The majority of the restaurants were closed. And the one next to the beach (snacks) that was open last year, this time was exclusively for members only. Or they were asking you to pay a pass of $3,000 pesos ($150 dollars) per person to use these exclusive facilities. Also, the kid’s pool was closed due to renovation and for this reason parents were bringing their kids to the jacuzzi, creating a chaos and security didn’t enforce the “only for adults” or over 18 years policy. So, we had a bad experience every time we wanted to relax on the jacuzzi. I was highly disappointed. And to make matters worse, the check out desk moved to another building without informing the guests causing long lines, and a lot of confusion. The worst vacation ever since I started visiting this hotel 5 years ago.

Honestly, everything was great no complaints. There were a few little things like certain conditions of the buildings and room but it's literally right by the ocean. Things are going to have a little rust or erode. I saw a few times they had people cleaning up the stairs rails which was cool. The employees seems hard working and sort of understaffed which is unfortunate. Shout out to the bar tenders at the pizza area (I'm terrible with names) they were always nice. Their night is cool but sucks it's only on the weekends. Something that did suck is their introduction of the club is way too long. Totally personal preference and understandable, they do have a lot of American/ Caucasian folks but if they played more Mexican/Latin music that would have been cool. Didn't try any of the restaurants you had to reserve. Food overall was good. I usually found something that I liked. Breakfast was meh for me.
Overall, I would come back here

We come to this resort almost every year. Its great for families with children. Kids pool was the highlight. Food is really good. Its clean and staff are very nice, not everyone speaks english. Only small things to be aware of. Lots of mosquitoes in the club lounge and no elevator for rooms located on the club area.

Property was in a beautiful and safe area!

The front desk service is horrible they need more staff the lines are so long and take forever to check in and out. The rooms are very outdated. The food is good, could have more variety for breakfast.

The employees are great especially in the restaurants. They were very attentive and friendly. The food was also really good. The only thing that we didn’t like was the check in/out process and the personnel. At the check in, they pressure you into a time share sales pitch, and then when we needed help with our rooms, they weren’t very kind at all. We booked two rooms, and the rooms they gave us were far from each other. When I asked for closer rooms, as we wanted to be closer to our kids, we were told there were none. After speaking with a couple of attendants, someone was able to make the changes. They had closer rooms all along, we just had to beg for them.
All in all, the experience was great. The beach was somewhat limited because of a migration of poisonous stingrays :)! We still had fun watching them.

Our stay started by being greeted by a super great bellman Tino, however it all went down hill after that. We were given the wrong room after waiting 6 hours after check in. Once speaking to a front desk manager who could care less if you stayed or not we finally had to go to concierge manager and we’re finally placed in a room. We were planning on a big family trip and had several other rooms coming. Reservations to there specialty restaurants were ridiculous to get and reservation lady who did them was rude. The buffet was less than desirable. If you go to this hotel, expect to eat at the buffet every day because restaurant reservations is not going to happen unless you get up at 8am to make one with the lady that does them and even then you might not get lucky.
Though there were several staff who did go above and beyond the front desk check in was not doing anything to make you feel welcomed or relaxed!
The room was cleanish but definitely needed updated and the bed was not comfy
The only people who made this vacation feel like vacation and cared about the guest were concierge Christina, Enrique, Octavio, Angelica and Israel and a dining staff Dashelle and all the staff in the Italian restaurant.

Stairs everywhere. Not toddler friendly. Super packed. Food was nasty. We planed a family/friends trip and when our family got there they didn’t have a room for them. They moved them to a different hotel. They booked a 2 bedroom suite and got moved to a different hotel that only offered them 2 separate room. They have 3 kids. The parents had to sleep separate. We didn’t get to hang out as much with our family because of the hole situation. Horrible!!

If you have kids and don’t mind mediocre food. This is a good choice. The kids lay area is great and they have a kids pool. Property is beach front but the water is brown from the river. If you want the pretty blue water you will have to go to another area. They open the kids pool at 10 and the bars at 11. All too late if you ask me.
They will try to sell you a membership the presentation is with a nice breakfast and we got a free city tour and day at the VIP. But they are deceptive so be careful.
Overall my 3 and 4 year old had no complaints. We were together as a family and made memories So if you have young kids and it’s in your budget do it knowing the rooms are basic, beds tiny and the food is mediocre at best. But if you have a couple extra 100 stay alittle nicer do it. I found they served Spanish speakers first and was sometimes blantantly ignored. We will come back to Nuevo Vallarta but not to Marival.

