At check-in we were told that we were booked with a baby instead of a child (our 12 year old son) despite I had a reservation for 2 adults and 1 child from our agent (hotels.com / Expedia). That costed me another $330 for 5 days and the manager didn't help at all to clear thing up.

There was a smell in the room that was overwhelming. The food was not prepared properly. I ordered lobster ravioli and smelled it before it got to the table and had to send it back. The liquor was cheap. Every member of the group came back with some type of stomach issue.

Riu Palce is absolutely beautiful. Friendly staff and comfortable property. I would highly recommend. We have noticed in the times we have used Hotels.com at each property the room we are placed in is always next the the elevators and maid's closets/rooms. It is noisy, busy, and not very clean in the area just ouside the employees work area. Apparently the hotels.com rooms are not top quality or run of the house, but the less desirable rooms on the properties. it is most discouraging.

Great resort. Staff was very attentive. Room was spacious and comfortable. The restaurant selection was plentiful and the food was good.

Went on trip for my birthday with family. You have access to the sister hotel next door. Great entertainment and parties. Food at buffet was good. At the restaurant not so much. Drinks were water down ridiculously which was a bummer so i just stuck with wine. Over all had a good experience.

It was very good. The staff was excellent. The grounds were beautiful. The beach looked nice but the water is rough which is typical for Cabo..I knew that so it wasnt a shocker. Everyone stays near the pools and they have ALOT of pools. The food was very good..several restaurantsto choose from....no one goes hungry here. We had a swim out room which was great for us...we loved that. Next time I would stay at the Riu Baha because because it would be for older more laid back guests like 50+ which was a little quieter. We were at the Riu Palace which had a lot of the redundant thumping music but if you like that they prob play that for about 3 hours. They just really need to mix it up with other styles of music I would say. Between those properties is Riu Santa Fe which is more like a Rave...lots of partiers so it just depends what you like. You can walk the grounds of all 3. The properties are huge but nice and a good time.

Clean, lots of activities put on by staff. Great parties at the neighbouring resort which you can enjoy. Some staff were a bit rude, but others were very nice.
Unfortunately the doors are very thin so we did get woken up every night for a few minutes by noisy vacationers.

Food was not as good as it was 3 years ago. Specialty restaurants food was over cooked or undercooked or cold. No room service last full day

Stayed here five years ago and it has gone downhill since then. Pool has rust around the edge and tiles missing. The rooms need repair/updating too. Dining options were not good. Steak at steak house was very tough. Japanese restaurant was closed the night we wanted to go. The quality of the food at the buffet has gone down.

It's been a very long time since I've stayed in a Resort Hotel that was Top Notched from day one. The cleanliness in every area of this establishment is something to be commended for. The staff was awesome, the food/beverages was outstanding. I do not have one complaint or dislike. My comment would be to Keep Up the Excellent Work!!! CUDOS!

This property has mediocre food. The wine they serve is not good. Pool bar service is good, you must request the decent liquor or you get bar well stuff. The rooms are good and our ac performed great. Pools are large with a separate pool for the pool bar. It is about a 45 min drive from the airport. It is a hilly and curvy ride that may cause motion sickness if you are prone to it. Italian restaurant food was poor. Buffet generally not so good. Krystal ok. Steak ok. Property also seems understaffed. Front desk worker was dismissive of a request for bottled water. The lobby bar was excellent. The coffee bar was excellent. Overall, excluding the front desk, service was acceptable. I would guess the general manager at this property is not up to the job. Lots of cosmetic repairs are in order. Under-investment in the property is apparent.

Everything is excellent! Unless you're counting on your room service. I'm only giving it four stars instead of five. Because, room service sucked!!! I waited an hour for cold nachos twice. Tried again and the lady was so rude on the other end I hung up. Pool area could be cleaner. Everything else was great😊

Great world class service. Every culture is under one resort and many beautiful faces and souls that is sharing the same experience and is highly contagious. Me and my wife went without our kids and now that we are done with our vacation, we are FORSURE bringing our kids.

The staff is wonderful and they are always cleaning. The pools are falling apart, tiles and coping around the edges are missing. They need to do maintenance on them. Other than that, I love that place. I would also say that the steakhouse had very touch steak.

We enjoyed everything at the property. Beautiful view from our room. The food at the a la carte restaurants is very good.

Overall a great experience. Staff is friendly and kind. Buffet has variety of food to enjoy. Pool area always clean.
Drinks by poolside seemed waterdowned compared to bars inside. Can easily make non alcoholic drinks when requested. Italian restaurant is very good. Japanese restaurant isn't authentic and the sushi rice was mushy mess.

Second Stay at Riu Palace: A Mixed Experience
We recently returned for our second stay at Riu Palace, but unfortunately, we're left uncertain about coming back again. While there were certainly some positives, several aspects of our visit disappointed us.
On the bright side, the dining and bar staff were genuinely nice and attentive, making our meals enjoyable. However, our experience with the front desk staff, particularly Fernando, was quite the opposite. When we inquired about a room upgrade, Fernando's response was curt and disrespectful, stating, “not for free.” Our clarification that we weren’t asking for a complimentary upgrade seemed to fall on deaf ears, leaving us feeling quite undervalued as guests.
In addition to the unwelcoming front desk interaction, we found that there wasn't much to do at Riu Palace apart from drinking. The entertainment options were limited to the neighboring Riu hotels, which were accessible, but we expected more engaging activities within our own hotel. While we appreciated the effort put into the entertainment that was available, it just didn’t meet our expectations.
Another downside was the noise during the night, primarily from partygoers in the hallways. The tiled floors transmit sounds easily, making it difficult to enjoy a peaceful night's sleep.
All in all, our second experience at Riu Palace was a blend of enjoyable moments and frustrations.

The property itself is great. Good place for group of friends that likes to party. Will be going there again.

- They don't allow uber to pick up people from the hotel. We had to walk in the heat to get to the entrance of another hotel to meet out driver.
- Room service was lousy. We ordered breakfast in the room. They told us wait time was 30 mins which was fine. The food came after 1:15 mins, with no spoons for the yogurt, no plates, no forks, no salt and pepper and half the cereal bowl was dropped on the way.
- The capacity of the restaurants is very limited, they have long wait times
- We paid extra to get a spa in the room and to our disappointment, the spa didn't work the first day. They sent someone to fix it the next day
- On one of the days, room service completely missed our room. We had to call them to get clean towels and clean cups
