Bad experience. Inappropriate comments from staff member and unprofessional late night phone calls and room visits past 11pm. Bathroom smelled like poop coming from upstairs. No drinking water available. Sheets have pilling on them. Elevators were not working at had to climb 6-7 flights of stairs. Another time when it was “working,” I got stuck in it for 5 minutes without air. Would not recommend.

No dining options, terrible room, services are really limited and super expensive. It seems like the hotel is not ready or they’re doing renovations. The images on Expedia do not actually represent the hotel. I would not recommend to anyone.

We stayed at this hotel for 7 nights and it was ok but I would not rate it highly.
Good points:
Clean room.
Great location.
Staff ok
Bad points:
Water in shower going from cold to very scolding hot randomly
Downstairs being renovated which creates a lot of noise and dust
No hairdryer available as they only had one and it blew up
Could not get breakfast one day as it was only available after 8am whereas we ging to leave for an excursion at 7:30am
You have to be in the room whilst it gets cleaned which is inconvenient as we were out everyday
No USB charge points in the rooms which in this day and age is an absolute must.
Only one lift working some days and it was also used by the builders
Satellite TV only worked intermittently as the signal was poor
WiFi was very poor as well.
As a family of four in two separate rooms there was not enough space for our clothes so we lived out of the suitcase basically.
We would not stay here again in its current state.

The lobby was under construction the blankets are dirty and even if you ask for new ones they still give you dirty ones the customer service was good however which was the only good thing

The hotel is clean, rooms are well furnished, and facilities are very good. But if you have more than 3 bags, it is better to choose the twin bedroom instead of the double bedroom as it is more spacious. The staff were helpful, special thanks to Ms. Rabab who was very friendly.

reasonable price and good location

The hotel was difficult to find (not on google maps) and when we did get there the ground floor of the building was a raw construction site. The lifts then made you feel as if it was going to break any second and we had to take the stairs (8 flights) on two separate occasions. The rooms themselves were fine but the AC was a bit weak so it was a bit hot at night.

Just like I expected it. Staff are very friendly and helpful. They are always there of you need help or anything. I would stay again with my eyes closed.

Right across the street from the Egyptian Museum. Room was very nice. The only negative is the access as there is no sign outside....our taxi driver didn't want to let us out there, but luckily he asked a man on the street who pointed out the entrance

This place is conveniently located just across the street from the Egyptian museum and within walking distance of a bunch of restaurants and shops. The staff was kind and accommodating and I found the property easy to locate despite what some other reviews have said. There is signage outside the building and the property address comes up on Google maps and Uber. Also comfortable rooms.

This hotel is on the 7/8 floor of a disused building making it quite unpleasant currently. The front of the hotel is nothing like what you see on the pictures and the hotel name doesn’t even come up in google map searches making it almost impossible to navigate to in the evening. We had to stop 3 times to find it. Location is great and you get what you pay for. Breakfast is a couple bread roles and some cheese and juice.

Helpful and flexible staff. Very accomodating. Hotel is in a pretty good location. Breakfast wasn’t great the first day so I asked for a traditional Egyptian breakfast and was provided with beautiful felafel and foul the next morning.

Nice staff. Clean room. Big balcony. Daily housekeeping. Close to the Egyptian museum. Book it! You will not regret it.!

This hotel surprised us. Just like others reviews say the building looks weird when you get in as there is some construction but the two hotel levels are super new and clean. The room was really comfortable and surprisingly quiet for being such a central Cairo location. The area was really comfortable to move around and visit the main areas, even walking if you fancy it. And the staff were really kind. The one surprise is that the restaurant didn’t seem to be open but I highly recommend this hotel, really worth it!

