We stay at the Sonnenalp whenever we can. This time we were there while my wife had hip replacement surgery. Everything was lovely. The room was spacious and clean. The staff, as always, was friendly and knowledgeable. It’s not super fancy, but it’s quite nice, and it’s all one needs.

The spa was clean and perfectly maintained, and every interaction with staff was fantastic. Everyone went out of their way to make our stay special, and exhibited an extraordinary level of service. Perfect location, and the restaurants were excellent. I can't think of any way they could have made our stay better than it was.

A charming place and I’d definitely stay again.

Fabulous. People were top notch and extremely helpful . Spa was amazing. Kara was a godsend.
All except for extra hotel CHGs of 55$ a day as it seemed unnecessary.

The bed linens need to be replace with a better product. These were of poor Quality. There were only two pillows on a king size bed and both were down. I’m currently at a Hilton and there are 4 pillows on a queen size bed with various softness. The gas fireplace did not work. One high point is the bath towels were exceptional.

I only stayed at The Sonnenalp one night, but can confidently say it was a truly wonderful experience! Upon check in I greeted by the exceptional Anka, who became my go-to for my whole stay. I was offered an upgrade for an extremely reasonable price. In addition, I was shown the 3 available rooms and told to pick my favorite! My room was beautiful, with a fabulous fireplace and enormous spa bathroom, plus small balcony. It felt like a ski chalet in Switzerland, but with all updated amenities. Water and Nespresso were fully stocked, and there were cookies upon turndown. The hotel is so cozy and chic, very European, and in a perfect location. I was constantly given whatever was needed (water bottles, umbrellas etc). Another great front desk employee (woman whose name starts with a K, forgot to write down) was also so kind and helpful with my morning excursions, and made sure I took water with me! She also gave me a nice late check out, but I got stuck in Vail until pretty late at night. The staff let me use the facilities (pool, spa etc.) until I left Vail, and held my bags the entire time. The pool area both indoors and outdoors are magical. Like a secret garden, overlooking Gore Creek with full bar and poolside food. I’m truly blown away by the level of service and how personal and helpful it was. I was treated like a recurrent guest who spends major money at the hotel, while only being there 1 night. I’ll certainly be back and refer others!

Beautiful resort in the perfect location. The pool and spa area make this resort a favorite with us. We have stayed at a lot of very nice hotels, but the resort staff are some of the best we have encountered.. Very accommodating and incredibly friendly.

Balcony was disappointing since so small you can’t really use

Fantastic stay at the Sonnenalp. Loved the location in Vail Village. Walk to everything. Restaurants at the hotel were very good. Ate at Bully Ranch 3 times, twice at Swiss Chalet and 2 mornings at Ludwigs for breakfast. The schnitzel at Swiss Chalet was perfection. The hotel is very authentic German, loved feeling like we were in Europe. Very romantic and great for couples. Probably wouldn't be my choice to bring younger children. An older crowd for sure which made for a lovely quiet stay.

A UNIQUE HOTEL WITH THE EUROPEAN FLAVOR BUT KEPT UP TO DATE. THE ROOMS HAVE GREAT DECOR AND THE BATHROOMS ARE MODERN AND FIRST CLASS. WE ENJOYED OUR STAY. GREAT LOCATION.

One of my favorite resorts that I have traveled to! Their customer service is the best! Accommodating and friendly.
Breakfast buffet is pricey but delicious. Enjoyed the room and pool. We will most definitely return.

It's fine--the pool is very nice, the gym is wonderful. Lots of service snafus but the staff are all extremely nice. Breakfast was very overpriced and not very good.

this just might be the best hotel we’ve ever stayed in – and we’ve stayed in a lot of hotels. This is our second time coming here and we absolutely loved every single thing about it. Excellent for families or couples looking for getaway.

Had a wonderful time at the hotel. Service was great and the rooms were clean and well maintained. Had an issue at check-in which was a bit frustrating but it was a good stay.

Sonnenalp is as good as it gets in Vail. The management and staff are so friendly. They always make you feel like a valued customer. The property is gorgeous and the spa/pools offer the perfect environment to relax while enjoying beautiful nature. We can’t wait to come back.

The room they gave me was tiny and felt like I was in an attic. There were very few guests - I would think they would consider giving me a higher category room to show me how nice the hotel is.
Instead it was puny and the view was of the roofline.
Very disappointing.

Amazing property. First class sauna and spa. We went the week before Memorial Day and Vail was dead. But having the hotel basically to ourselves was really a unique experience. Everything about this place- food, service, rooms and are top flight. Can’t wait to come back!

The hotel is a great location with very friendly staff. But it's tired and needs updating. Pillows were bad. Bathroom sinks and counter were very low and inconvenient. The shower had weird controls and leaked.

Didn’t start off great with our room not able to cool down and the heater wouldn’t turn off. But they moved us to a better room. Overall great experience.

Firstly, the bellmen were fantastic! We appreciated the rides and the help with bags. The concierge was also very friendly and helpful. I was underwhelmed by the front desk and had to ask for help with a matter multiple times. Our room was also extremely hot and they didn’t have a solution other than to open the window. In theory this would be fine, but with freezing temperatures, it wasn’t a comfortable option. The room and bathroom felt dated. As is the lobby. The pool and spa area is nice but I was hoping the pool would be warmer.
Overall, I think the hotel is overpriced for what it offers as it’s closer to a 4 star.
