The hotel has seen better days and needs more love and care than it gets. Rooms could use paint and care, main areas are worn, cobwebs were in quite a few areas hanging off of vigas. The hotel hot tub was broken and pool was not heated as advertised.
Front desk staff and valets were fantastic. Food and drinks were good. Service overall was excellent however restaurant staff could use some training. One day was great the next not so.
Easy location to walk to the Taos plaza, and free shuttle service a nice amenity.

We love staying here. The food is exceptional, and the grounds are always well kept. This is the first time one of the pillows was ripped and in a soiled pillowcase, which did not meet up to their normal standards..
4.4
The grounds were beautiful, the bed was comfortable, and the staff was friendly. Would stay here again!

stay was great - happy hour disappointing
4.4
The facility is beautiful, but some of the services and practices are awful!
The bar closes at 10:pm on Friday and Saturday evening. So does room service and our room doesn't have a minibar. Your only choice is to leave the Hotel if you want a nightcap. That is both ridiculous and dangerous!!!!
And the room cleaning staff is inept, leaving our room with dirty mirror, no coffee and no cups

El Monte Sagrado is an oasis with the sleepy town of Taos. The property and its Mountain View were very much worth the stay. The rooms carpet was dirty which really unfortunate because it really was a beautiful room. The bathroom was a gorgeous arrangement but was in need of minor repairs to bring back the luster of the room. The patio leading to the green area was serene, we wish we had spent more time taking it in. We were mesmerized by the aquatic center and its 10 FT POOL !!!! It was an amazing surprise. The aquatic center could do with some light care to bring it back to 100%. Our room’s door lock became disabled after a trip to the pool. After 45 mins we were able to retrieve our items and moved to another room. Our breakfast was comped by the hotel due to the inconvenience. The breakfast was hardy and delicious leaving us regretting not dining at the on property restaurant. We are thankful for the hospitality and will definitively be back

Excellent experience. The rooms were clean and the staff were wonderful, we will definitely be back next time we’re in Taos
4.4
Very unique property. Walk to plaza area very very close. Unit was conveniently located near parking.
4.4
Beautiful facility but there was no attention to detail. Vents were dirty in the room, carpet was dirty. Things were left in the hallways, dirty dishes and a shower chair for multiple nights. After mowing the sidewalks were covered with grass that could have been blown off. Like I said just details that would take it up a notch.
4.4
Gorgeous space. I will be back.
4.4
Great staff, location, and amenities. Have stayed multiple times and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. Nice property.
4.4
Amazing property in Taos!
4.4
I didn't like that Expedia put pictures of a non-accessible bathroom with a soaker tub and then sold an accessible room without a tub. Misleading and very disappointing.
4.4
It was a nice play to stay, service is excellent. The only thing we don’t like is the faucet when turned on into the bowl kept splashing to surround to mirror or counter top unless you keep the water stream extremely small
4.4
No hot water … very limited warm water. Let my dog out of the room . Took me two days and a night to find him… it’s a miracle he survived. Sorta ruined my vacation.

We had a fantastic stay at El Monte! The rooms were immaculate, beds were incredibly comfortable, amazing bath tub and shower. The hotel grounds were beautiful and peaceful. The staff were very friendly and attentive and couldn’t do enough for you. The pool and spa were also lovely, a nice little bonus which our child loved too. We can’t wait to come back!

Amazing & beautiful

Love, love this hotel and the gorgeous grounds. Such peaceful place and the staff is so friendly. Our go-to when we stay in Taos.
4.4
The only downfall was that there was a family with children above our room. They were loud and kept us up during our stay. Recommendation; maybe checking in families on the first floor so people below don’t hear them running around or keeping them up. It would also be nice to have a microwave in the room. Other than that good stay.

This place embodies the very enchantment that every license plate calls out.
Incredible grounds, interior design, and room amenities (fireplace, stone jacuzzi tub, waterfall shower).
The restaurant is exceptional (get the chile relleno)
The pool area felt a tad bit outdated. But still felt clean and very refreshing.
The hotel shuttle service is also great because it’s hard to find an Uber past 9pm. But just be aware that the wait could be upwards of 30min.
Make sure you try on the luxurious robes

Part of a longer trip through NM - a highlight. The spa was terrific and walking distance to town was convenient so we didn’t have to drive all the time.
4.4
The property is gorgeous, beautiful, old trees and ponds. However, for the price I was disappointed that maintenance hasn’t been maintained as well….the jacuzzi has many broken fixtures that need to be fixed and the jets didn’t work well. In our Native room, the couch was sagging and the bed linens had holes/dirt. We even had wash cloth that had large rip in it. We had a roll away for adult daughter that was hard as a rock to sleep on…she never slept well. Ate onsite, food was delicious, however ridiculously expensive.

Beautiful property and grounds.

Terrible staff for the money!
4.4
Overall the stay was ok, but I think an elevated experience is expected with such high prices. This was my second stay at the resort and I likely won’t return.
Pros- Dinner was good at on-site restaurant, scenery within courtyard is pretty, valet and shuttle services were awesome and guys were super friendly.
Cons- Some of the staff were not very friendly (bartender at Anaconda), service was subpar (waited over an hour for creamer for our room and tray from breakfast sat outside our door for over 6 hours), many areas of the resort are not well kept and look to be aging (pool looked filthy and equipment left sitting out at pool), spa was not managed well (tons of dirty glasses and towels, and no toilet paper in the restroom even an hour after I notified the front desk).
4.4
Quiet and tucked away. Food was good and it was relatively close to town though they have a free shuttle.
4.4
The Property was relaxing and peaceful.
The corridors to the rooms looked old but kept clean.
4.4
restaurant menu same than always...need new meals

Search, ponder, vacillate no more...this heritage-friendly hotel is beautiful inside and out! Employees are attentive to guest's needs, authentically friendly at all times of the day, expertise is evident from the grounds crew to the front desk to the executive chef(s) & hosts, and accommodations and services are super high quality!
4.4
Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The pool area was relaxing and beautiful. Bartenders were kind and friendly. The property was on walking distance from the downtown area, the staff offers driving and pick ups. Just absolutely lived our stay.
4.4
The property itself is amazing. The staff all were excellent. They offer a shuttle to local restaurants or center of town which was great. The only complaint was the room could have had more attention to detail. There were cobwebs around and some blinds in disrepair. The outdoor space could have been more inviting- the chairs and table had not been cleaned off in awhile. The beds were comfortable. Restaurant was great as well.
4.4
Great Service upon check in. Lovely room.

This place is awesome. The best hotel in Taos.

This was for a weekend girls trip. We felt extremely safe and the service was great. The grounds were gorgeous and the hotel was very clean and well kept. The food at the restaurant was great. All in all an amazing stay and we would definitely return for another stay.