We arrived at the hotel to find tons of people sitting on the curb. I then stood in line at the front desk for over an hour. Two to three people were all that seemed to be working the desk. When it was finally my turn, I was told we would not like the resort-too many kids and overbooked. We were offered the adult-only hotel-35 minutes away. We declined. We were told they were full. Of course, we had received no notification, and the trip was fully paid for. We were finally offered a similar room at the Hard Rock 5 minutes away. We accepted under the condition that they were prepared for us when we arrived and would receive the same room type. Moving hotels was the best thing we did. Although they did not give us the room type we were promised at the new hotel, and I ended up on a roll away bed, the atmosphere upon entering the Hard Rock made us much more comfortable. I would definitely steer clear of Marival due to this mess in the future.

Where to begin, there is no one single thing we liked about this hotel, we've stayed at many differents hotel and this has been the worse, since the moment we tried to check in was a nightmare, they literally spent over 45min during check in trying to get us to go to a breakfast/meeting the next morning to become members or something like that, mind u i'm 6mo pregnant and we have a 3 and 1yr old that were extremely tired from the flight, super hungry and sleepy, we expressed many times we were not interested and just wanted to get our room to finally rest, their whole attitude changed once we kept saying no, they were extremely rude, and literally gave us the worse room, since we declined the offer to get an "upgrade" to a much nicer room if we decide to go to the meeting, after almost an 1hr they finally walked us to our room, which was on the 2nd floor with no elevators, the room had a weird smell, like moldy humid, the bedsheets and covers where yellow and dirty and smell terrible, you could literally hear everything from outside, they were doing construction work and the noise was all day and night, it was so annoying, food was terrible, we all got super sick from the food and took us over 3 days to get better, everything we would go to the pool there was someone by the spa area trying to sell us the membership, there were just so many things wrong with this hotel that i would never end, definitely never coming back and would not recommed to anyone

Right when you check in they try to get you to go to a time share presentation. The food in the reservation restaurants was good. But the reservations were hard to get. The other food options were terrible. I got food poisoning my second day there and missed a whole day of my vacation. We will never book here again.

Don’t stay here !
If this review stops at least one family from booking this hotel then this review was worth it. check in- no welcome at all. No drink, cloth, something. This place didn’t even say welcome! We checked in and got bombarded with the time share nonsense. We kept saying no thank you but they weren’t having it. Finally we were firm and said we are not interested in sitting through the time share - the lady immediately turned rude.
rooms - which smell like mildew and look NOTHING like the pictures. They said that there was a tub, there wasn’t. The tv was tiny and all the channels were in Spanish. Not even one English Channel. We paid for an upgraded room with an ocean view. Did not get it! So we asked the front desk - nothing was done about it.
Restaurants!!! There are not multiple. We got in Thursday afternoon and the only place we could have dinner was the buffet cause we weren’t there at 8 am to make a reservation. Buffet was terrible! We stayed hungry.
There is nothing to do at this hotel. They have a show each night but only one was worth watching the entire time we were there. The bartenders are not friendly. The nightlife is non existent- very boring.
The next morning we went at 8 am to reserve the restaurants ( my 50th birthday ) lady said sorry we only have one specialty restaurant open per night and it’s already booked - said you have to eat the buffet. I said please it’s my 50th birthday can’t you squeeze us in she said nope.

Had a great time with my two kids. Food options were plenty. Thought service was good. Great beach which is most important to us. Perfect waves for preteens. A little older but thought it was comfy enough. Loud music at nights but we typically go to bed around 9 after being out all night. Would recommend and stay again.

