Nice hotel, good facilities
1.5 / 5.0
Stayed with my wife and 8 year old daughter in room 92, which is in desperate need of a complete renovation. Room was not cleaned properly, carpets didn’t look like it had been hoovered, bathroom floors dirty and bathtub covered in hair!
There were two big functions on the night we stayed, one of which was right beneath our bedroom. Extremely loud music until midnight. We could have been warned about the functions as we checked in. Checkin process was poor no information provided, no information about the restaurant, bar or spa in the rooms.
A real shame, as this is a beautiful building with great potential.

Nice looking building from outside but that was as good as it got. The hotel is tired and has not been maintained. Basics like cleaning are not done well. Rooms aren’t sound proof and we were awoken both nights - once by other guests and once by security trying to gain entrance to an adjacent room.
We read the prior reviews and wouldn’t have booked if there were any other options near this location but there isn’t so not sure of best option if you are reading this!

We stayed overnight to celebrate my special birthday. I had an accessible room which was absolutely perfect for my needs, my family had an adjoining room in case I needed support. Anyone with concerns about their mobility, access to showering facilities etc should be reassured that this hotel will cater for your needs! The atmosphere was warm and friendly, everyone was helpful and welcoming, we had a stress free relaxing break. The food was delicious, served in a relaxed atmosphere, we will definitely be returning!

Fabulous stay at the hotel even though we didn’t have time to use spa facilities they looked great and breakfast was lovely too although I am a tea drinker so would be better if we had more than 2 tea bags in the room if I had to be picky

The staff from check in, Cameo restaurant, and bar were helpful and pleasant.
The accommodation was also great.
Fantastic night had by all.

This is an excellent hotel.
From the monent I entered reception the service and care shown by the staff was superb.
The room was modern clean and spacious and room service available.
Dinner and breakfast were both excelent.
I would highly recommend this venue

£16.50 for breakfast is very expensive breakfast at the Premier Inn is only £9.99. The food is even better there. The bacon was very fatty

Stayed here a few times in previous years but it’s certainly gone down hill. The room was basically falling apart! Wasn’t very clean and directly above the pool which made it EXTREMELY hot. No fan, windows don’t open and for some reason they had security EVERYWHERE. I think it is being used to house asylum seekers.

Bedroom great ,beds very comfy, staffs always helpful, very clean en suite, disappointed no food at lunch time and menu on the web site is not the menu in the hotel which states 2 courses for £18 and a good selection which was confirmed in a phone call but in reality the menu was only the usual staples.

Room tired, bathroom due a refresh, lots of patched repairs to walls and ceilings. Water pressure in sink v low for cold. Had to go back and forth to reception as room key didn’t work. Breakfast reasonable quality.

We turned up and checked in ok however on inspection of the room there was sick beside one of the beds it was wet with bits we complained to the lady on the front desk who said she would have it cleaned once we left for the evening. On our return the stain was still there and room smelled there was other stains including spaghetti stuck to the floor and bathroom was poorly cleaned stains everywhere which I ended up cleaning myself. On speaking to the member of staff on the desk Sunday I explained it still stinks and the mess is disgusting their response was ok I'll pass the message on to the cleaners for tomorrow which would be after we checked out so we made the decision to lcut our stay short by 24hours and head back to Scotland.
I am so upset about our stay

Additional cost for most thing including breakfast, swim, room service. I.e if you have paid for breakfast you will still need to paid extra for item to complete your breakfast.
We had to be rescued from the lift as is broke down.
The room was beyond warm, we didn’t sleep well at all.
The room was a considerable walk with two children an bags and no lift as the children were too scared to use it after being trapped in it.
We didn’t have a good stay and left without having a swim, a good nights sleep or breakfast due to additional costs.

An amazing 2 double beds in a big room ensuite for my family. Can't ask for a better place. Ambience is serene and welcoming. Slept like a baby

Lovely historic building but the decor in some common areas is a bit drab. The hotel has a lot of weddings and other events and it was rather strange to have to go through at least two areas used by the wedding party to get to my room on the first night. The room itself was fine and the iron and kettle were appreciated but althouh soap was available in containers in the shower and by the basin there was none by the bath. Pillows were vary hard but a softer one was delivered promptly when I asked for one. Would return if I need to be in the area again.

The property did not match the description provided on Expedia. Contrary to the listing, the spa and pool are not complimentary, and there is an additional fee of £10, which is not justifiable given the overall cost of the booking. While the gym is spectacular and the restaurant has a nice ambiance, the food quality is below average. The rooms are spacious but could benefit from more thorough cleaning.

Staff were friendly and helpful and the service was good. Breakfast was nice and our evening meal there was also nice. The upkeep of the hotel in certain areas is poor and the spa looks unfinished. Also never been charged to enter the spa at a hotel where I am a resident before. There is no air con and some of our rooms were very warm.

Nice hotel and friendly staff, but some area need modernising. The bathroom needs to be cleaned more often. We enjoy the spa but surprised that we needed to pay especially after the cost of our room. Would return maybe on a groupon deal next time

Great hotel and location, but rooms and building are in need of maintenance and upgrade.

Stayed during the heatwave, rooms had no fan or air-conditioning so stay was quiet uncomfortable due to weather. The food quality was really poor. We had to go eat out the next day. Rooms were reasonably sized. Hotel is very average and the price isn't worth the services or amenities provided. We had to pay £10 each to use the pool.

A tired hotel in need of investment. Room was cold when arriving and heating system was a crappy wall heater. Sink plug had broken so water wouldn’t drain. Temperature on shower didn’t work so it was boiling. Stayed in room 406 or 407. Felt like the basement. Public areas are worn and depressing. Wouldn’t stay there again!

I can honestly say that the time I spent at your hotel was an absolute pleasure. Although it was a short stay of 3 days I could not fault any part of the time I stayed there? Cleanliness 10:10 staff 10:10 food 10:10 although I would like to give an extra point to the lady in charge of the dining room who went over the top to help me as I am slightly disabled? She took my luggage to my room and brought breakfast to me? It is things like that which makes a difference to recommending a hotel from a good score to a brilliant score? Thanks to everyone involved?

Food quality in restaurant compared to my last stay was terrible. Much reduced menu choices, exorbitantly increased prices, quality of good very poor.
Now all self service breakfast. No individual table service at breakfast as before. More like a budget hotel now unfortunately.

Nice hotel. Phenomenal gym. Was disappointed spa was £10/day as it wasn’t made clear before the trip.
Staff friendly room serviced to high standard wifi good
Food in bar was hit and Miss some nights not so good some nights very good

Huge bedroom, with two of the largest and most comfortable king sized beds I’d ever experienced. 55” TV in room. Had to hunt for the HD channels, but they’re there. Breakfast, was self-service buffet over the weekend and waitress served during weekdays. Every member of staff we encountered, were very pleasant and helpful. Jess, the part-time receptionist. Lenny, in the restaurant. Alison, the cleaner, who ran 50 yards to hand my brother the wallet he’d dropped. Didn’t use the pool or spa facilities, due to pressure on our time. Overall, would most definitely stay here again in the future.

Wouldn’t stay again… 4 * yeah don’t think so! Booked due to the hotel having a swimming pool, only to find out when we checked in this was an extra at £10 per adult. No mention of this on Hotel.com or the email reservation. Staff not interested in the slightest. Very disappointing…. AVOID
1.5 / 5.0
Room was above swimming pool facilities, far too warm and chemical smell. Had to leave all the windows open the whole stay. Bathroom decor very tired and dated. Bed not overly comfortable. Quality of the hotel does not justify the price.
