Great weekend getaway. The property is super well maintained, solid meal options and staff is incredibly friendly.

The service was amazing. The bed was comfortable. The food and drinks are really good. The place is really good overall. The only thing that we didn’t like is the guidance when you check in We were not told there’s two hours between breakfast and lunch that you don’t get any food besides A few sandwiches and coffee. I think they should tell you how many restaurants and the hours of operation once to check in. I will suggest to check the weather before you go. We went on a hurricane, so it was raining all day So we didn’t even get the beach or sun. Also, if you planning to go dancing or do something keep in mind that the nearest town is about at least one to two hours away. This place is to men to do outdoor stuff If you want to party, then the best will be at the resort , They don’t have any clubs for dancing, but they’re building one and they should be open next year . The rooms are outdated they look like the 80s. So they don’t look as nice as the pictures showed. A lot of times I didn’t taste any alcohol on my cocktails so if you want to get more for your money, I will suggest to ask for shots. Other than that, there’s not much to do there besides chill drink and eat and they have a band every night playing, but it’s usually local music. (Spanish)
My suggestion is to have a DJ with more pop dance music for the guest.

Our stay was average. It was very frustrating to have to show up to the restaurants at 5:30 in order to get a seat. Then some of them would be closed on nights we wanted to attend. The main issue is when we were leaving the resort, there was a tremendous amount of rain to the point the road was washed out. Our transport service advised our driver to turn around and have us wait out the rain at the resort. This was at 11:00AM. We attempted to do this; however, we were not allowed past the front gate. I even explained that we just wanted to wait in the lobby and use the restroom. We were told that we would have to pay an additional night to do this. This was very disheartening since we had already stayed there, had another reservation at a different resort, to attend a work conference. Our safety was at risk and RIU did nothing to accommodate. I don't think we will ever stay at this resort chain again.

This is a great all inclusive property for families. We had my 2 and 3 year old grandchildren and there were all kinds of activities (water park) to keep them entertained all day with great childrens shows put on by the entertainment staff every evening.

Worse Riu Palace that we have stayed at, and we have stayed at several.
Customer service is highly lacking especially in the buffet areas. It’s as though the staff does not want you there.
Bottle water policy of one per room is ridiculous! When you call front desk to order water, it never shows up. Same goes for the mini fridge service, never stocked.
Shower floor tile is slippery.
Beach is terrible.

The main dinning room, breakfast/dinner the food was good and many options to choose from.
The restaurants however were average, l expected more quality meal's from this resort.

I really enjoy this place the only thing didn’t like was the restaurants didn’t have appointments and every time you go there you have to wait for next available time this made it really uncomfortable at a time to dinner

This hotel was really subpar. Our room smelled horribly, you had to force your way in because the door was stuck, the tv didn’t work for the first two days, and there weren’t many amenities besides going to the pool and eating. We were supposed to get a resort credit and were out through the wringer trying to get it so we gave up. Overall, I would not recommend and would not return.

This was one of the best all inclusive hotels we have ever stayed at. The staff was beyond attentive. They remembered our names, our likes, and they did everything they could to ensure we had an outstanding stay.
We would absolutely stay here again!

Outdated, got locked in our room due to humidity and walls being moist. Had to fight for the room we requested which was a one king bed. Overall the best experience at the hotel was the monkeys other than that, wouldn’t come again.

Had many issues with the room sent messages kept being told things were taken care of when they were not places clean, but very old very limited buffet selections on entrées. People are very nice. Expedia was not honest and upfront with my transportation many issues.

The Riu hotel has a variety of restaurant for different types of people and the staff are very nice and helpful. They kept the room very clean and were constantly cleaning.

The hotel needs more activities and entertainment.

I like because the hotel was very convenient, quiet, extraordinary friendly staff, clean, the swimming pools and other fun activities were excellent.
The only thing that I disliked there was extremely humidity in the interior part of the hotel. The inside wall was wet all the time, also the floor. For example, the room where I stay the door was very hard to open because the humidity and at all times the floor and door surface were wet.

Great service & staff, stunning location, however, rooms are outdated and key room didn’t work most of the time. The Splash park kept my kids busy for hours, lots of fun.

It is 2 star hotel/resort at Riu Palace
Costa Rica. The road to hotel (I think it is a private road from Main Street) had awful large pot holes and hardened gravels type stone road that can cause flat tire or car damage. The hotel needs renovation as it is outdated, even my door key needed re-programming 2-3 times required the mechanic to come and reprogram the door lock. The sink drain was slow. On the first checkin day the bed sheets were dirty and had stains. The room has AC but AC thermostat is fake(there are sticker in room that says for AC close the balcony door/to shut off open the balcony door.) Food menu is same everyday in all dining places including the restaurants, note same menus for lunch and dinner for buffet and restaurants. They open restaurants only for certain meals (for lunch one buffet place is open and only one restaurant). The entertainment crew is pretty good and engaged. Food service staff is pretty good. Something to note, if you request later checkout, it is $20 per hour. I am disappointed and discouraged to stay at Riu hotel/resort in the

My overall stay at this property was fair but I will not be returning. When I arrived at the hotel, I realized that part of my family was staying at the Guanacaste property, and they wanted to stay with the rest of our family at the Palace property. Thannya (identified as a Supervisor) was working at the front desk and told me all we would have to do is cancel our reservation at Guanacaste and she would provide an equivalent room at Palace. Once we returned after canceling our other reservation at Guanacaste, she told us that we would also need to pay a large additional cost to do the transfer. The fact that this information was not provided to us prior to canceling our original reservation is wildly unprofessional. When I told my concerns to Thannya she was extremely rude and told me that “I was wasting her time”. Additionally, the new room at Palace was disgusting - it was not cleaned properly, there was mold and the refrigerator did not work (I have photos). This was unsettling because my mother is elderly, has diabetes and needed to refrigerate her insulin. Even though I will not be returning to RIU resorts in the future, there were a few staff members that were actually very helpful and provided great customer service throughout our stay and I would like to acknowledge them: Maury (bellman), Sharon (front desk), Elmer (front desk), Alonso (cook) and Warren (pool bartender).

I looooved that the staff were friendly, helpful, and seemed genuinely happy to assist! They made my vacation much more pleasant and stress free.
I also appreciated the food! There were so many options, we didn’t get to try everything.
The only complaint was the energy of the female entertainers. They didn’t seem that happy to be there, and the performances were very low energy. The males did a great job!

The service was poor and food was bad. I definitely would not stay here again. I almost missed my flight because the taxi service was not willing to provide transportation

The landscaping is beautiful and the pools are nice.
Not enough beach front. The staff spoke limited english. Therefore, not pleasant.

The amount of pools available and entertainment offered is enough to prevents guests from seeking entertainment outside of the facility.

The Hotel looks like a 5-star hotel in the photo; but it is not, I would say that it is a 3 star hotel. It does not have the luxury of a hotel of higher category than 3-star hotels. The most uncomfortable thing is that they tell you that they have 4 restaurants for dinner; but they don't tell you that they are restaurants only for 50 people; Then you have to queue from 5:30 to be put on a list. The first 100 are the ones who dine (In a hotel with a capacity of 800 guests ??). Despite that the food was good. The Hotel was clean; but it is not properly maintained, The children's slide park looks like a 15-year-old park, some chairs were broken and some tables too.
2.0 / 10.0
Never received my $600 credit for the property, terrible bedding, most inconvenient dinning system by they won’t take reservations for restaurants they push you to eat at the buffet.
