We have stayed at the Blue Waves Overlook house a number of times in recent years and have always found it to be a comfortable, cozy vacation home! It is conveniently located for exploring the central Oregon Coast (between Lincoln City and Florence). Love sitting on the outside, upstairs deck watching the waves and the changing moods of the ocean. Love the easy access to the trail that leads down to the beach just north of Yaquina Head (just a few minutes away). Staying at this house has deepened my love and affection for the Oregon Coast!

Perfect location. We saw the most beautiful Oregon coast sunset off the porch! Very cozy. Everything we needed

We loved this house so much last year that we booked it again and had a wonderful stay this year as well. It's very clean and has a beautiful ocean view.

5 mins walking through forest takes you to quite beach. Clean house, no pet smell, 2 cars garage, quiet neighborhood, clean hot tub, nice amenities; 2nd bathroom is on the lower level. Nice ocean view from the upper deck.

Nice home, clean, seems to be set up to accommodate more than 4. We enjoyed the hot tub and upstairs. We would’ve enjoyed the fireplace if wood was available on property. The oven was a little weird but functional. Hot tub maybe could use a retractable awning to use in the rain, and maybe some better lighting. Beach access was awesome but not accessible for elderly or little kids. Plenty of towels, blankets, pots and pans and dishes. Overall, a great stay!!

Thank you for a great stay. I needed this down time & the stay was awesome. Cute house with lots of spaces to be together or alone.

This house was so great. It was clean and had more than enough kitchen and bathroom amenities. The hot tub was super easy to use and private. The neighborhood was very quiet. We loved the trail to the beach. I 100% recommend this house!

I loved the view of the ocean from the living room. The kitchen had everything we needed and the place was very clean.

The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. We really liked the trail down to the beach, which had a wonderful view of the Yaquina lightouse. I would recommend that the owners add a light under the deck where the front gate is - it is very dark.

We really enjoyed our stay. House was big, liked having two levels. Fenced backyard was awesome for pup- and the doggie door. Really enjoyed the hot tub. Nice and clean. Kitchen was funky but cool. View from deck was amazing. Didn’t take trail to beach- but the trail was close, which was nice.

Comfortable clean. Well outfitted and good condition. Wonderful beach walk. Quiet setting

The loudest noise we heard all weekend was the ocean. We live in the noisy city and greatly appreciate having zero noise pollution. The view from the living room and front deck is worth a million dollars. Stars are bright at night too. We stayed with our dog and she was totally at home - completely safe fenced backyard - private to boot.

Great view from the nice deck and we saw several Whales! As we walked in there was a nice big bed for the dog. Fun atmosphere. Quiet neighborhood.

We stayed 2 nights before taking our adult kids back to college. The house had everything we needed. 2 TV areas, games, plenty of space, a great yard for the dog. Kitchen was stocked and would be great for a week. We didn't cook because it was a short trip. I was worried from past reviews about the cleanliness as I am really picky. The place was immaculate. Very clean and comfortable. Sunsets from the deck are amazing. We all enjoyed the hot tub each night. The neighborhood is quiet and walkable. The beach is easily accessible by trail and private. We walked the beach in the mornings. Whales were often spotted on the horizon. The owners went out of their way to make this the perfect rental. We will be back!

My family and I stayed at this property for a portion of our vacation to Oregon. The house was very nice especially the living room, the kitchen was well stocked with items to cook, and there was a beautiful view of the ocean from the front balcony. Some things were a little out of date or broken but nothing that deterred our stay (kitchen cabinets, fridge, board games). There are no TVs in the bedrooms so if you are a TV watcher to fall asleep you may want to make sure to make other arrangements (my husband and I used our laptop to watch Hulu at night). Overall, we would recommend this rental there are a lot of things to do and see within driving distance and the house itself was comfortable and accommodating.

This house was amazing! We had everything thing we needed for a home away from home. So clean and had all amenities. Loved the hot tub and view of the ocean. We will definitely be staying again.

My family and i all loved staying here. The house is comfortable and my dog loved having a private fenced yard a short walk to the beach. The hot tub was a great way to wind down after exploring the area.

We really enjoyed this property. We met up with some friends and had such a great time hanging out, watching the waves, walking to the beach and just feeling the ocean breezes through the house. We would recommend this place and would return again!

