A beautifully redone farmhouse close to the many attractions around the area. So private even though you are very close to town. The hosts are very responsive and good to work with. Already planning another stay!

Beautifully decorated but get ready to be accused of being a liar for EVERYTHING AND HEARING ABOUT THE SQUATER IN THE CAMPER. We lied about traveling in the rain and he tried to tell customer service we had 12 plus people there. He went on a rampage when we arrived that if you aren't Baptist, you can't stay there. Well, we ARE NOT Baptists, and he swooped down on my handicapped child getting him to talk about religion which I shut down stating that I needed to get to the funeral home. He will get into your face, and I was afraid for my safety. We refused to stay after showed up after the funeral. Initially, we were going to see if there was availability to stay an additional day ( through Sunday- but his agressive behavior abruptly put an end to that). Run away!

Our daughter plays lacrosse for FSU so was unable to come home for her birthday which fell the day before Easter. We were looking for a home we could rent that we could cook meals in and visit with our daughter yet give our 13 year old something to do. My parents ended up coming as well. It was wonderful! The house was well stocked and we were able to cook a full Easter dinner that we all enjoyed and give my daughter that home cooked meal she misses. It was also large enough to accommodate family in the area to come and hang with us a little bit and visit. We never found or saw the pond pictured in the photos but the canal was right there. The wifi is slow but that is the area in general and with all the fun we were having we didn't need it anyway. The grounds were nicely kept and the house was so clean and inviting. The owners even baked cookies for us and had them there for our arrival! Loved it!

Was my 3rd timing staying at this property for work trips. Always clean, private and tranquil location. Safe and well situated to various things. Great owners and will definitely be back again.

We again thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely and well maintained home along the river and the canal tow path. The wide open first floor area is perfect for our annual Thanksgiving family gathering, and the secluded location close to downtown Cumberland is ideal. The bedrooms are comfortable and the house is supplied with everything we need for our stay. We look forward to next year!

We really enjoyed the location as we came to the area to do some scenic driving and Cumberland is a central spot. When we checked in the host just happened to be there but did not realize our reservation started that day, it worked out but had they not been there it could have been a problem as I never got check in instructions on the app. We were only there in the evenings and enjoyed hanging out on the back porch. Just to note, the campsites are around the house so there isn't privacy and you can hear and see the campers. We didn't mind but I could see that bothering others. If you don't want to be around other people though this place isn't for you as the towpath is frequented and it goes right by the house. I didn't know about the path before we got there and it was my favorite part!

Great place to stay in Cumberland. The owners were easy to communicate with and we really appreciate all of the little treats and the thought you put into stocking the house. It’s just like home! We will definitely stay there again!

Thank you for sharing your home. Such a hidden gem in the Cumberland area. Loved the location as it was a nice little country stay outside of the city. Hosts were as friendly and kind as can be. We had a rehearsal dinner there with success and they all loved the place. I would definitely recommend this property to all and would definitely stay again. Thank you so much once again!!!

We came into town to attend 2 family reunions. This house was a great reprieve from the business of family gatherings. My son really enjoyed being able to go fishing every morning before our daily agendas. The host even left rods and tackle for him to use. The house is well lit at night. There was plenty of room for our family. We will book here again when we come back to visit.

we were just in for a few days. we found this place and were very pleased with its location. lovely view of river, plenty of walking space, easy access to bike trail. interior was clean and spacious and the kitchen was well equipped.

Beautiful house and surroundings for a family picnic gathering. There was enough space to eat inside and also enjoy the covered porch out back. The kitchen had enough items/equipment in it to make a few dishes that were needed for our picnic. A nice assortment of snacks/goodies, items in the cupboard and condiments in the fridge if you need them. Diana was very friendly and nice to work with. The only thing we weren't prepared for was the traffic for the fishing near the house, but we were there for just the weekend. Plenty of people watching as the canal toe path was used by walkers and bicyclists. A few of the younger adults were ready to fish, walk & bike around the property.
I would recommend keeping the door locked as we had a prospective camper, early evening, who opened the kitchen door with a greeting and inquired about renting a campsite for the night. We directed him to the phone number on the sign near the side of the house.

Great location for our stay. We celebrated my daughters RN graduation and was very close to college. House was fully stocked clean and the views were awesome. Quiet location and loved being right next to the bike trail which we biked into town. Owners were very quick with answering our questions and easy to work with.

We had another wonderful Thanksgiving family gathering at this lovely home, four out of the last five years, with 25 of us sharing our holiday together. The large open main floor easily accommodated all of us, and the well appointed kitchen is perfect for food preparation and fun. The setting and location of the house is absolutely perfect, right along the towpath trail making for easy walks along the canal and also back into Cumberland where many of family stayed at the nearby hotel. The house is extremely well kept up, clean and well supplied with everything we needed, and the bedrooms are comfortable and very inviting. Diana and Don are extremely gracious hosts, and we look forward to spending another Thanksgiving there in 2023.

