Walls very thin, heard couple next door getting very friendly. Housekeeping also tried to open our door two different days while we were still in bed, even with our door tag on.

This hotel is in a great location & has a nice vibe! Mo on the front desk is amazingly helpful & the bar is well-priced but it's strange that it closes at 10.30pm on a Fri night. The issue is the room-to-room noise - especially how loudly you can hear the blinds opening & closing in other rooms (weird!) - & noise from the hall into the room (thanks drunk guys for talking really loudly in the hall for 10 mins at 3am!). So, absolutely fine for a night or two & lovely, friendly staff, but I'd avoid for a longer stay.

We enjoyed our stay. The hotel itself and our room was clean and stylish.

My stay with The Motto was absolutely amazing. The vibe, the look (rooms, lobby, hallway), the service was just great. The mexican theme restaurant wasn’t my thing. But I would still come back 100%.

I decided to stay at this hotel because of the reviews and the in location meal options, which I never took advantage of! All staff that I came into contact with were friendly and professional. I went in knowing they only had communal microwaves in the basement but I appreciated the in room mini fridge. Room was clean and comfortable.I would like to stay again when it's warmer to take full advantage of the rooftop restaurant.

Everytime again. Nice staff and a good Place. Restaurants and Bars are in the Beat.

The hotel is located next to everything I needed. Stayed for the Philadelphia marathon and it was just a mile walk to the start line! Sound proofing isn’t the best in the rooms- I could clearly hear conversations in the hall, my neighbor coughing, etc but it was clean and comfortable for what I needed.

Scalding hot water was all I could get in the room even after reporting the problem. Front desk staff were helpful and pleasant but a couple of the Bartenders were rude and arrogant. There was no luggage rack and no extra blanket for a bed that pretty much just had sheets on it. No microwave, coffeemaker or tea either. The remote for the TV didn’t work. Functionally, the room was a disaster. Though the cleaning team was stellar.

Great location, close to everything! Hotel is new, nice coffee house and restaurant and comfortable, updated rooms! I would definitely stay again at Motto! Uh and front desk, the best! :)

Great except for daily garbage trucks waking us at 6-7am. Would request the other side of hotel next time

I wanted to like this hotel more than I did. I paid $192 for a 1-night stay on a Friday night during the off season, which wasn't insanely expensive, but not a super great price either. I would give this stay a 2.5/5 star rating.
Pros:
-staff upon check-in was incredibly friendly and allowed me to check in at 10am for no extra charge, had solid recommendations for thrift stores and restaurants in the area
-convenient to a lot of locations in Philadelphia, I walked everywhere for the duration of my stay
-spacious bathroom and good water pressure
Cons:
-room was smaller than expected
-bed was EXTREMELY uncomfortable. I tend to prefer firm beds, but this genuinely felt like I could have slept on the floor and had the same comfort level. kept waking up every hour.
-had a weird experience with one of the staff when I came back from a concert on Friday night. I really wanted an iced tea and there is a sign at the cafe that says the restaurant bar staff is able to make coffee drinks there after 4pm. I asked the bartender for an iced tea, and she told me that the cafe was closed and that if I wanted, I could go downstairs to the basement and get iced tea from the vending machine. When I pointed out the sign at the cafe, she said they didn't have iced tea.
-Television had AWFUL reception. I tried using the regular channels first, but there was a terrible lag between the audio and video. I tried to watch some podcasts on the TV's youtube app and encountered the same thing.

Great location! The rooms are small, but thoughtfully designed and very updated. Bed was super comfortable, restaurant food and drinks were superb, and staff was friendly and helpful. Will definitely come again next time I'm in Philly!

the smell of black mold in the overflow drain was very strong. I could see the mold and it was obvious that no attempt had ever been made to clean the overflow drain

Great location and parking garage directly across the street. The street is a little rough looking— could have just been my arrival time as the garbage was out on the curb. The hotel, however is great. Coffee shop and restaurant open to both the hotel and the street. Very modern and clean. Will definitely stay again.