Going through check-in they were asking a lot of questions (and many times the same ones at it seems we are 2 male friends) then later saying in Arab « that shouldn’t be a problem because one is French ». We didn’t understand what was all the fuss about. But they had us sign extra documents we never had to while staying 10 days in 5 different hotels in Egypt.
They took us to our room and alas, the bed was a double, not a twin as booked. They almost didn’t grant us our room thinking we were gay (we felt uncomfortable as they were looking to us weirdly), then said they couldn’t have anything arranged so we were stuck with a double bed.
My friend is a hectic sleeper - sleeping on the same bed isn’t a viable option anyway. They provided us bed sheet and a blanket so one of us could sleep on the floor (yes crazy best option they could do).
Though they had another double room available, they didn’t want to correct their wrong and let us have our stay be “halal” by their views. They also have a restaurant so managing a free meal as compensation was possible, yet nothing.
The room itself was good (1006), enough electric outlets and storage. It’s also very well located. WiFi on the other hand was extremely weak, my speed test at 1am gave DL 0,49 MB/s, UP 0,02 MB/s - don’t expect anything more than reading email.
Conclusion : great priced option for a downtown room but clearly not LGBT friendly and not professional enough handling their mistakes.

Al Madiafa is a small hotel very close to Tahir Square and literally just around the corner from the Egyptian Museum. We arrived at 7am from the night train, and they allowed us check in then, which was so helpful and appreciated. We had a nice view and it was fairly quiet give good windows and being up high. You enter through an uninviting and dusty hallway, but the lift/elevator takes you up to the hotel on the 8th floor.
The hotel name didnt seem to come up on Google maps but a previous review provides a very helpful picture of the entrance. It is, as expected, at 4 Champollion.

Pro: The location of the hotel is in the street right opposite the museum. Breakfast box is free but it didn’t indicate in the description. The room is spacious and clean.
Cons:
Be ware of your stuff left in the room. I lost my Cartier wedding ring which was in a black cosmetic pouch in the bathroom. I forgot to wear it and the pouch might be open when I went out. There was a eyeshadow palette and lipstick and the ring. But the ring was not in the pouch when I came back. We reported to the police.
The water in bathroom is always unstable, sometimes very slim water stream, you need to wait quite a while to take a shower.

Beautiful nuba themed hotel on the 8th and 9th floor of an old building right on Tahrir Square. Impeccably clean and spacious rooms. Sparkling bathroom. Great staff especially Ms. Rabab at the reception and very affordable. An absolutely great stay.

The Al Madiafa is a pleasant hotel, across the road from the Cairo Museum. It is clean, the staff are friendly, and unassuming in many ways. The photo shown is the back of the hotel. It might be a bit hard to find, as the entrance is a little hidden. And it would benefit from a sign in English indicating that the Hotel reception was on the 8th Floor. But Rahab, Hany, Mohammed and Ahmed were very helpful and kind.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The room was spacious, very clean and new. Don’t be fooled by the entrance downstairs of the building the hotel on the top floor is excellent. The position was very good, just a few minutes walk to the Egyptian museum. The area around the hotel also seemed to be one of the safest in Cairo.

The staff was friendly enough. The two biggest disappointments were the area where it is located and more so the fact the elevator was often broken

The hotel is a 2 or 3 star hotel in downtown Cairo. Location is great. Shops, restaurants, banks, the Nile, easy access to call an Uber. Our room was big enough for four people. AC was great!. The room had a microwave, refrigerator and great views of Cairo with the Nile. I believe the hotel is a share apartment building and had what looked like businesses on the first two floors. The hotel lobby is on the eight floor. Surprisingly our room was across the lobby. It was very quite. I'll repeat again. The location is in downtown and superb.

Don’t be scared - when I was dropped off and the entrance was not what I expected, I was unsure but once I was up on the 8/F, it was good. The building is next to Ahli United bank & near a low cost travel agent (at the corner of the street). Literally 5 min walk from the museum.
Service was amazing, Ms Magdy was super helpful and helped me contacted the tourist police (nothing to do with the hotel).

It is difficult to find the entrance to the hotel from the address alone, you should add a picture. Rooms are comfortable with plenty of space and good wifi.

Very welcoming and helpful hosts, they went out of their way to accommodate our needs. Good english. Good location. Nice room. Not very well equipped, and shower dirty. But compared to the rest of Egypt it was overall a lovely room. Floor 8 in the elevator.
