This was my second stay in less than a year at Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge. It was a delight to see Shiela again, who provided a very warm welcome to our group. Upon seeing me, Shiela immediately asked me why I had not sent a message to the lodge to alert staff that that I was coming back again.
During dinner, we once again enjoyed the all-singing, joyous birthday celebrations the staff perform as they approached people on other tables who were celebrating birthdays.
Considering no one in our group was celebrating any special occasion, imagine our surprise when the staff presented us with a cake while serenading us with a song. Once the celebratory song was over, staff explained it was a 'welcome back' cake - which had been organised by Shiela and was greatly appreciated.
It is this type of personal touch that makes our stay at Ngorongoro Serena memorable long after we have returned home,
We were lucky to get clear skies on our second morning at the lodge - and hence enjoyed a magnificent sunrise from our balcony.
We would like to than Shiela and all the other staff at Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge for taking such good care of us and for leaving us with such happy memories about our stay and African safari adventure.

From the moment we arrived, the customer service provided at the reception, in our room and dining area was exceptional.
View from our room was absolutely stunning and I will never forget the incredible sunrise we were lucky to see during both mornings of our stay.
As our party included two senior citizens with mobility issues, check-in staff gave us a room that was as close to the main entrance/dining area as possible. Since the restaurant is located on an upper level and requires climbing up a spiral staircase, Ngorongoro Serena's manager Erick made arrangements for us to sit on a table on the ground-floor level bar. This meant the two senior citizens were spared the challenge of climbing up the stairs.
We really appreciate how Erick, Sheila at reception and all the other staff went out of their way to make our stay so enjoyable and made a number of adjustments within the lodge to ensure my mum and aunt were comfortable.
We also enjoyed the all-singing, all-dancing Serena birthday surprise I was given during dinner, which made it a very unique experience - even if it was two days before my actual birthday!!
Due to the spread of the rooms, Wi-fi in room was not great. But this is to be expected in remote areas and it's a small price to pay for what was otherwise an incredible stay.
Thank you to everyone at Serena Ngorongoro for the personal touch we were given and for making it such a memorable stay.

A really good hotel.

Very nice lodge very close to the entrance to the crater. Facilities, staff, food and services are all wonderful. We enjoyed our one night stay at the lodge in a room with a balcony overlooking the crater (actually a caldera).

The service at this expensive lounge is disappointing. In general there is no prompt help and everything is very slow and not organized.

The view here is great. The food was good, not five star but solid. The staff there are excellent. True good service and very nice people. The spa service was a joy after so many days in the car. Would do again.

We had a very nice stay there the only problem was that this part of the country was hit by a lot of rain so quite a few of the roads in the crater was closed or flooded with a great risk to pass.

No game drive scheduled by the lodge, expensive for nothing

Absolutely AMAZING place! Incredible views of the crater from all rooms. Nice bar, great restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Service top notch. Make sure you show them you have prepaid for your room, as they wanted to charge me twice initially....

The service in the lodge of resturant is cold and My prada eyewear and box got lost in restraunt when restaurant manager is preparing the table.
while the cctvs did not founction well during the time of theft.
The lodge manager Dismas simba did not say anything sorry and do not care if i post the experience to other places. i filed the case in local police. police is going to investigate and ask them why all the cctvs failed to work just during the time of theft.

Everything perfect! The hotel is great, food is delicious and location amazing! You see the Crater from your room! It's an expensive hotel but to be on top of the Crater it's a great experience and worth!

Stayed here while on Safari after climbing Kilimanjaro and was very pleasantly surprised. Using the few words of Swahili I had learned made all the difference and as a result, the staff and service was great. Dining Room very busy but with a good attitude we had a great meal. Service good, food same as everywhere else and very pleasant and tasty. (One needs to remember where you are and not have huge expectations!) The view is spectacular and worth rising early for the sunrise! Rooms were clean and absolutely satisfactory. A pleasant stay and would return there anytime
