Restaurant and Bar all ok but room was beyond awful. £137 for a tiny single bed in a room that would be outdated last century. Filthy windows, frames, carpets . Felt dirtier after staying here , than when I started. Please avoid at all costs. Greene King and Hotels.com have reached a new low. Time to find a new provider.

We had a superior room, it had 3 cracked window pains, was very hot, we could open 1 window very slightly as we had to jam something in it to keep it open, the general conduit of the room was bated and shabby, bed very uncomfortable. In check out was wasn’t asked about our stay or we would have spoken to someone. Not worth £155 per night

Good welcome, everything ready. Room was a little rundown with paint pealing off the window and radiator, but it wasnt dirty. Great service though and the cost was appropiate for the room. Nice pub too and convenient location to Yeovil

It was fine. It's not 5 star. It does not pretend to be, it's a very adequate, comfortable place to stay, with nice food and nice staff, plenty of parking well placed for the town centre, easy to get to the hotel, easy to walk round town

Dated & dirty ! My window was filthy with black mould all over it ( room 20 ) Dead flies in the light & overall dated & in dire need of a refurb

Pleasant single room with a spacious bathroom. Friendly, flexible staff. Very convenient for town centre, and quiet.
3.8
Room was comfortable but we could hear noise from the floor overhead.
Food was excellent. We had a evening meal in the restaurant which we thoroughly enjoyed. Waitress was lovely.
A warm day but an open window was great and the hotel thoughtfully provided a fan.
Overall a good stay.

Dîner was great but the room was average with not a single straight angle which is not uncommon in old British pubs but the floor in my room was so slanted it was challenging not to hit a wall in the middle of the night. I think they have tried to redecorate the room at some point but the craftsmanship was poor to say the leat.
3.8
Too noisy, we were told there was a function that would finish at midnight but the after effects carried on till 2 am. And we felt that the windows were damaged and dangerous but on a good point the bed was very comfortable

A lovely old building with lots of character. Friendly staff. The room was comfortable and cosy. We were in the old stables block and we found it very quiet.
3.8
Convenient, staff were friendly and helpful

One night stay. Very quiet and reasonable room. Nice hotel and nice staff.
3.8
It provided everything that was required
3.8
Pretty basic for the price, staff are lovely but the building has seen better days
3.8
Polite staff, good service and knowledgeable of the area.
Property could do with some general attention, as it looks tired.
Food in the restaurant was excellent. Breakfast was also very good, with a good selection.
Would definitely recommend to others

Very quiet and peacefil, especially for a town centre location. Staff polite and informative. Could do with a little attention to facilities, as shower over bath didn't work. But overall a very pleasant experience, will be booking again.

Better room than previous visit. Staff helpful. Food good. Pretty good value I wd say!

Room was poor and well dated I wouldn’t stay here again

Very enjoyable stay. Nothing too fancy, but just what I needed.

I have stayed several times now when i visit my daughter i feel im part of the family now they always look after me will not stay anywhere else 100%
3.8
This hotel room is by far the worst hotel room that I have ever stayed in.
3.8
Rooms tired and need of maintenance and updating, floor and doors very noisy.
Bar area and all staff very friendly

Nice hotel, maybe a little tired. Staff very nice , food in restaurant and breakfast both good. Good value

Unfortunately not a place I’ll be returning to. Main issue was noise from other rooms through the very thin walls and ceiling. Had to resort to contacting receptionist near midnight on the evening of arrival to ask if they could do anything about the boisterous group in an adjoining room. Only after 2 visits did they disperse and could get some sleep. Woken both mornings to the sounds of the people in the room above and the man next door having a bath.
Unfortunately the room cleanliness could be improved, with mould on the bathroom tiles, and on the window frames and net curtains, possibly a side effect of the central heating not working, and so having to use the supplied electric heater to warm the very cold room on arrival and throughout the stay.
Whilst not the most expensive stay, would have hoped for more, for £86 a night.

Hotel needs a lot of updating. Room dusty and not clean and draft from window. Dirt in bath and water came out of the tap yellow! Receptionist was helpful though, and issued us with a refund. Could be ok if decor and cleanliness standards worked on, just wasn’t what we are used to.

We have stayed here on a couple of occasions and everytime the staff are always polite and happy to help. Breakfast was good although it would have been nice to have proper coffee and not instant.
Unfortunately the decor is now looking dated and the paintwork very tired in places.

Rooms are very dated, but the building is old. Bathroom not the cleanest- shower head black with mould. Staff however were really friendly and welcoming and the breakfast was superb!
3.8
Rooms dirty. Damp coming through walls. Wallpaper coming off. No thermostats on radiator so couldn’t put heating on. Ripped curtains. Black mould on walls. Food in restaurant microwaved and not cooked fresh. The hotel is nothing like it is represented in photos

Good breakfast and bar. Friendly and helpful staff

After I'd paid and checked in I was told there was a wedding on but told not to worry as it was probably not a noisy one. There was no warning of this prior to me booking or arriving. My room was so noisy, even the floor was vibrating from the loud music which was playing till around 11:15. Wouldn't normally mind but I was staying for business and had to be up at 4:30am for work. Needless to say, I didn't get much sleep! Had I known about all of this beforehand I would've stayed somewhere else. A pleasant enough place to stay although 2 beds put together is not 1 bed! Very comfortable though. I would stay again but a heads up about any functions would be nice prior to confirming my booking.

The staff were helpful, however the room was not in great condition. The moment I walked in to room 42 a really strong smell of damp hit me. On closer inspection there was thick mould up the sides of the windows and even all over the net curtain. This really needs sorting before charging customers to stay in that room again. There was also no running cold water to drink (just hot water came out) so we had to buy bottled drinking water elsewhere for our stay. I had to clean the kettle when I arrived as the inside was dirty with floating brown pieces. This wasn’t limescale as it didn’t have any in the kettle, just dirt.

Very good visit. Friendly receptionist. Bar staff were very lovely.

Friendly and very helpful staff, good breakfast and evening meal. Interior and exterior need some updating. There were stains on the sofa bed, a crack on one of the windows and slabs of wood were used to keep the windows open
3.8
Very nice reception and the breakfast was delicious. Warm room. Thanks.

We were there for a wedding, great venue

The property was in a good location and the staff were brilliant. However the property was old and in need of a good refurbish. Downstairs was ok but the room I was in could do with a total refurbish.

Very helpful and friendly staff

This hotel is terrible. It was terrible 5yrs ago and i'm afraid to say nothing has changed, it is in desperate need of having some money spent on it, the rooms are very tired and old and the outside of the building matches. No AC in rooms and only a small fan was available for what turned out to be the hottest day/night of the year. Reception staff are really not interested if you complain about anything and everything seems too much like hard work for them to sort out. Our daughter was using the hotel as a wedding venue and on the morning of the wedding she was told that she had to check out because they'd forgotten to book her in for 2 nights, luckily disaster was averted but only with thanks to her sister who surrendered her booking for someone else. Complete shambles all round, Don't waste your money staying here.
3.8
Pleasant stay, though in the heat (hottest day of the year) some air-conditioning in the room would have been welcome.
3.8
Not very clean both inside and outside
Reception staff are not pleasant
Food was average
