We enjoyed our stay at the happy shack. We had everything needed in the kitchen for home cooked meals. The porches made an excellent place to eat & relax. We hope to stay at the Happy Shack again when returning to Cades Cove.

Precious, comfortable, family oriented home. Everything a family needs for dining in or just relaxing

We loved everything about this place! It was so homie. We had our 4 kids and they loved it as well. Plenty enough room to run and play. Plenty enough to keep them busy, while we could relax. The ONLY thing I could request is the showering. The tub shower could be fixed to work. The small shower in the bedroom was a bit rough. As far as everything else, we enjoyed our stay and definitely want to book this place again!

Our family stayed for the week while moving. This was a nice property and they even allow dogs which was so helpful during our move.

We came to run the Great Smoky Mountain Half Marathon. This place is about 3 miles from the race finish and expo. Very convenient. It was adequate for our group of 8 adults. Not the cleanest place i have stayed as far as what i call old dirt- around door handles, behind furniture. Minimal supplies in the kitchen. Literally a salt and pepper shaker. A few bugs. Huge porches, but no propane for the (dirty) grill. Overall an okay place.

We split this home between two families (four kids from 10-16 and 4 adults ) and it was the perfect little hang out spot for the kids. They loved the outside movie set up and pool table!

Multiple gathering places, pool table, corn hole, fire pit for s’mores, doggie door, small fenced area for dogs, screened porch, SUPER comfy beds!!

We contacted Vacasa regarding cleanliness of home. We were told they would reach out to local staff (no further response). Pictures were also sent to show dirtiness of property. They apparently did not read previous complaints because they just kept sending chat box responses. HORRIBLE customer service from Vacasa!

We loved how close the house was to town and all of the activities. We loved the screened in back porch, the back porch bar area with grill, and the fire pit with chairs. The kitchen and living room were comfortable for the 5 of us. Downside- the big bathroom only has a bath/ no shower and the shower in the bedroom is tiny and opens into the bedroom itself. We would stay here again. We would just bring a hook to hang the nozzle from the bath tub up to turn it into a shower

Loved the property. Our dogs loved the fenced in area. We have a big dog and a small dog. Both had fun. House is 40 to 45 minutes from tourist spots like Gatlinburg and Dollywood. Very quiet and clean. Only negative comment would be that the bathrooms are lacking privacy. Need a better door on hallway bath.

The property was wonderful it could have been cleaner but other than that we enjoyed it.Despite the cleanliness I would recommend this property to others. The pool table was a plus the only thing missing is a hot tub.

The Happy Shack is a nice small house in a great location on the quiet side of the Smoky's. The house is close to the park entrance on the Cades Cove side but not too far from Pigeon Forge. The house satisfied our needs but there were some challenges. As other reviews stated we did experience some large bugs in the house in the mornings which some have called Tennessee Water Bugs. Also as others stated there was a single dish towel, no dish clothes and no hotpads. Thankfully we had seen this in a review and brought these items with us. We did expect the house to be better supplied as that is our expectation when renting a house. When we arrived on our check in day we couldn't get in until 4:30 instead of 4pm which was tough with a little one but the house was clean. There was nothing wrong with the house and the outside porches and decks were awesome so this would be a good place to rent. Just make sure you bring what is needed for the kitchen as this did not seem to be provided.

Absolutely loved the setting at Happy Hack. Very spacious and cozy. The area was quiet and peaceful great place to relax and enjoy the sounds of nature. It was clean and stocked with toiletries, cookware, utensils, towels, etc. Washer and dryer a huge plus. This is a place for family and friends. I’ll be staying again at Happy Shack.

We brought our 3 big dogs with us for our 1 year wedding anniversary and they absolutely loved it! The doggy door was big enough for our 100 pound mastiff/boxer mix to fit through so they had pretty much unlimited access to the fenced in yard.
The cabin was clean when we arrived and smelled good! The back bathroom does not have a light in the shower which was a little weird and the main bathroom has a claw foot tub and weak water pressure, and the blankets were pretty thin, so if you are visiting in Fall/Winter i'd highly recommend bringing some extra blankets for the master bedroom as it is the least insulated and is a couple degrees cooler than the rest of the house, which does get warm quickly and stays warm.
Also, if you have large vehicles, i would not anticipate fitting 3 into the drive way. i have a GMC sierra 1500 and we may have been able to fit 1 other mid-small size vehicle if we tried.
The area is also BEAUTIFUL. You can see all of the stars, and it is not as tourist dense as gatlinburg/pigeon forge.
The only downside to bringing dogs out here was that we didn't do our research and didn't know the Smokies are not dog friendly and there are almost no hikes you can take your dogs on.
Only reason i docked a star from the cabin is because the bathrooms were just a little weird and the water pressure was weak. Other than that we absolutely loved it!

The deck and covered porch provide space to spread out. We enjoyed the pool table and games.

What a beautiful home, convenient to the beautiful town of Townsend! We so enjoyed the big screened in porch and the pool table.
2.0 / 5.0
The home itself was fine, but very oddly stocked: no mixing bowls, larger bowls, oven mitts in the kitchen, no dish washer but only one dish towel and 3 dishwasher pods for washing, ect.
No batteries in half the things that needed them, and the other half had only one battery or dead ones.
Cleanliness was a bit of an issue as was the MASSIVE water bugs that look like cockroaches in the bathroom and kitchen.

We come every year for Fall Break. This property was great! Everyone enjoyed the screened in porch and fire pit. They do need a few more kitchen supplies but I nothing bad to say about this place. My family had a wonderful time and loved our temporary home!

Really enjoyed our stay, this quaint house has been fully remodeled and beautiful. Loved the screened in porch and spent most of our time out there. Loved the grilling area and bonfire area. Located within minutes of amazing mom and pop places to eat. Small bathroom in bedroom but it worked for us. Would definitly book this house again!!!

We stayed here to do a Project in town. Loved everything about the stay. Clean, convenient and almost like bing at home.

What seem to be a trailer remodeled into a “cabin” was mostly clean but there were no amenities to make it feel like home.
There were no bedside table lamps in any of the bedrooms. I had to stand on a chair to turn the light off, and keep the ceiling fans on before we went to bed.
No extra blankets.
Only overhead lights in every room.
The batteries were dead in half the TV remotes.
Super small 5c coffee maker with NO FILTERS provided.
If you plan on eating a bowl of cereal, make sure you bring your own cereal bowl. No BOWLS were in the house. I had to eat a can of soup out of the pot I cooked it in. If you plan on making a meal, make sure you bring everything you need, there is very few things there too cook a complete meal. No salt and Super small 5c coffee maker with NO FILTERS provided. There wasn’t even a toaster or blender or salt or pepper shakers. There wasn’t even a blender.
The oven and grill were absolutely filthy. I think this is something that needs to be cleaned if you’re going to bring your family there and feed them.
No bicycles as stated
No Mountain View as stated.
The pool table was nice till the side closest to the bar fell and landed on my husband’s leg and foot.
There are are more amenities in a hotel room than available in this “cabin”.
What looked to be a large, loud black truck slowed and creeped by and watched us eat our breakfast while we tried to enjoy our meal. That big loud black truck was always creeping by the house.
I will say that our dog had a wonderful time! She loved the doggie door and being able to run outside.

This place is awesome! Everything you need inside and SO much space for family fun outside. We were able to be anywhere in Townsend in about 5 minutes, to the park entrance in 10, and had awesome sunsets from the porch!!
