The reservation was for VIP. My 2 drink vouchers were not given at check-in. I had to ask for them. They were nice to drop them off to my room. The person that checked me in spoke very low I really had a hard time hearing him. It came with bottled water which is always a plus.
The bed was comfortable. Though several protesters at Marriot were loud. The room was not bad, the clock is broken. The restroom was beautiful. The room was average, the price was high. Location was great. Close to union square.

The stay itself was OK they were drums going most of our time in the room from the protests. We’ve all later car paid $75 for valet just for the valet to steal a cell phone from the car, we had a location services turned on this phone and it kept going from the parking garage to the hotel. They were telling us they had no idea what we were talking about.. we walked down to the parking garage, and in that time it made its way back to the hotel and then somehow ended up in the car after we searched the car for over 45 mins . This made us feel so unsafe and like we could not trust this expensive vallet and ended up taking the car early cause we didn’t trust our things being in there

Good hotel, with excellent roof top bar and lobby bar. The stay was impacted by demonstrations from 7am to 10pm outside and despite being on the 9th floor, was incredibly noisy in our room. Rest was impossible given we had just completed an 11 hour flight. An impossible situation for the hotel and its guest's.
4.4
The restroom was not very clean. The shower stall still had hair in it!
4.4
Room was disappointingly run down -- including an exposed water pipe dripping into the shower.
4.4
The noise of the strike was unbearable.
4.4
Last minute booking and they were able to fit me in. Theyve done a grand job on refurbishing a beautiful old hotel, keeping all its grand finishes and character. This was a great stay for downtown SF

Stay was nice - the protestors across the street were a drag. I had to move to an interior room to get away from the noise. It's very loud. Liked the location, near Union Square; bathrooms are pretty tiny. Staff were all very hospitable and accommodating. The bar/restaurant was better than expected. A welcome surprise.
4.4
We loved the room, location, and hospitality of the staff. I utilized the gym and the facility was fantastic.
The starlight bar was very cool!
The check in and out process was seamless. We were also able to leave our bags after checkout as we weren’t quite ready to head to the airport.
4.4
Loved this hotel especially the bars. One bar on top floor and one in lobby — both had incredible drinks. Top floor bar had amazing views and drinks, but the service was lagging.
The shower leaked all over our bathroom because it had a very small glass “door”
4.4
Amazing stay! The staff, the rooms, the drinks everything was incredible!
4.4
Not the friendliest staff and not the cleanest.

Just spectacular. Amazing place, amazing stay. Little bit of a weird layout whereas you have to go down to get in the elevator if you have luggage because of the stairs. But that’s not a ding just an observation. This place is new since I lived in San Francisco at least the brand, I would stay there again 100%. Oh and the location? Forget about it, best in the city by far.

Advertised adjoining rooms, and I wrote at the time of booking asking that our rooms would be together and adjoined, they in writing confirmed. We had my daughters 16th birthday and intended for two rooms to adjoin so that their sleep over would be all together. When we got there the front desk said they have no adjoined rooms in the hotel. And very rudely said our rooms wouldn't all be on the same floor and that I had to prove I'd gotten confirmation because it was in no way possible on a busy weekend. After I went to pull out my proof of confirmation she told me to just go sit down and about 20 minutes later she changed our rooms to be together.

The staff was wonderful and the property was stunning.

Reasonable hotel for staying for a short visit for any quick event. Restaurant and bar is tightly organized on mezzanine but decent. If you’re traveling to walk around Union Square and shops it’s convenient. Overall older classic feeling hotel that’s dated but clean. Bathrooms in regular rooms are ok but quite small.
4.4
Unexpected resort fees
4.4
It was very noisy. The noise wasn’t from the outside. It was some kind of motor sound. Hummed all night long. We couldn’t sleep, and gave me headache. I paid too much for a room not able to rest at all.
4.4
Room category ranges are extreme. Booked two rooms at the same time and under the same reservation. One was a shoe box and the other was large…..for the same price.
Water pressure was non existent and while showering the water just stopped.
Lounge on 21st floor was lovely and hostess and bartender were extremely nice.
4.4
Very loud banging of garbage containers for 30 mins at 4:00 am every night.

