Japanese language and English language communication. Very friendly. Beautiful room. Practical breakfast.

My partner and I were eager to experience the snow in Hakuba and were in search of an affordable and charming place to stay for a couple. We stumbled upon West Coast Inn, and its location turned out to be incredibly convenient for us. Situated just a 3-minute walk from Hakuba Station (also providing access to the Hakuba Free Shuttle to the Happo One Slope and other slopes), it was perfect. Seiko and her husband were delightful hosts, both fluent in English, which was helpful for us as non-Japanese speakers. Our room and the overall ambiance of the inn were delightful, and they truly made us feel at home.

Best hotel I ever stayed at before, The owner is the most helpful person and we couldn't of had a successful trip without her

The owner is super friendly and speaks good English. She’s super helpful with ski rental and bus information. She even offer to drop me somewhere near by. Place is a bit old. Floors are wood and makes a bit of noise. But the place is clean and offers soap shampoo toothpaste etc. offers a simple continental breakfast. It’s near Hakuba station if your using that for transport. It’s like staying at a relatives house or college dorm with a house mother. You eat in a common area and dinning room. Everyone washes their own dishes.

Location is convenient for train but the shuttle bus does not always stop at the near by station. They turn off the heat to the rooms during the day and you have to ask to have it turned back on. We were freezing after skiing for a good hour. The shower maxes out at below optimal temperature. The bathroom was dirty with pink mould in the shower and cobwebs in the corner of the room. The carpet was gross, and bedside lights did not work. You must bring your gear into your room if you want it to dry out overnight. The breakfast is bread coffee and cornflakes. The final night the bed frame collapsed and we had to fix it. The place seems run down and tired. The female owner speaks English and is lovely.

The best thing about West Coast Inn are the owners who are very kind and helpful. The accommodation is hostel style, basic but with everything you need. The room was warm and cosy. The breakfast simple but enough, with decent coffee a bonus.

This is honestly one of the best places I've ever stayed. The host is amazing and incredibly friendly.
The room was really cozy and clean.
The included breakfast was a lifesaver!
There are timetables and phone numbers available for the various buses and taxis that can take you to the different resorts and stores for snow sports equipment rental.
All in all it was a great experience. Would stay there again any time!

The couple who run the hotel are welcoming, kind, and helpful. I would definitely book again.

Hostel looks old but near Hakuba Station.Host very friendly and have easy breakfast.

The host was good to talk to and provided us simple vegetarian breakfast. But the house was not as good as in the pcitures. The room was not at all ventilated and the AC was not working at all. Even one of the 2 fans provided was not functional. We spent a restless hot night sweating .we tried to call the host twice but she was not available . Even though bit cheaper it was not value for money and i will not recommend this place.

Such a nice stay in Hakuba thanks to Seiko’s warm welcome! The place is very charming is it an old ski hostel, the rooms are super clean and the beds so comfortable. We arrived around 9pm, later than expected and still receive such a nice welcome. We even got invited by Seiko over breakfast the next day. Place very recommended!
