We had a wonderful stay at The New Inn, very friendly and helpful staff. Gorgeous listed building, we stayed in the Lady Jane Grey suite with a massive 4 poster bed and a few quirky charms that you hope to find in a building as old as this. We highly recommend this hotel

I have to say what a great central location, could not ask for more!
Woke up a few times during my stay on both evenings, night porter wandering around at 4:30, kitchen popping on filters at 6:45 in the morning! Drain broke outside the bedroom window! I love stopping on old character building love the history.
Staff lovely in the bar both days very chatty made to feel welcome.
Room as much as it's cheap enough and cheerful the room could do with some love, badly painted almost everywhere, marks on most of the walls which is such a shame, owns could possibly do with having a look around at some of the rooms.
As much as I've stayed on two occasions, it's just a shame the décor let's the place down.

On your site it said the hotel had parking.
It does not and we had to park miles away.
The chef was ill and we had no food

When checking in we were told that thet had not received our booking. Blamed it on Expedia.
They offered us another room in one of ther owned hotels in the city. I stated that i was disabled and could not walk far but they said it was ony 2 mins walk.it was 5 min walk added to the 5 min walk from the car park to the original hotel made 10 minutes walk! Which i really struggled with .
Very poor by Expedia or hotel.whoevers fault the booking is have no regard for customers..

I came to stay at this historic inn and the main building was quite nice. The staff were pleasant. However, the bedroom was pretty disappointing. It needs someone to take down the old wallpaper that has been painted on and is now peeling under paint. There is some water damage as well. The furniture was old but fine. The bed mattress was thin and it seemed like the sheets on the bed were too big for the bed’s size. For the price it was fair and I cannot wrong it too much. However, it is sad to see the shape of the room and it needs TLC. The pictures on the profile do not match what I experienced. I will say the bathroom was in good condition and a good size. Breakfast is very nice and the pub is as well. Close walk to a lot of where you really need to go and check out.

The history I read about the New Inn; the history recorded that the hotel dates back to 1455 when it was used by medieval pilgrims as a resting place. It also was a stable. My problem was the stairs I had to climb to reach my room on the second floor. There were two flights of stairs. The stair steps were narrow and uneven, difficult for me as I use a cane. In your advertising for the New Inn you should give your customers this information
Breakfast was included in my and it was substantial. Their breakfast bacon was delicious.

Hair dryer didn’t work, when my wife rang the 24hr booking helpline the reply was what’s up, poor people skills and still no hair dryer.
Mould around the shower base, didn’t look pretty.

A lovely period property.

Pros: I found the history very interesting. Alas, no ghost sightings. Close to the Cathedral. Nice atmosphere to have a relaxing pint and read. Close to shopping and local restaurants. The area comes alive in the morning! Cons: Could not figure out how to work the shower. A bit of a walking distance from the Train Station due to the station renovation. No lift to the 2nd floor but that made me realize I’m out of shape! Shops do not stay open late but there are plenty of food choices around.

Overnight stop to break up our journey to Cornwall. Never been to Gloucester before and picked this hotel as it is located in the town centre. Great stay in an historic building.

A very poorly decorated room. An apprentice painter would have done better. The windows were filthy. Bed was okay. Bathroom excellent.

The staff at New Inn were great, and very helpful. Breakfast was yummy and plenty for the price, and the drinks in the bar were expertly made.
Would definitely stay here again!!

We were in the oak room with 4 post bed
Room had big stain on ceiling just above the bed from some sort of leak above and constantly smelt like a sewer, even with windows open constantly,if it had of been more than 1 night stay would if demanded refund and left premises.
Mattress very worn out uncomfortable. A sofa in room had stains all over it, carpet totally worn out stains, I understand and like old creaking buildings, and expect old furniture but you can still make them feel clean and welcoming and a nice experience.
Under staffed (but staff who we did see very helpful and run off feet, especially front of house gentlemen receptionist who really engaged with guests is a great asset to the hotel)

Stayed here before and loved; same again 👍. This is a well presented property; steeped in charm and history. I wholly recommend a stay. I didn't unfortunately manage to sample the breakfast but I hope to stay here again and do so.

