The Stow Horse Fair is held twice a year, typically on the Thursday closest to 12th May and the Thursday closest to 24th October, however, we would recommend checking the exact date ahead of placing your booking. This is a traditional fair for gypsies and travelling people to meet up and trade which dates back to 1476 when its Charter was granted. Stow is very busy for a day or two before and after each fair, and a number of shops, pubs and restaurants are closed. Whilst many visitors enjoy the colour and vibrancy associated with the fairs, other visitors prefer to avoid Stow on these dates

Our 3rd or possibly 4th stay in this wonderful cottage. It’s absolutely perfect for a relaxing Cotswolds Stay. Main square in Stow is a couple of minutes walk and the best Cotswolds Restaurant- The Old Butcher’s - directly opposite the cottage! We’ll be back. The Newbold family from Coventry

Bag End is an amazing English cottage. Perfect location and great gardens. It was perfect for our family holiday. Very clean and equipped with everything you need for our stay. Staycotswold made it very easy to book and answered any questions. They returned emails quickly. Stow-on-the-Wold is the best village. Coffee shops, restaurants, pubs, shopping is steps away. The best fish and chips is two doors down. This cottage was a highlight of our holiday. Definitely would stay here again and highly recommend.

Bag End and Peopercorn Cottage was just as I dreamed it would be- charming, picturesque and lovely. We spent afternoons hanging out in the property’s garden that was a picture perfect setting for breakfasts, take aways, and wine. Stow on the Wold is a central location where there are many fine choices for pubs, shopping and day trips to Stratford Upon Avon, Upper and Lower Slaughter, Bourton on the Water, and country walks. People were actually taking pictures on the steps to this cottage because it is so charming

We had a wonderful family weekend away and used both Bag End and Peppercorn as we were 3 couples and a baby. Overall we loved the place. The location is wonderful and we felt warm and cosy. Our only comments would be that Peppercorn does not have an extractor fan in the bathroom which is an issue because the wardrobes are in there and my clothes were feeling damp after 2 days. Also more glassware is needed as there are only 4 champagne glasses and we had a celebration evening in the cottage and not enough glasses for the 6 of us.

We’ve just had a lovely 3 nights at Bag End, a great venue for our family to meet up and enjoy some time in Stow.
The property is plenty big enough to accommodate a family group and to allow some space for privacy too.
We enjoyed the garden and the early autumn sunshine and found plenty of walks from the door.
Would thoroughly recommend.

Our group of 5 had a delightful stay at Bag End/Peppercorn. My husband and I were in the little cottage out back. We were surprised to find a lovely, quintessential English garden and courtyard with big table and chairs joining the two cottages. The location was perfect! Right off the Main Street, just steps from wherever we wanted to go in town. Communication was very good. The manager allowed us an extra towel which was a big help for a week-long stay. I recommend this property!

Stayed in Bag End and Peppercorn cottage for 6 days as a family of 4 with our dog. The cottage is in the perfect location, literally 1-min walk to town and access to shops, cafes and restaurants. Bag end cottage was perfect for us, lots of dining space, cosy living room and good sized bedrooms. We also made use of Peppercorn cottage which is a lovely cottage annexe across a beautiful courtyard and was perfect for one of the family to get away with her own space. The courtyard also has a lovely dining area, although we only used it once with some late evening sun.
Owners provided everything we needed with washing and drying facilities, towels etc..good Wi-Fi as well which is particularly important for the kids !
Stow is a busy town and parking was tricky sometimes but we always managed to get a space pretty close to the cottage. But it is a lovely town with great facilities and great choice of places to eat and drink with some lovely boutique shops.
Owners were great, particularly after a mishap we had with one of the keys and would definitely recommend the cottage for a stay in Stow.

We had the best stay at Bag End and Peppercorn cottage! The location was amazing not only in Stow but, a short drive all around the Cotswolds. The garden was such a treat and I could have stayed in the atrium room all day. Great hosts and everything we could have asked for! Highly recommend!

An outstanding property. Very charming and in a great location. Would definitely return. The flowers were in bloom in the courtyard and my family, and I hung out there frequently. Sitting back there made you feel like you were in your own world. Really nice place.

Both Bag End cottage and Peppercorn cottage are both delightful and well appointed, and we very much enjoyed out stay. The garden, too is very attractive. It was good to have the use of a barbecue, but we couldn't n find any BBQ utensils so had to use shorter-handled, smaller ones from the kitchen. Also with regard to cooking,,it took some time to work out how to get the gas hobs to work, but we managed, with perseverance. It was quite difficult to get the lock to the outer door of the conservatory to engage, but as the garden is so secure it was only a problem when leaving. However, these are only minor quibbles and they did not detract from our enjoyment of staying in the cottages..

Ideally situated in Stow and very close to nearby villages like Kingham .

These two cottages are simply stunning and exactly as pictured. We had a magical time sitting in the conservatory with coffee in the morning/wine at night, and that garden in full bloom was heavenly!
The back cottage with the loft was particularly charming. It felt like we had traveled back into a time gone by…
The location in town was also perfect, near the pubs and great restaurants, and Stow is a perfect central location of explore the Cotswolds in general.
My whole family was high fiving me for finding this gem 😀

Wonderful Stay in the Cottages
My wife and I, our two adult children and our son's girlfriend had a wonderful stay in Bag End and Peppercorn cottages. There were as quaint as advertised. The location right in the middle of Stow-in-the-Wold was excellent and the gardens between the cottages were incredibly picturesque. We wished the weather would have been a touch warmer at the end of May but that is England. The wrought iron spiral staircase to the bedroom in Peppercorn is pretty tight, but that is part of the charm. We were only there for two nights and did not cook in but the kitchen appeared fully functional. We would stay there again.

Lovely stay
Booked last minute for a long weekend. The cottage was clean and absolutely lovely, great location in the centre of town. Beautiful garden and I can see how the two properties can work for 6 people, although we didn’t use peppercorn cottage. A few minor considerations it’s an old house with uneven floors and wouldn’t suit anyone who’d struggle with this, there were a few things that could do with an update, the kitchen is showing wear and tear as is some of the furniture, however not so bad that I wouldn’t visit again. The property is dog friendly and very secure for your pooch. Really enjoyed our stay and dealing with the staff who were very friendly and helpful pre stay.
