We stayed for our anniversary first impression a strike with loud people outside the premises. The check in was fine, the room ok, but no cleaners available, a complete disaster. The restaurants remodeling and tje only thing available to grab a bite is the lobby with not fresh food and very ecpensive drinks. It wss well located when San Francisco wss nor dangerous,it haa a lot of history but wouldnt stay there again.

At this point there is a strike at some of the larger hotels including the Westin, I wish I had known this in advance of booking. Unclear when it will be resolved. If you want food, you have to order food through one of the food delivery services and go down to the lobby to pick it up.

The is a beautiful hotel but it needs some TLC. The rugs are old and they smell old. Also, they were dealing with a strike and it was very inconvenient.

Awful with the terrible noise outside the building

Disappointed by striking employees!
Also, lobby was under construction!

The hotel and the hotel room were amazing. Staff was very nice and accommodating. Bed and room were also very comfortable with a great view!
The main issue, and it was rather large, was the active strike that was occurring. The participants of the strike would wake the entire hotel up promptly at 7am everyday banging on trash cans and anything that made noise. This would go until 10pm everyday. When entering the hotel lobby, they would bang trash cans pointed into the entryway which were literally deafening. If you plan on sleeping in, or entering the lobby without a headache, wait until the strike is over.
Other than that though, amazing experience at the hotel.

Good location that's not as stellar as it used to be, including the hotel.

Worst experience I’ve had at Westin so far. The noise from the striking staff was loud and annoying. We could hear it from the 24th floor.
Westin should have notified us prior to our arrival - we would have picked a different hotel. So disappointed.

We were back in San Fran for the annual ASC conference; our last time here was Nov. 2019. Amidst the current strike -- which did impact the overall quality of our stay -- we were still able to fully participate in our conference while also enjoying the city itself. Our room was great and the hotel staff was amazing, especially when the elevators - from time to time - sporadically went out of service. That, in addition to the ongoing strike, made for a truly 'mixed-bag' experience.

Hotel was good but the noise of the union workers in front of the hotel was annoying- hope this gets resolved auickly

The staff was very friendly. They made the best of the situation ~ an EXTREMELY LOUD group of striking hotel workers. The room we had was spacious and very comfortable.

Not so good. Laborers were on strike so they were very noisy on the street, drumming and marching. The bed sheet was too light, feeling cold and chilly in the room. Room carpet was not clean. There were a small rock that has not been cleaned and some rubber. I asked the other day to clean them up but they never did. Maybe just did the big things and easy things. My overall impression was very disappointing, messy and confusing stay. I would not likely to stay here again.

The only issues we had were, the people striking in front of the hotel and the fact that The Clock Bar was no longer open. I know they are redoing the bar but it was still a let down.

The hotel was nice. But they failed to tell us that there was a strike going on for 28days before we got there. There was loud banging on drums all day/night till about 10-11pm then would start at 8am again and we could hear them in our room.
Not very happy at all about that and won’t be returning

Nice 3-night stay at a beautiful, historical landmark. Despite the cacophony of the (rightfully) striking workers, our overall stay was very pleasant.

Everything is quite expensive, drinks food. And parking

There was a very loud union protest outside, so loud that we could hear the drums on the 29th floor. Wish we were informed of the protest before booking. Due to the strike, there were no room service, no bottle water, only 1 lobby pizzeria was opened, so we had to order food delivery.

A classic hotel in the heart of SF, not bad in its foundation. But really bad at the present time. Apparently the hotel staff strike had been going on for 5 weeks already with non-relenting drumming, megaphone messaging, and other unpleasantries. No end in sight. Now let’s look at this: While this was totally annoying, the other SF problem – the massive numbers of unhoused people on the streets – is directly connected to this: as a worker, one should be able to make ends meet and get some insurance, the lack of which is unquestionably associated with ending up on the street without social support network. It may be time to rethink goals for these hotels: pay nice, achieve happiness of staff and customers, and reduce the social disaster.

Overall disappointing. The bathroom sink was cracked, the shower wouldn’t stop dripping, and the room was dusty.

I have stayed at the St Francis all
Of my life. It was a horrible, expensive , no service, unclean experience. I arrived to stay 5 days, 2 rooms, without knowing a lot the labor dispute. I asked for a refund to move hotels and was refused. The striking laborers pounded on drums screamed and bled blow horns at everyone coming and going 24/7. No one should stay anyplace without being notified of a labor dispute. No room service no restaurants, the room was dirty . I will never stay there again.

The hotel staff in on strike, there is no room service internet, restaurants are not available. I have stayed at the St Francis all my life. This will be my last time. I tried to check out and stay somewhere else and was told that I would loose my entire payments for 2 rooms for 5 days. Very disappointed

I was told that I would receive a text when I could check in. The check in text came in at 10:00pm, good thing I came back to the hotel at 4pm. Upon entering the room , it was extremely dusty, the carpet had not been vacuumed, the extra blankets were unfolded and dirty. This hotel is outdated, there were protestors screaming and yelling outside the entrance our entire stay. I will never return to this hotel.

There was a protest going on while we were there. Employees of the hotel right out front of the front door. They were there upon arrival and there all day. 6am wake up with them banging and yelling. 17th floor and we heard everything loud and clear with all the windows closed.

Great location and staff was fantastic but brought in from other hotels. There is a strike going on! People protesting and banning loudly all day long. The hotel is remodeling and the elevators were a big problem. Waiting 10
Minutes for one multiple times!

My son flew in from LA to take care of me after I had surgery. Instead of staying in my small apartment we decided to stay at the St. Francis. What a place to recover. We both slept so well. The bed, pillows and bedding were so comfortable. The housekeeper came in to clean the room after the hibernating bears went for a walk and when we came back it didn’t even look like we had slept there. The breakfast was amazing. Especially the homemade salsa. We ordered room service twice and the food was outstanding. The service impeccable. This is the third time staying at the St. Francis. It’s my go to hotel when staying in the city and I don’t think I’ll be staying anywhere else.

Can’t believe you make people pay for WI-FI….not something I have come across in 4/5 star hotels.
The room was spacious and clean but dated
Staff were helpful but communication was not great at times
There were a lot of homeless in and around the hotel and the journey from the BART after hours felt intimidating

We had a city view room in the tower, view was great & the tub/shower was great too. Great location close to everything. Bed was comfortable too.

The hotel is in need of a substantial update, the public areas, elevators and restaurants are tired, but our room was spacious and pleasant.

From the moment we walked in, we felt safe and well taken care of! Staff is all friendly and helpful. The property has the old glamour of the grand hotels of the past with all of the modern comforts and amenities. Resort Fee gets turned into a hotel credit to spend at restaurant. Love this place! Check out the little french cafe across the street at union square, lovely indeed!