I really wanted to like this place. I will say Staff was cleaning every morning and They were friendly. I've stayed at other inclusive resorts and maybe when comparing to other resorts, this resort was not my favorite. Cons: There was a small fee for room service. Room service had like 3 different food options. Fridge in room was not stocked. Had to reserve for certain restaurants. Unfortunately of all dishes I tried during my 3 day stay….only 1 was amazing (birria tacos). Upon arriviving they spent like 30 min trying to get me to buy membership (not good timing, I was starving, wish staff would have received me with a drink or an appetizer. Checking in took like an hour and checking out took about 40 min. Also, an additional fee is required if you have a later flight on check out day and you'd like to stay and still have access to restaurants at resort. Pools were fun for kids and the beach was nice but wont come back nor would I recommend to friends or family.

I’m not usually one to review but We absolutely LOVED our stay at Marival Emotions! We were there for 21 days and couldn’t fault the property or the staff!
The sports and entertainment team are amazing, the shows that the put on each night are five star, so professional and fun! We especially liked the Michael Jackson show!
The front desk staff are so helpful, nothing is ever a problem , they swapped our room to one with ocean vies and a king bed with no hassle. Catarina the front desk supervisor is amazing at her job, she is so friendly and helpful, cant thank her enough for her help throughout our stay, we needed to add extra nights and she done so with no stress to us.
Lastly, a special mention to the Marival kids club, Adriana< Liz and Ricardo made us feel like family and gave my 4 year old some of the best experiences and memories he will have forever! They are so engaging with the kids and make all of their days fun and full of adventures and love. THANK YOU!!
The food is also delicious, loads of options for kids, fussy eaters and diets plus the specialty restaurants are top notch, we especially loved the Italian.

Expedia is a scam. We were unable to fly out with 8 passengers for the first leg of our flight due to mechanical issues the plane had. Due to that delay your Expedia did absolutely nothing to help and scammed our family out of the trip of a life time.
I will be sure to spread the word that EXPEDIA IS A SCAM!

Marival is a large nice resort that’s perfect for families with little ones. The property and rooms are kept clean. We had a beautiful view and enjoyed the convenience of all-inclusive, especially because we have a toddler. The food was average compared to the all-inclusive we stayed at in Cabo (PB Rose). Drinks were delicious and staff was friendly. Pools are nice and big with fast service at the swim up bar. It was nice and quiet at night which was nice because our little one fell asleep early all week.
Cons: Check in took long, only pizza available after 10 pm, and no poolside food service or beach service available. I was under the impression drinks/food would be available on the beach.

Registration area very busy and to long to be help, no organization to welcome people and send people to talk to seller after a travel day or night is not the best thing we want to do, after you get settled is more nice and fun, but the need to work in the check in to made nice and easy.

We liked the landscaping of the property.
We stayed in a room in the last floor of a building that had NO elevators. It was a complete odyssey to walk three floors of stairs to get to our room. Also room is outdated. HIgh price of the room does not reflect on the condition of the room.

This was my second time coming to this hotel. About 5 years ago My husband and I had our wedding there, and we loved everything and that is why we decided to return. Obviously they had some changes since we were last there. Let me start with our check in. HORRIBLE! We were waiting in line for about 45 minutes, before a staff came up to us, and notified us that we could not check-in until noon. Otherwise the would charge us an extra $200.00 per person. So we waited in line another 30 minutes. None of the 3 receptionist were very friendly and didn't acknowledge all the people in line to notify us about the check in policy. When we finally checked in, it took the young man 45 minutes to check us in. Then they sat us down and tried to sell us on activities and timeshare, before they handed us the all inclusive bracelets. Then we finally got our bracelets and they told us to come back at 3PM! So we could get our room keys.
Then we had a bad experience in there ONLY RESERVE restaurant, Las Palomas. Now the food was GREAT! but it took 30 minutes just to get drinks and our chips with salsa. Then it took another 15 minutes after that for the waiter to take our order. My family and I were about to leave and just go down to their buffet. The staff there were so much more friendly. Alejandro was so amazing to us and very attentive.
Overall I hate to say I will not be returning. It wasn't a horrible experience. I would rather try other resorts.

Beautiful place to stay at and very friendly staff, food options were excellent and Reservation Restaurants were also good, only thing it might be missing is a little more animation ,entertainment, a little more vibe but a side from that highly recommended
