocks on the property. We spent cool mornings on the porch with the gas fire pit. The property backs up to the San Juan National forest and we enjoyed hiking directly from the cabin. The cabin is about 30 minutes from Durango so we had the solitude but were able to commute to Durango for activities. We would happily rent this cabin again!

The beautiful scenic drive was just the beginning of our amazing stay! I highly recommend the Million Dollar Highway! We walked into the cabin and you would have thought that you were the very first guest. The adorable guest book would confirm that many families have enjoyed a stay. The cabin is SO clean and modern with a rustic feel. The owners stocked the kitchen and bathroom with everything you could need. My husband, myself and our three daughters were so comfortable here. Everyone got a great nights rest in the super cozy beds and fresh mountain air. The cabin was definitely a highlight of our trip from Michigan to Colorado! We will certainly be back again!!

This cabin was so nice & peaceful. We did the Narrow Gauge train ride one day, went to Mesa verde the next & then to Chimney Rock. It was so nice to come in each evening & enjoy the peace & quiet & watch p on nature.
The cabin was very nice & clean. Very well appointed. You can tell the owner put a lot of thought into it. I think it is only a couple of years old.
Definitely recommend!!!

Stayed 4 nights, About 1.5 miles from HWY 160, Clean, comfortable, extra books, some quirks, but nice enough. Wheelchair ramp blocked by construction. Very hilly, but plenty of nearby mountains and trails. Nearby oil derick smelled of propane fumes, maybe? Nice BR1 downstairs, and roomy BR2 upstairs. Bayfield has nice stores and restaurants for a small town. Price right.

Our family was so pleased with our stay here. We were looking for a place in between Durango and Pagosa Springs and this was the perfect location, existing just outside Bayfield. The best feature of this place is that it is so private. We are a family with young kids and it was so nice to have privacy and so much space for the kids to play outside. The cabin is so perfect, with all the amenities anyone would need. We were fortunate to go when it was snowing, making a fire every night, with the kids hanging out with no electronics. I plan to try to book this location again in the future. I assure you will be more than satisfied with your stay here.

This place was unbelievable!!!
My wife and I stayed 4 days and it was wonderful, we saw a 10 point buck sneaking up the hill at night. It was extremely clean looked like we're the first visitors but we read a book of great reviews, would highly recommend this place.

Delightful stay situated between Durango and Pagosa Springs. My family had a delightful time and enjoyed the secluded wooded setting and easy access to regional sites of interest such as Mesa Verde and Chimney Rock. Would stay again. Very easy to communicate with host. New, clean, well appointed cabin.

This is a beautiful property and fun to explore. We loved sitting on the porch and relaxing. We spent most of our time in Durango, but loved returning here each day. It is a little mountain oasis!

We throughly enjoyed our stay at the Little Cabin. We normally stay in Durango and it was a nice change to be away from the city. Beautiful views, fun nature walks and the cabin has everything you need.

Relaxing Rural Retreat
It’s nice to sit with quietness. Watched the hummingbirds… quite a few. Watched deer from the balcony one morning. All amenities listed worked as expected. Comfortable. The technology / codes to gain access were seamless.

Quiet cabin in the trees
Quiet and beautiful cabin in the woods. Hiking in San Juan national forest next door. Convenient enough to Durango for food, train, and shopping. Highly recommend this cabin.

Perfectly peaceful getaway.
My wife and I both loved the seclusion and peacefulness of this little hideaway cabin. It wasn’t even that far from town but most of the time it felt like it was deep in the woods. We loved that because when we go to the mountains we try our best to have peace and quiet away from crowds and we definitely got that here. The one down side was probably that we didn’t get to see any wildlife around the cabin.
The kitchen seemed to be well stocked with everything we needed for our week so that was nice. If someone had stayed with us in the upstairs loft then they probably would have benefited from someplace to put their clothes.
James was very responsive when we did reach out to him.
We’ll do our best to come back again to this gem of a cabin.
Thanks for sharing,
Kelly Northcott

This was an adorable cabin away from any commotion. The spot was perfect for a quiet stay. We were only there two nights but would stay again if we were to return. The property manager was very responsive. We even had a visit from his daughter to let us know they had seen a bear on the property. I was thankful for that! (They did say this was the first bear they had seen in 4 yrs so don’t let that keep you from staying.) There were deer who visited early in the morning. Definitely a nice place to recharge. Durango is close by so it’s great if you are coming to do the Silverton Train. We did that and also went white water rafting and had a blast.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. After busy days in Durango, it was the perfect place to come back to and relax. The cabin was spotless, and had all the amenities one might need. Our kids (5 & 7) loved their “attic” room as well as running around outside. We didn’t have enough time to fully explore the trails on the property or nearby, but next time we come back to the area we will definitely reserve the cabin again.