We are frequent visitors to San Francisco, and decided on this occasion to try a different hotel than our regular one. Beacon Grand seemed a good option because of its location and beautiful images online. But we were disappointed with how unwelcoming the front desk person was - he didn’t react even when we told him that it was our first time at the hotel. The room was stylish but there were cobwebs in the corners! The staff at the bar were very pleasant and the lobby area is quite beautiful but we may just be going back to our regular hotel.

I was not informed the room key was needed to reach my floor but I figured it out quickly. There was no rain shower in my room despite it looking like there was a pipe for it. The hot water never came to my sink after running it for a minute or two. The motorized shades were nice. Took a bit to figure out how to turnout the lights in the bathroom in the middle of the night.

Love this hotel! I will absolutely stay here again.

The hotel is nice, well located and the bar on the 21st floor is lovely. Unfortunately the staff were dismissive and rude for the most part. I left my wife to check in while I parked the car, they notably treated her differently to other guests checking in because she was there solo, didn’t ask her the same questions as other guests and left out standard information that I later had to go and ask. They also messed up our bill for the bar and incidentals, which I’m still waiting on a resolution for. Overall the place is nice. Just expect poor service.

Love staying at this place anytime I'm in San Fran. It's conveniently located and has a historic feel in the lobby and the bar. One of my favorite parts is the water bottle filling station in every hallway. It's eco-friendly and you don't have to worry about where to find potable water. The beds and sheets are so comfy. Awesome bar on the top floor that stays open late too.

Generally really good place to stay. The area has its problems but that won’t be a surprise to anyone familiar with SF, and it’s convenient for visiting many of the sights and taking cable car. Comfortable bed, good shower.
The extra charge at the end ($35 per night) came as a surprise- perhaps it’s standard and I didn’t read the small print!!
4.4
They let us in the room an hour early upon our arrival which was very nice.
Dinner in the restaurant was excellent. Great cocktails.
4.4
The walls were paper thin. Between sirens and neighbors coming in late at night (really early morning) it was very difficult to get a good night’s sleep. It was also a bummer the bar up top isn’t open during the week. The area is declining and I would not recommend wandering alone after dark. Last, I paid for a high floor and don’t consider floor 10 high.

My wife and I were very excited to stay in one of San Francisco’s historic hotels. The Beacon Grand features an enticing entrance and lobby area that couples well with its history. Like many hotels built during this time period, the rooms are rather small. That in itself wasn’t an issue, as it was to be expected. That said, the layout of the room made it feel even more cramped. The turnoff for us as far as the room was concerned was its cleanliness. The floor didn’t appear to have been vacuumed well, there was still cleanser in the bathroom and cup rings and remnants of a spill on the desk.
We had the pleasure of making reservations at the Starlight Lounge, which we were very excited about, and the first half of our excursion to the top floor of the hotel was as advertised with a beautiful sunset and wonderful cocktails. Roughly 40 minutes in the fire alarm went off and we were ushered down 21 flights of stairs until the false alarm was resolved. The emergency in itself was of course no fault of the hotel, but upon our return 30 minutes later (many did not return), no one offered to refresh our drinks or the food that arrived shortly before the alarm.
I would like to point out that the Valet and Bellhop staff were wonderful and extremely helpful. Also, the daytime bartender at the Postroom restaurant was also great.
I just don’t think the Grand Beacon is a place that we will visit again. Cleanliness and service are a priority for me. We had issues with both.

Incredible service and beautiful accommodations.
4.4
There was an open pipe on the bathroom ceiling draining into the shower. Leaking constantly all
Day & night. Never seen anything like this. Very unsanitary. Not to mention the noise at night of each drop of water hitting the shower floor.
4.4
Formerly the Sir Francis Drake hotel - gorgeous property. Will definitely be my go-to spot to stay in SF.
4.4
Too expensive too much money for value
4.4
The size of the room was a bit small for 2 people
4.4
Very nice but SF is not safe.
4.4
Such an amazing place! Staff are amazing and the starlite is out of this world!
4.4
The Beacon Grand is a beautiful hotel with comfortable rooms and a great atmosphere. We had a fancy cocktail in the lounge and enjoyed people watching!
4.4
Beautiful hotel downtown SF!
4.4
Beautiful lobby and bar but very overpriced rate for the basic room you get. Area was dirty, smelly, and felt unsafe.
4.4
Perfect location with Lori’s Diner across the road and Union Square at the end of the block.
There is some stairs at the entry, good to note for carrying luggage!
Quiet and unobtrusive.
