We stayed over because we were celebrating a friends birthday with a Christmas theme. Disappointed that the pool etc was closed due to refurbishment which was another reason that we decided to stay.

The pool and hot tub were out of use when I specifically request a hot tub!

Lovely hotel, the bedroom was spacious and clean.

Have stayed here before, but unfortunately found the sink not properly cleaned when first entering the room and normally the rooms are cleaned each day and staying for two days, found nothing was cleaned (when comparing to previous stays) besides a used towel removed.
Breakfast was fantastic as always.

Good points: most staff we encountered were brilliant. Hotel generally was clean and tidy. Rooms were very much so. Fresh milk machine in the corridors rather than tiny long-life cartons.
Not so good points: Excellent menu is really let down by the execution. Breakfast was stopped at 0915 which meant one of us missed it altogether despite having paid for it. The Spa area staff were extremely unattentive and waved me through with no towel or locker fob, meaning I had to head back to reception in my swimwear to get a fob (no towel). Both external Jacuzzi's were non-operational. Fresh milk machine was empty by early evening and not refilled prior to us leaving mid-morning the following day.
Overall it was 'ok'. Not bad per se, but let down by some aspects that, given its location by the motorway, leave you with the impression it's sort of a slightly posh Premiere Inn with lofty aspirations. None of these things would be that bad if it wasn't for the premium price to stay there, the premium price for breakfast, and the very premium price for restaurant food given the result.

Last minute booking. Great hotel, staff very friendly and professional. We had meal at main restaurant, food and service was exceptional. Next time we are in area we would certainly stay at holiday again.

The in-house food order people where very rude

Good: family friendly, swimming pool, nice bathroom and White Company toiletries. Robes, Spa and changing rooms. Quiet, nice grounds. Breakfast. Good wine list. Good decor and impressive looking restaurant. Made for a great relaxing weekend for us as a family before kids are back at school.
Could do better: reception greeting on arrival - was told booking via Expedia meant we couldn't use spa (totally incorrect). Staff were overall helpful but gave average service; I think this was lack of training rather than lack of care, eg checking on us, topping up drinks. Something for management to work on.
Would have wanted more for the price it costs to eat there. Food too expensive. Could be a better lunch option as we didn't want to pay £18 for a sandwich and kids menu was the same for lunch and dinner which gave them less choice. Sunday lunch was poor - fatty cut of meat meant very little was able to be eaten.
Would recommend for a weekend break but maybe seek other food options if you don't want to spend too much each meal time.

Brilliant stay, the welcome pack for the kids was really special and all the extra included items with the room made the stay memorable. Excellent staff and lovely food too!

I recently stayed at your hotel from August 9th to 10th. I am writing to express my profound disappointment and shock at the unacceptable and neglectful service my partner and I experienced during our stay.
Upon arrival, we were immediately confronted with a broken toilet seat in our room. The base was secure, but the lid was completely detached. We attempted to contact reception to address this issue, using both phones in the room, only to be met with six failed attempts due to non-functioning lines. This forced my partner to personally go to the reception desk—a situation that is not only highly inconvenient but also indicative of gross negligence in maintaining your facilities for incoming guests.
Adding to our frustration, the television in our room was non-functional. After some effort, we managed to get it working, only to find that the screen was tinted blue, making it unwatchable. Within the first hour of our stay, we found ourselves with a broken toilet, phones that did not work, and a malfunctioning television. This is far below the standard of service one would expect from a hotel of your reputation.
On the morning of Saturday, August 10th, we requested that the toilet be fixed immediately. We were assured by reception that maintenance would address the issue. However, after an hour, we had to leave the hotel without any resolution. Upon our return that evening, we found that the room had not been entered, and the toilet remained untouched.

Room was tired, for a 2 night stay hotel charge £35 for swimming and you are restricted to an hour each day.

Great place to stay and food is nice.

Room given was not as advertised, in a dirty condition with several hairs in the bathroom. Staff said no other rooms were available although rooms could be booked online. Offered same standard of room in equally poor condition. Eventually offered a third room which matched what was advertised. Pool ceiling falling down, breakfast choice limited and portion sizes small.

Room was comfortable, but could do with updating. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Dinner was good, but breakfast (eggs Benedict) wasn't. Lovely pool, but at £266 for one night's B&B, we were surprised to be asked for another £30 to use it. To sum up, good overall, but poor value for money.

I love this hotel, friendly helpful staff, clean and comfortable rooms. The food is always of a high standard, and while this was a business trip, I look forward to being able to try out the spa facilities one day!

Electric charging stations. We were travelling down to Southampton to embark on our cruise ship for one week. I chose to stay at the Solent Hotel so that I could charge my car ready for the journey home after our cruise. The hotel and facilities were fabulous I will definitely stay there again.

Warning: Read the small print at the very bottom of the page. You have to pay for the swimming pool and gym. Only found that out post booking.
Also can’t use the facilities past checkout (11am) due to “hotel policy” (which we found it in the morning when trying to book the pool).
Overall the hotel is fine, run down in areas. Our room had some damp damage on the walls and the desk was damaged, but fairly clean.
In hindsight, I would have rather stayed at a travel lodge / premier inn type place this wasn’t any better. Would have been cheaper too.
Breakfast was of decent quality although slow.
Would I recommend it or stay again. No.

Really nice hotel. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the room and public areas. The breakfast was plentiful, a good selection and quality.

Solent Hotel is a nice place to stay, with great facilities and friendly staff. The only point worth mentioning is some room really do need a refresh for the money being charged... I stayed for 3 nights and the average cost of the 3 nights was ok, with two lower cost nights and a very expensive night in the middle. I think the lower cost nights were ok value for money but the expensive night not so much - Some rooms here are updated with fresher bathrooms - power showers and reliable toilets - while other struggle. The lack of plugs next to beds is also a small but disappointing thing when you're paying £150 a night...

A great hotel - a tiny bit tired and the bathroom needed an update - but fantastic for the kids and excellent attention to details for them! We loved the snacks!

Nice hotel with good-sized rooms and good facilities, including spa and pool.
Bar and restaurant quite quiet which had a bit of a negative effect on the atmosphere but food was lovely.

Loved the hotel , great value for all the extras we got , staff very friendly and helpful restaurant and bar amazing . Gardens so pretty , only negative but not really a negative, the rooms are a bit dark and don’t match the coastal theme with the rest of the hotel . Will definitely come back when we cruise again 😁

Everything was lovely, especially liked the extra touches in the bedroom for my daughter (mini robe and slippers, wash set, play book and crayons, plus a cookie). The only let down was this morning at breakfast they were 4 staff short we were told and it was very clear in the service, we waited over 20mins for our drinks, our whole breakfast went were in there about an hour and a half which made us slightly late for check out, it was a shame as it left an amazing stay with a bad ending.

We love this hotel very clean and friendly team. The breakfast is amazing !! Unfortunately this time There was a wedding party the weekend with some loud guests who felt the need to be singing in room early hours ( after 2pm ) so sleep disturbances in the night
