Great hotel with level walk to beach and shops. Parking at hotel for £10 for 24 hours with some good size bays for the larger car.The breakfast was good and the dinner options were also good. We stayed in a double with sea view on the second floor which was slightly tired but clean and comfortable. My only criticism was that at night it was very hot in October, requiring us to use the portable fan which was provided in the room. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Great very comfortable

A lovely hotel in a great location, near the beach and seafront, as well as a stone's throw from the railway station. Great service from friendly, attentive and caring staff. Highly recommended, and will look forward to a return visit at some point.

The hotel looks nothing like the photos they are heavily edited and deceiving. The hotel is literally falling apart the rooms are small and dirty with cheap finishings which are old and damaged the bed is literally awful there is also no spa on site as advertised.

Very disappointed with room. Supposedly a standard room but no outlook, dirty window difficult to open looking onto dirty walls and a cesspipe running vertically along the roof.Must be the best view in Torquay.

Perfect for the Agatha Christie Festival and so close to the railway station. Bar is excellent and there was a charming pianist playing in the lounge.

Nice old hotel.. staff very friendly and courteous ...room was clean and comfortable.. bathroom needs to be upgraded... is tired and outdated...
Noise from outside air conditioning/ extractor very noisy till 10.30 pm then from 8.30am in morning ...

Had a weekend break, great service- nice room although slightly dated, very clean. Good breakfast. Bar and snacks good value.
Only slight negative ordered a tuna sandwich and the bread was literally cut two inches thick, amazing value but so difficult to eat and wasteful. Our only negative, loved the stay.

Very enjoyable stay once again. Location is perfect and close to transport links
A very comfortable relaxed stay at The Grand.
Breakfast excellent also.

Nice place, you can tell it was amazing back in the days. It is quite dated, however clean and the service was good.

Corridors are mould ridden and damp, water dripping from calling into cream tubes.
Room old, dated and dirty.

The downstairs of hotel lovely and posh
Bedrooms were shabby furniture scruffy. Chipped
Bedroom size small cramped tv small limited channels no itv
Bathroom very tiny rusted shower
But balcony was a nightmare could only be got to through a sash window
I had mobility problems asked for room near lift given one far from lift
Breakfast was amazing and so was dinner

Had a lovely weekend in Torquay. Very good service at the Grand Hotel. Hotel next to railway station which was useful as travelling by train. Didnt have evening meals at hotel, but breakfasts were excellent. Used the indoor pool which was adequate for a nice swim in the morning. Room pleasant and clean, but bed a bit hard. Hotel clean and tidy but generally decor looks a bit tired. Staff pleasant and helpful.
Would be happy to stay there again.

The hotel location was great... a short walk from the train station and by the water. The staff was friendly. Our room was small but clean.
The bathroom sink was badly cracked and the taps barely worked. There was no AC and no screen on the windows which we had to keep closed because of the birds. The view was of a rusty metal fire escape with many bird droppings. The elevators were scarey with a note to say to call on your cell phone if the elevator stops. We did not have a cell phone plan so we rode separately.

The overall experience was very good staff brilliant, heated external pool great, room s clean, one thing i would say is the bathrooms could do with some attention, tiling not great poor shower pressure.

The stay was OK however if you are looking to relax this isn’t the place. The pool is so outdated that wasn’t a nice experience, it was cold and no loungers to put your stuff. The outside pool water looked dirty.
The room was spacious but felt miles away from the small TV.
Overall it was okay but we wouldn’t stay here again especially for the price.

Always pleased with my stay at the grand. The location is great with young child or elderly relative. Love the outdoor heated swimming pool . The indoor pool and changing facilities although clean are in great need of renovations especially as a 4star hotel. The bed was comfortable and room spacious although no toiletries in the room when checked in, however when I asked at reception they were sent up. The property could benefit from having a mini fridge in the room to keep things for children in the family room as most other 4star hotels do. All around lovely stay

all staff could not do enough for us, always looking to help.
Room and bathroom very clean and tidy the only thing I need to bring to the attention of the management was the toilet seat is too low and could not get on and off without help.
After the test indicates that the difference between the disabled toilet is the best choice for me I used it for our stay. (97years and 84years) was the only way to do it without help.
Just to let you know that the information contained in this email is to be honest with other's in the same condition.
Thank you all for a lovely stay.

Very comfortable and wonderful people but it needs a face lift

The room was fine, clean, well maintained. The staff were attentive and cheerful. Dinner was tasty but the menu had only very limited daily change. If we had stayed longer than our two nights it would have been boring.
The hotel was let down by the breakfast. The fresh fruit salad was going brown, the hash browns and sausages were hardly edible. The fried eggs were only half cooked. All the hot food was barely warm. There was no teapot provided. Indeed on one morning there were no saucers provided. In over 50 years of staying in hotels here and abroad I think that this was the worst breakfast offering that I had experienced.

For such an iconic hotel in the area, the main reception was really welcoming and nice. The rooms however are very old and dated.

It was a seaside hotel built in the 19th century, I'm guessing the last revamp was in the 1980's.
It was sadly about what I expected when booking and paying for the luxury of its position.
Tired, with a fantastic location.
The pool looked good (but not tested), spectacular view.
The bathroom in the room I had was almost at the point of dangerous if you wanted a shower.

Stay was very enjoyable! Jackie in the lounge was exceptional. She went over and beyond to help us! The bathroom was very poorly lit. Our view was stunning and Sophie at reception made that a reality for us.

Downstairs was stunning the room unfortunately was dated and not clean, hairs left in bath. Ordered liver bacon and mash in resturant mash was beautiful liver was still bloidy, no replacement or discount offered

When we arrived we thought we had the wrong hotel as the outside was so worn down looking compared to the photos online It was my first Anniversary treat to my Wife and I literally cannot put into words how disappointed I am. Our first room the carpets were stained, pillows were stained, wallpaper peeling off the walls and it smelt awful.
We were given another room we later came across stains on the shower curtain, dirt on bath tiles, the bottom of the toilet was awful, the toilet brush was brown.
We asked to have our room cleaned later on Sunday as we over slept. Went out came back late and nothing had been done. No bins emptied, clean towels, floor wasn't hoovered once.
The amount of times I had to speak to reception I was too embarrassed to say anything else.
We have taken pictures of everything and hot tap was broken, cold tap ran hot.
From what was advertised I was immensely disappointed.

We were lucky enough to extend our trip for an extra night and we only had to move into the room next door. No balcony but again a lovely spacious room with big windows overlooking the sea and pool. I can only give this beautiful hotel and it's staff a five star review!! We have booked again to return for a 3 night stay in November to watch the fireworks at Brixham and hopefully we can add on a couple of extra days if there's room. Top quality and Highly recommended!! The best Hotel in Torquay!!

Another fantastic stay at The Grand Hotel in Torquay. We booked a standard double room with a sea view and a balcony. Excellent room and cleanliness. The view from the balcony was lovely and the facilities in the hotel are perfect with an indoor and outdoor pool and spa. The staff were brilliant and we can't wait to come back again!! 5star in my eyes!! Thank you all for a wonderful stay and we hope to come back soon.