Once I got used to the slopes on the bedroom flooring, but what can i expect for the age of the hotel, it was a beautiful room in a historical setting with a modern friendliness throughout wether that is staff, locals or guests!

Really friendly and welcoming. Hotel were able to store our luggage both before check in and after check out. Rooms are a little "tired" but clean and comfortable.

From the beginning was awful and got worse , ask for quiet room but wasn't , no food in week as told there was no real ales so went to weatherspoons.
TV not working
Shower dodgy .
Complained when came down for breakfast led to believe was talking to a manager but wasn't said he would tell the other manager to ring me as checked earlier I had to ring twice only good thing they refunded everything .
Great history to the pub but really let down but little things which matter

This is a very old historic building. It was as modern and as comfortable as they could make it. There was food, a bar and music on the premises. We totally enjoyed our stay.

Quirky place, our room backed onto the garbage area for multiple business so it was quite loud in the morning and it seems a popular spot for loud cars at night.
Overall, this place was great, don’t expect perfect, it’s very old. Walls have stains and are very dusty. But the sheets were clean and so was the bathroom. Staff is wonderfully friendly and breakfast was great. I would stay here again in a heart beat.

The property is centrally located. It is a quirky old place packed with history. Exactly what we wanted.

Property is historic and comes with a lot of interesting stories (Lady Jane Grey proclaimed Queen at this location). It's a listed building which is also an interesting feature. Furnishing / decoration could do with an update. Great wine bar at the back of the property but not open at the time of my visit. Staff were very friendly and provided great service.

It is a building full of character, and what I would expect from a 500 year old building, it was clean and comfortable and full of charm
10.0
Old worldly and quirky and you need to be able bodied to get around premises.

I felt so relaxed and the room had a nice view from my window

The 5-night stay was overall comfortable, although there was an issue with controlling the temperature of the hot water shower. It would occasionally become scalding during showers. It would also be wonderful if breakfast could include some fruit. Other than these minor points, it was a delightful stay. When we arrived in the late afternoon, the reception gentleman kindly helped my daughter and me carry our luggage to the room on the 2nd floor.

Basic accommodation with friendly staff and dated look

Historical property. Character. Great price. Lots of great pubs restaurants and shops close by. Difficult to find parking and getting to it during the day. Better to arrive late afternoon.

Hotel was wonderful, building very very old, worth a stay for a look around. Its not boutique, not brand new, dont stay if you want fancy, hotel could do with alot of money spending on it, which is a shame as in this market with all the other budget hotels around they wont have the investment, new shower new mattresses and bedding would be good cheap start, all that being said we loved the place and will be returning again because its so unusual
4.0
If it’s a dated property, wonky floors = a wonky bed & beer barrels clattering round at 7am then this is the place for you, on a positive note the staff where polite & helpful

Central and affordable, been coming here for over 40 years so must be ok
3.0
Overall a pleasant stay. However, the plumbing was a bit dangerous in that I got scolded a couple of times when showering. The slightest turn of the hot tap turned the temperature from warm to boiling hot very quickly. I escaped serious burns by pure luck and fast movement. Certainly something that needs to be addressed before someone gets badly burnt.

No parking available, no food served through the week, noise from people outside etc, the windows don’t close properly
1.0
Quaint old building in a very poor state of repair. Cheap old dump worthy pine furniture ruined the beam features. The twin beds were the most uncomfortable we have ever slept in. Cheap and nasty. Divan bases stained. The curtains were cheap and unlined and didn't cover the window when closed. We were at the front overlooking the street with a single glazed window which you couldn't close completely and the noise was ridiculous! Underneath us, part of the building has been turned into a mobile phone shop. The coffee shop is shut. The breakfast was self serve and cold. With a loaf of bread in its packet to help yourself. The bacon was like cardboard. This is definitely not a 3 star hotel. Avoid, avoid, avoid! Never again.
