Great hotel! Loved it! Like traveling back in time. Clean, comfortable, and had a nice hot breakfast!

The Blackwell Hotel is a special treat. This historic building is a unique option in the heart of Coeur d'Alene. The is a beautiful courtyard that was hosting a wedding the day we were leaving, but we got to see the rehearsal and the scene was just perfect! The kitchen area is well equipped with fruit, snacks, coffee, tea, and spiced apple cider (yum!). There is a fridge in the kitchen that is shared, but you can store anything you'd like there during your stay. The main area has a beautiful gas fireplace, sitting area, game table, pool table, and information about the area. The porch has the most quintessential swing - have a go! The room was well equipped with a large TV, king bed with memory foam mattress, clawfoot tub, and plenty of space! We loved the little notes on the walls explaining different amenities. The staff was extremely helpful, kind, and warm. We would absolutely stay here again.

Nice place to stay for a couple of days. Very quaint with lots of character. Breakfast was good.

Very cool older home well renovated as a B&B. We stayed in a room in the 3rd floor with its own bathroom. Not all rooms have their own bathroom but instead share. Be aware if you’re on the 3rd floor you have to haul your stuff up the stairs which are a bit steep. But the rooms are wonderful. Quiet and cool although they do cater to parties and weddings so maybe ask ahead of time if you want a quiet time.

The Blackwell was a very nice centrally located to down town.
We had a pleasant suprise to be right in the middle of the cars/hotrods/very creative rides, cruising the main street. The front porch was a perfect stop to view the activities.
Breakfast was very nice.

Absolutely gorgeous historic house/property!
Great location…nice neighborhood, yet easy walk to main shops and restaurants and lake.
Lots of room and storage in well decorated rooms!
Says hotel, but it’s really a B&B…with a very nice breakfast and lovely places to sit alone or as a group.

We had a great stay. The hotel is centrally located and has all the amenities. It was such a seamless checkin as well.

great environment

A one of a kind place. Hope to return next time in the CDL area. The “check-in” process is different than at a hotel—you get a text with instructions how to get in—and there is no one around to greet you or chat with. But instructions are clear and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
4.6
We loved the carriage house accomodations and how close it was to the local shops and lake!
Checking in was interesting - we looked for a staff member to welcome us and help check us in and couldnt find anyone. When we entered the back yard space to the carriage house, an event was happening and we felt like we were intruding. It would have been helpful to have some instructions or reassurance from the hospitality staff.
The bed was comfy but the fitted sheet kept sliding off all night with any movement. We also couldnt get any hot water in the shower.
Aside from these inconveniences, we had a wonderful stay.

I really liked the texted communication befte and during the stay

Like the vintage and historical property and the pool table downstairs. Cozy room with a comfortable bed. Nice, tree shaded parking. Breakfast included is a plus!
4.6
The property was quite nice, however there was a car show/parade that turned right at the hotel. It was very loud and some of the vehicles started up at six o'clock in the morning.
Had we known, we would not have stayed there.

Classic big house converted to hotel. Cozy sitting areas throughout the main floor. Super comfortable beds and bedding.

No AC, or not working properly

Nice night’s stay at historic home turned into a hotel. Breakfast was basic but good. Stayed in a 3rd story room facing the busier street so there was some road noise. We stayed in early April so the room temp was fine but would likely be too warm in the summer months. Nice grounds. Beautiful lobby and lounging areas. Easy walk to Beverly’s for dinner.
4.6
The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. The pillows must have been memory foam and there must have been a memory foam topper on the mattress. I stayed for the Coeur D’Alene Half Marathon and this hotel was very easy walking access to the start at Mccuen Park and the downtown strip on Sherman Avenue. Breakfast was tasty and had a decent amount of options. The water pressure in the shower and bathroom sink was pretty strong. Convenient to have an access code on the lock on the door instead of having to carry around a physical key. Plenty of parking. Friendly staff.

A lovely house full of character and really well finished throughout, clean and very comfotable, bed and shower were good and plenty of room.
Only frustration was that as we came from UK the access information text was never received on UK phone and not available through Hotels.com ,if that was set up it would have saved having to arrive early just to talk to someone.
Be aware this is similar to airbnb properties as no one available for check in.
Having said that breakfast was excellent with great choice,

The Blackwell Hotel is amazing! It was beautiful and very well renovated.

Very helpful staff.

Beautiful historic property with great friendly host. Never did get the TV to work. Internet was also very spotty and never did work well. But you are staying in 120 year-old nicely maintained home! And if your room is on the third floor, just know you’re gonna have to hoof it up some steps! I would definitely stay again. One of the more reasonable rates for a room in the entire city also helps! Ideal location just a couple blocks from the center of this very quaint and attractive city.
4.6
No staff on duty after 5PM. No morning staff when we left. We were the only ones in the whole house.
4.6
Quaint old house.

This is a cute hotel. Transforming a historic home into a cute boutique hotel. It is very close to downtown. The staff even through they leave @4 pm are very attentive. They also catered to my husbands dietary needs for breakfast.
4.6
Beautiful historical BnB. Furnishings & kitchen
modern comfort! Wonderful!

The whole experience felt as if we were visiting a friend. Great old mansion and home cooked breakfast. So close to the lake and beach. We would highly recommend.
4.6
Excellent property, would highly recommend!
4.6
Comfy beds, nice staff, good ammenities and great location. Unfortunately the breakfast was runny scrambled eggs and undercooked sausage, the house was kept too warm, 10pm curfew on any noise was too early especially on weekends, basement tv had no remote to use it, and the lack of tables and chairs set up to use outside was a bummer since weather was gorgeous and inside was too hot.
4.6
What a beautiful place! Bed was super comfortable, and we loved our room. Would definitely stay here again!
4.6
Easy walk downtown
4.6
Huge room would be an understatement. Exceptionally clean and tidy. It is and old house, so the floors creak and the stairs squeak. All part of the charm and experience. Will likely stay again.
4.6
It was quaint but the bathroom was across the hall. The bed was uncomfortable. There was suppose to be a door notice to clean but not in the folder at the room. Therefore our room was not made up or clean for the entire stay.
4.6
Friendly staff made me feel like I was home. Was willing to accommodate my needs for a level 1 floor because of my knee problem with climbing stairs.
4.6
This property is a gem. Historic building with a unique feel of nostalgia. Friendly check in. Feels like a home away from home.
4.6
Very nice rooms. Free snacks and fresh breakfast served by host.
4.6
No service employees to help after 5:00.
Didn’t like mattress
Mansion was great.

We’ve stayed here before, and will so again. We love everything about it, great restaurants and shops nearby.

I like staying at unique places that have character and don't look like every other hotel, and the Blackwell has plenty of character. Very cool place to stay. I was here on business however and did not know that breakfast isn't served until 9am prior to my stay, that would've been nice to know.
4.6
Beautiful boutique accomodations. Perfect for a quick getaway... maybe a future wedding venue...
Highly recommend!!

Guest should be informed that there will be no staff on the premises, especially if you are the only guest. Wifi and TV never worked even after informing staff that they would fix it. I booked 2 nights and canceled the second night as I didn't feel comfortable. The one positive is that Laurie made a nice breakfast and refunded my 2nd night without any fuss.