Fantastic couple of nights away for four friends. With 5 bedrooms and 4 bathooms (3 of them upstairs with the bedrooms) we had plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the immaculate house. Kitchen was incredibly well stocked with everything we needed - and even extra little touches like snacks, coffee, condiments, waters and so much more. We especially enjoyed the great room where we could use the long table for crafts, games, and meals. The porch out back was delightful for morning coffee, looking out over the river and beautiful Fall foliage. We walked along the river and fully enjoyed the whole property. Nearby Cumberland was great for a night out, and some daytime shopping. We also did the train/bike trip from Cumberland to Frostburg which we highly recommend (Tracks and Yaks).
We are already talking about how we need to come back, and maybe even bring our families (because there is so much room!). The owners are delightful and kind and we're so glad we found this place for our annual girl's trip.

This was the last stay of our long journey from Georgetown to Cumberland walking the C&O canal. Everything was great about this stay. The location, the house, the river front and the canal behind us. Hosts were wonderful and easy to deal with. Would definitely come back!

Very comfortable and convenient to C&O Canel and Cumberland inner city. Beautiful valley views! House has everything needed to accommodate small to large groups. You may want to leave Fido home. Dogs are permitted outside only as the owners want to provide a safe interior environment for those with allergies.

The house was beautiful and well kept. Having never been to Maryland before we fell in love with it. The views were amazing watching storms roll in from the porch. The house is right on thr bike trails, river and close enough to town to go enjoy the charming town. The host went above and beyond stocking us with snacks, drinks and coffee. Thank you so much for making this weekend memorable.

Our family really enjoyed our stay. The home was very clean, roomy and comfortable, well stocked with linens and kitchen/bath supplies. Location is very convenient, bike out the door onto the C&O, 10 minute bike into town and the GAP trail, 10 min drive to Rocky Gap state park. Property has plenty of outdoor space along the river with gorgeous views of downtown Cumberland and comfortable covered patio. Occasional campers and fishers availed of the adjacent campgrounds but were no bother. Enjoyed morning walks around the well groomed property listening to a variety of birds and the very sweet robust smell of honeysuckle in the air. Really appreciated the ice cream sandwiches Diana left in the freezer for the kids which we all enjoyed after long active days. Comfortably hosted extended family for dinner one night with lots of space to sit at the long table and move around the open family room. The long cushioned but firm window benches were really great for resting my back. Great family vacation in Cumberland!

My family and I stayed this past weekend and it was a truly relaxing getaway. The owners are very kind, and have taken the extra steps to ensure a spotless, comfortable home for relaxation. We got out on the river every day, walked along the property and the canal, and enjoyed the peace and quiet. Thank you so much for the chance to stay! It was more than worth every penny.

Well-maintained property in a gorgeous setting. Cumberland was just a short hop from here. Enjoyed the back patio, bike riding the C&O Towpath, and hanging out with friends. We had a total of 5 in our group and at no time did we feel crowded. My friends and I had a good time and recommend the Canal House!

This was a beautiful property!!! The home was gorgeous, fine detail was definitely put into every part of this beautiful home. It was extremely clean and smelled wonderful. The covered back porch was Devine!!!! The owners left snacks for the children, which they thoroughly enjoyed. Definitely will stay again if we are in the area.

This is a beautiful home and property. Out the front door is access to the C&O Canal Trail/Great Allegheny Passage, which is what brought us to the area. We were barely in the home and bikes unloaded when the children, in full view from the home, were out riding on the level gravel road connecting the adjacent camping area on the property. The home is very clean, warm, and comfortable with a spacious living area. The long tables provided (2 at our visit) were perfect to leave one for the children's table activities and the other for dining. The beautiful kitchen had all we needed. The beds/bedrooms were all very comfortable. Visiting in early April was too chilly for us to experience the easy access to the river and water sports, however, the C&O trail was a highlight. Whether you are unfamiliar, as I was, to the C&O trail, or a veteran, you will appreciate the easy access from this property. Both the home and the trail were perfect for our family of grandparents, parents, and young children. Accessibility and ease made us able to take the granddaughters on practice runs of 8-10 mile round trips from the house. One, who turned 7yrs old during our stay, and a 5yr old keeping up on her training wheels. The 7yr old was even able to ride to Frostburg and back with the adults, and the 5yr old rode about 10 miles on the downhill return (all after a great lunch in Frostburg) on her training wheels. Thankfully we had a support vehicle for the non-bicycle miles.
We are so glad we found this place. We will be back!
Thank you Donelly for being a great host!

This was an amazing property. Very clean, great host and great location. Right next to the C&O Canal and a beautiful view of the mountain range and river. This was a very peaceful getaway for my family. And the home is fully furnished had all sort of nick-nacks for anyone that may have forgotten things at home. Strongly recommend this home for anyone that just want to getaway and unplug.
