Packing service and the location of the hotel were so great! But the room and bathroom were a bit too small! Bedding also just okay. air conditioning some rooms work and some doesn’t. I stayed 4 nights in 3 different rooms throughout 2 weeks as we were driving South and north and returning back to Lisbon.

The hotel is beautiful, and the service was great. The buffet breakfasts were delicious, and the dining room was elegant. Most evenings from 7 to 8, the hotel had a pianist playing. It was lovely sitting in the lobby and listening to the music while enjoying a cocktail. The concierge was extremely helpful with sights to see, getting around the city, restaurant recommendations, and arranging the taxi to the airport.

From the moment we arrived when the doorman rushed to take our cases to the helpful explanation fo teh facilities ofg our room, service throughout was excellent. Facilities were great and breakfast was amongst the best we have had.

This hotel was amazing. Staff were friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was fantastic. The location is perfect. You can walk anywhere. The con shares gave us recommendations for dinner and provided helpful suggestions we would give this hotel an 11/10

We love the hotel. The staff is super attentive. It was just a super experience. They upgraded us without asking. Brought treats and a bottle of champagne for my husband’s birthday. If we end up in Lisbon again we will definitely stay at Avenida. Thank you.

It's a classic hotel, older than 100 yrs, with classical decor. The location is great, and the breakfast place makes you feel like a king. Once you learn that this hotel used to be THE meeting place of numerous spies during WW II, the hotel feels even more special.

This hotel is in the heart of a restaurant area with outdoor cafe dining options. It is walkable to the castle. The hop on hop off bus is just less than a block away. Exit the hotel to the left and a few blocks up you have open market shopping for different local things and on the other side of the street is high end shops (LV, Prada, Gucci). The hotel has great ac and good size rooms, a nice bar which also serves food, Starbucks is right next door but the hotel also has a fanatic breakfast buffet. Very nice hotel would definitely stay in this place again.

I was beyond impressed with the facility, location but above all, the staff. The personnel was so kind, attentive and professional that this factor alone made my stay very enjoyable and pleasant. Coming back at night after a long walk around the city to sit in a quiet and beautifully decorated salon listening to an Amazing pianist was the cherry on top. I also was received at breakfast with a very much appreciated token for my birthday. Thank you very much!!!!!

The only good thing about this property is the nice staff. From the minute we walked in it was a big shock!!! I DO NOT understand how this property is a 5 star!!!! The property was beautiful decades ago. The pictures on Expedia must have so much filter on it. It is not well maintained. The furnitures are run down. The wood work is all scratched and extremely old. The lighting in the hallways reminded me of horror movies. It would turn off at 8:30 PM and only worked with sensors..... sometimes. The train station next door which shook the building and the bedrooms every ten minutes and drove all of us crazy!!! The horrible smell which came out of the bathrooms and would not go away even with the windows open. All the broken tiles in the bathroom which was repaired so horribly. Gave you a feeling of a motel 6!!! I had no choice but to stay since we had 4 rooms and it was very difficult in the high season to find 4 rooms in another hotel. The staff were trying to be accommodating and kept upgrading my room but it did not matter how big the room was the problems were the same. If this was sold to me as a 3 star hotel I would understand, but a 5 star...... IT IS NOT!!!! the 6 story hotels two elevators and the whole 6 days we were there, one was not working. I can go on and on and on with all the problems. I am so disappointed at this hotel and at Expedia which does not check on the conditions of the hotels before advertising.

Truly wonderful experience. Hotel was in a good location. Breakfast was an excellent spread and the team at hotel are very attentive. It was my wifes birthday and they made the day even more special for her with little extra touches (with no prompt from me!) Housekeeping also deserve a mention as room cleaned promptly and to an excellent standard. Highly recommended as they do go a few extra steps for the guests

The oldest 5 star hotel in Lisbon is beautifully maintained and updated without losing its old time charm and nostalgia. We loved the stained glass ceilings, the beautiful chandeliers and overstuffed couches and chairs. The best part was the location: right in the heart of the old town of Lisbon. Everything is close by…but a seven minute walk is almost always uphill! There is only one entrance to the hotel off a narrow alley opposite Starbucks and the train station. On the plaza side of the hotel there is a tiny little Gelato shop tucked in the corner. Lots of fun places to eat and people watch.

Oh my gosh! Service was phenomenal. I cannot say enough about the service. The hotel itself was comfortable and stylish. Although our room had an odd odor but I think that was related to the age of the building. This hotel is very centrally located, we were able to walk everywhere. Overall, a wonderful place to stay.

Consistently amazing - we enjoyed our stay again. The only complaint is next time will request a room on a higher floor as there is a store below that begins playing music with base around 10am making any late sleeping or naps less favorable.