Walking distance from Rittenhouse Square, City Hall and Reading Food Terminal.
It's also betweem Market Street and Chestnut Street which makes it convenient for shopping and restaurants.
Highly recommend this hotel; it looks and feels brand new with a great cafe in the lobby.

Good location, not too far from the convention center that I was going to. Great restaurant (Condesa) and fun rooftop bar. Friendly, helpful front desk staff. The room was quite small, but that's how some hotels are going now- spend your time in their common areas, not in your room.

Great location, clean, safe and rather quiet in downtown Philly.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights and it was nearly perfect. We had a queen bed that was the most comfortable bed we’ve ever slept in while traveling. The location is perfect, staff was super friendly! We loved the coffee shop right down stairs. My only complaint is there was a weird clicking noise throughout the night. Not sure if it’s pipes we can hear through the walls or what it was but we turned the AC on and it helped drown out the noise. We were right across from the elevator and it was not very noisy outside. Very pleased with our stay and will definitely be back!

Great location. Easy parking across the street. The room was basic, but all we needed. The property was clean and easy to navigate.

We had no water to take a shower in the evening and the morning of the check out. Has never happened before, very disappointed.

Group of eight friends. 4 rooms. The queen bed room was bigger than the bunk beds. Sweet clean micro rooms, comfortable beds, nice roomy bathroom.
Great location. Love the coffee and pastry bar. The receptionists were kind, helpful and very welcoming. All in all very positive experience.

Great location. Near SEPTA. Visited to see baseball game.
Staff helpful. Room small but comfortable.

I’ve stayed at other I guess you call them micro hotels. I was impressed by the location and cleanliness. Not a whole lot of closet space. In fact, no closet to speak of. Just a couple of drawers. It was perfect for a weekend stay.

Room was nice and staff was pleasant. 2 blocks from Rittenhouse Square.

The hotel was overbooked. So while we had a romantic weekend in mind we ended up with bunk beds in what basically amounted to a nice dorm.

Overall a great place good was excellent.Sunday brunch was great

I stayed in a corner room with windows on two walls which is aesthetically pleasing but makes viewing the television difficult because it is facing the side of the bed and there are no chairs. That is my one and only sort of less than positive feedback. I like this property and will return whenever I am in Philadelphia

Nice quick stay at Motto. Stayed there with my teenage son so didn’t go to the bar. The bottom level restaurant/bar seemed popular although we didn’t go but it was busy Saturday night. I wasn’t a fan of the bathroom door. It is not 100% private. Bed was comfortable. Saw a few random hairs in bathroom. Coffee shop not open as early as I needed it to be but there is a place two doors down that has coffee and is open 24 hours. The staff was awesome. Very helpful and nice. For the price and staff I would choose it again.

There is no coffee maker in the room! Easily walkable to major sites. Great dining options. Staff were excellent. Nice rooftop bar.

I’ve stayed here previously and had a good experience each time. A little disappointing this time to find that two of the towels had brown marks on them upon arrival.
This was resolved by the manager but I did have to chase this up 24 hours later as the replacement towels still hadn’t arrived. I then had a bizarre situation where the room was cleaned but I was left without a shower mat.
Despite these frustrations, overall it’s a decent hotel in a good area and reasonably priced. Would definitely stay there again.

Lovely hotel. Very clean. Modern. Rooms are small, but very well designed. Perfect place to stay if your priority is being in a safe, comfortable, attractive, clean hotel room and don’t need lots of luxuries. It’s not The Ritz or the W. But a great little hotel. Good coffee place in the lobby.

The Motto was a delightful surprise. It is in a nice spot in the city, just steps from Rittenhouse Square and plenty of great restaurants and shopping. The staff at check-in was friendly and efficient. My room was spacious and uncluttered with a great bathroom. I will definitely stay there again.