We very much enjoyed this house and the proximity to a very quiet beach. We even saw whales from the balcony! We were 2 couples sharing the house as well as all working from the home during the week. None of us had problems with the WiFi. The only disappointment was the hot tub, which unfortunately didn’t work and required parts to fix. Because Vacassa wasn’t able to fix it during our stay, they said they would reimburse us the hot tub use and cleaning fees. The reason for the 4 stars is that the lower level of the house did smell a bit musty, but we were ok with it and all agreed that we would return to this house.

A good landing point near Newport. Great views of the ocean from the deck (it didn’t have the patio furniture as pictured). We even saw a whale. It was a short walk down the hill to a pretty secluded beach. Our dog enjoyed having a fenced in yard. My only complaint was there were only two glass wine glasses (I don’t like drinking good wine out of plastic)
10.0
We enjoyed our stay in Newport very much. The property was clean and I liked the privacy of being tucked back in the neighborhood. The deck had amazing views of the ocean and we saw whales. The trailhead to the beach was just a few feet away. The kitchen had all the utensils to cook and bake. This was very convenient. The only complaint is the door is difficult to open. I could hear the lock engage after the code was put in. I think it was sticking and the door wouldn't always open. This was frustrating .

Good layout, nicely stocked house with a great view. The hot tub made it extra fun. Easy place to stay

We really enjoyed the ocean view from the deck. It was beautiful! Beach access was close, but the trail down to the beach was a little hard to get down. The beach was worth the walk though! We would absolutely stay here again!
6.0
great potential, but with a few reasons we probably wouldn’t rent it again
Pros:
-The location is wonderful. There’s a nice short hike down to the beach and it’s a short walk to the tide pools of starfish cove.
-the back yard is nice and private and fully fenced
-the garage is large and there is plenty of space to park in the driveway
-the neighborhood is nice and quiet
-the place has a cute retro-ish feel to the decor
-the main living space upstairs has a nice layout for hanging out and the sofas are comfy
-the place stayed nice and cozy and warm even when it was really cold and stormy outside
-we didn’t watch any dvds, but the dvd selection in the downstairs living room looks great for action/adventure/sci fi lovers
-the view from the upstairs living room is great
-the kitchen was well-stocked with pots and pans, utensils, and dishes
-there were plenty of towels and even some toiletries
Cons:
-there was a bit of a musty/smoky/dog pee smell to the living room and one of the bedrooms
-the sheets were thin and scratchy
-the doors were very squeaky
-we saw a very large sewer roach climbing the stairs and then saw another smaller cockroach on the ceiling. There were also several spiders during our 3 night stay. Spiders are creepy, but acceptable, but roaches are super gross. We didn’t see any evidence of a big roach infestation in the cupboards or anything, so hopefully the two we did see were just random creepers.
-there were no back up trash bags. It would have been nice to have an extra trash bag available if the kitchen trash filled up.
-the front door is a bit finicky to open
-a lot of the windows in the place don’t open because a second outer pane of glass that doesn’t open has been added to the existing windows. It makes it so you can’t get very good airflow through the place
- the refrigerator is loud, which can be annoying if you’re sleeping in the bedroom right next to the kitchen
-both toilet handles have to be jiggled to get them to stop running forever
-my husband said the bathtub was weirdly very slippery. He’s in his 40s and in good shape with no balance issues, so it’s odd for a bathtub to be slippery enough to worry him. If you have balance issues, it might be better to use the downstairs shower instead. It was not slippery.

Fix it
Black mold in window sills. Hair in corners of bathroom floors. Hairs in bath towels. Green and white molds growing inside of grill. I could go on but that feels like enough to start improvement.

Nice walk to the beach. Very roomy, had a wonderful weekend with the family.

Great house, clean and bright
Wonderful stay. We enjoyed the views of the water and the big windows brought sunlight throughout the living area. Kitchen had everything we needed. We were able to make do just fine with the smaller second oven that worked great for muffins, sheet pan roasted veggies, etc. We were very happy there was a rice cooker and slow cooker, too. We enjoyed the beautiful walk down to the beach through the trees. Our elementary kids had no trouble with the hike, although it was a bit tricky for an older adult with knee troubles. We would stay again in a heartbeat.
