About this house rental

An iconic period building sitting right on the sea front at Cromer enjoying the most sublime views of the sea and pier from all angles and every room. Why not treat yourself to a truly unique coastal holiday at the fabulous Boycott House, and enjoy falling asleep to the sound of the waves?

This striking property, originally known as The Bath House, was built in 1814 and first opened as a reading room but gained greatest fame as a retreat for wealthy Victorians to ‘take the waters' away from public gaze. Its chequered past has seen it converted into a private residence in 1836, then a hotel in 1872, back into a single residence in the 1900s, and finally re-invented in 2020 to offer superb holiday accommodation. Boycott House is a two storey semi-detached house sitting at the end of the original building. On the ground floor, the sitting room is flooded with light from the fully glazed frontage giving open views to the sea beyond and has a modern Morso wood burning stove to light and cosy up beside in the winter months. The funky open-plan kitchen and dining space lies behind the sitting room with a window and glazed door to the side of the room looking along the promenade to the sea and the pier, and features a Kitchen Haus fitted kitchen and Bosch twin oven (steam and fan as used on Bake Off!). Upstairs, on the first floor, are two fabulous, spacious bedroom suites. The master bedroom, with a discreetly tucked away shower room, features a super-king size bed and a commanding view over the sea from the bay fronted windows. Enjoy it to the max from the curved window seat, or indeed the comfortable bed! The second bedroom, with king-size or twin option, is to the rear of the house and, with windows to the side, enjoys its own lovely views. The very grand en-suite with limestone floor not only has a glorious Chadder chariot slipper bath on a metal plinth, but a separate shower enclosure too. Guests have the benefit of one parking space on The Promenade immediately adjacent to the house (a parking permit is provided).

Within walking distance of the the town's many local amenities, including some cool new additions to the Cromer café scene; The Gangway, a charming micro pub serving craft beers, cocktails and nibbles; a new Grey Seal Coffee shop serving fresh locally roasted coffee; and Hatters Tea Room with their own brand loose leaf tea. No 1, TV chef Galton Blackiston's renowned fish and chip emporium sits at the end of the upper pier too. Enjoy!

Boycott House week break
Boycott House week break
Excellent location right on the promenade and parking by the front door. The house and bathrooms were clean. Unusual layout, quite a few steps to haul your luggage up to the bedrooms. Main bathroom very large but unusual not to have a door with privacy glass. Bed was comfy. Few pointers to note: floorboards very noisy in main bedroom from next door property, so not ideal if children staying next door and up early! Could do with some clothes hooks in the ensuite. The drain in the ensuite shower gets blocked very easily and floods the bathroom, I had to clean this out myself. The main bedroom windows don't have stops on them, so can be fully opened which could be a hazard for falling out especially if you have young children. Main bathroom hand towel ring is not fitted properly and falling off. The patio area outside the kitchen is a bit of an eyesore. We had problems with the main front door lock, at one point we couldn't get out so had to use the top door. The doors are quite old and not very security safe, would have been nice to have a safe. The kitchen is nice, large table. I don't think the hob and ovens had been used as they appeared brand new. Took me time to figure out how to work them as we're not used to an induction hob, would have been helpful to have some instructions. All in all though we enjoyed our stay, and would recommend to others.

A lovely stay in Cromer
A lovely stay in Cromer
It was a lovely place to stay for a week, great location and easy to park. The property was very well kitted out and all the restaurants and cafe are a short walk away. Enjoyed the view from the main bedroom and Cromer is a nice place to spend a week. Especially recommend a visit to Blickling Hall. Only thing we couldn’t get to work was the electric hob but maybe that was simply my own incompetence with electric devices

Beautiful house in beautiful location
Beautiful house in beautiful location
Beautiful house, beautifully furnished and gorgeous spot. However….TV didn’t work, wasted a morning of our stay while engineer tried to fix it without success, he arrived 40 minutes late too. A wobbly toilet in front bedroom (reported), loose threshold in front bathroom too. There were about 5 dead big flies on the front bedroom window sill…. Over zealous parking wardens! (We received 2 parking tickets - first whilst we went indoors to fetch permit, second because we weren’t parked in bay correctly which we couldn’t because TV repair chap was parked in front of house!) House is very comfortable and well equipped - beautiful oven, though difficult to operate even with a manual. No oven gloves which is not safe. An instruction manual that has all the instructions in one place would be very helpful! Never been to a holiday home that doesn’t have one! So coffee machine (which is temperamental), dishwasher, heating we had to work out. The heater in the front bedroom is not controllable so we were boiling hot on first night then had to work out how to turn the heating for the whole house off for subsequent nights. However beds were beautifully comfortable with lovely bed linen and pillows. Showers and gorgeous bath were all lovely too. It is a lovely place for a break. Some teething problems to resolve
