Its always good staying at hotel tropiq, this time we were upgraded into family room..
3.0
The Tropiq is obviously an old building and needs a lot of TLC. We had an issue with some very big unwanted bugs, but dealt with it ourselves. The saving grace of Hotel Tropiq is its’s superb staff, Trevor and his team are amazing and nothing is a problem, if you asked for the moon they would do their best to get it for you. We would have no problem staying in the Tropiq again.

Very helpful staff.

It was a good stay no qualms whatsoever. Clean room, good shower, easy walk to night markets, pleasant staff. I would stay again.

I'd be unhappy if I paid more than I did for this hotel. If it's cheap, there's usually for a good reason. The room was grubby, particularly the floor. However, the bed linen was immaculate - which is what counted.

The sliding door is a nightmare to open.

2nd time staying at the Tropiq, good value for money. Nothing fancy but clean, quiet and easy access to downtown Cairns
8.0
Close to the Esplanade action.

I liked the friendly, helpful staff, who made me feel welcome and relaxed.
The place could do with some renovations, but I was not wanting a high class resort, nor a high cost venue. I got what I wanted, a safe, clean, relaxed atmosphere where I could come and go as I pleased, close to everything Cairns has to offer. Thanks Trevor ( Mark).
10.0
Great spot, easy access to main precinct and airport
6.0
For the money, we expected a lot nicer. Mould on toilet and bathroom sink. Large crack in wall near main bed. Beds were comfortable. Only 2 blankets for 3 beds. Pool was good for kids, but some lounge chairs were broken. Obvious disrepair throughout the property.

It's a bit old but clean and a decent place to stay. Easy walking to the CBD and places to eat.

It’s an older hotel which didn’t have the best reputation but new owners have cleaned that up well

Stayed here for one night. Staff were great. Property is quite old but you get what you pay for.

First night at 5am we were awoken to a sound and watched for 5 minutes while someone's arm tryied to get our security chain off the door. Lucky we had decided to put it on the night before.
The staff were excellent.
The place is very tired and needs refurbishment at least.

Old amenities no room essential, plates toaster etc
2.0
Old building, balcony too narrow when walking with bags. Tables in the way. Very noisy. Window doesn’t lock in bathroom. Smells stale in room. Lights in room horrible. Wooden Steps left hand side are dangerous. Pool nice & that area okay. Gentleman checked us in was efficient enough. Parking inside premises very limited to a couple of spots.

Great service from friendly staff
Easy walk to town and esplanade and tours
2.0
Staff were friendly but the room was terrible.
The bathroom was filthy with the shower curtain covered in snot and other stains. The sheets were dirty, the pillow case looked like it had been used to clean the floor.
The AC sounded like a tractor engine and the bed was like sleeping on the floor. There is zero plugs free so goodluck if you have a medical device.

The standard twin room that I was given was completely different from what is on the website. It was sub-standard. It was much smaller. The single bed, which was on wheels, moved whenever the person sat on the bed and rested against the wall. The fridge was extremely small. The microwave was on a top shelf so I to stand on my tiptoes to reach it. I was there for 6 nights. When I asked for the room to be serviced on the Saturday I was told that rooms aren't serviced on the weekend but was told mine would be done. The linen was changed and soap and shampoo provided. The bathroom and floor weren't cleaned. Rooms not being serviced on the weekend isn't mentioned on the hotel information sheet. Water was leaking from the shower recess, through the wall, into the bedroom. The people at reception were friendly.

I was extremely disappointed I booked here- the overall cleanliness was terrible- sheets and towels were clean but that’s it- there were filthy marks on walls- cockroaches- mouse poo- mould and scum in bathrooms. Place needs a reno- musty old wooden cupboards/ broken floor tiles.
The only positive is the staff were very helpful and responsive.
We booked central thinking we could spend time at the lagoon on the esplanade but then council closed it for maintenance during the school holidays!

Floor tiles in unit were extremely slippery in the damp, humid conditions and a potential safety hazard, particularly in the bathroom; limited power points available and none within reach of beds; no bedside tables; sound from adjoining rooms was quite audible. However, unit was clean, beds comfortable with clean linen and pool area quite nice.

Honestly we were appalled, the room was filthy from the floors to the ceiling fan to the bath & sink. The room was not only dirty but very basic. During our second night there was a massive argument between men ! The bed had a permanent roll to the middle and very hard. The property was very run down. Certainly not what the pictures showed. Definitely would not recommend, absolutely not worth the money they charged us. The young girl at reception was lovely the sheets where clean.
